Below is the program for the evening of Saturday October 20^th, 2018.

Many apologies about last week’s last moment change of program. We are delaying screening “Land of the Lustrous” until next year due to a combination of factors that influence the upcoming program. Including trying to ensure we don’t end the year on a cliff hanger for Card Captor Sakura, and that our other scheduled new regular series first episode is double length.

This week say farewell to two regular series “A Place Further than the Universe”, and “Overlord” series one. They were both only 1-cour length series, but only one of them came to a conclusion. We will have to wait a week for more “Overlord”.

Hope that everyone enjoyed the after-JAFWA sky-show we had last week. 🙂

Japanese Film Festival

Each year the Japanese Film Festival tours the major cities of Australia. It will reach Perth soon, starting October 31^st, at Event cinemas Innaloo. See the list of movies they will be showing at various locations.

Early Bird and multi-film deals available.

Japanese Calendars

This is the last week that JAFWA member Dale will be doing his annual bulk ordering of calendars from Japan. The entire list has not yet been released, and there may yet be some release date changes. However, I should be able to order anything from this site if people would like. Like the DVD orders, Dale prefers about a 50% deposit up front. Don’t forget that the exchange rate sometimes changes between now and release date.

CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The long=awaited sequel. Sakura and Syaoran are starting junior high school. With the Final Judgment passed, Sakura thinks school life will be quiet, but then all her cards suddenly turn blank. The mysterious new power she discovers will change how she thinks about her powers.

This evening’s Episode: “Sakura and Meiling’s Return”

Syaoran’s cousin Meiling arrives suddenly in Tomoeda and Sakura hosts her in her family house. Meanwhile, Yukito and Yue ask Toya about the new power that is growing within him. Back at her house, Sakura reveals to Meiling that she knows that Syaoran is hiding something from her, but refrains from asking him about it because she is certain he would not keep secrets from her unless for a good reason. But what of Meiling’s secret?

Sora Yorimo Tooi Basho (aka A Place Further than the Universe)

Mari Tamaki is a second-year high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared three years ago. Joined by two other girls, Hinata Miyake and Yuzuki Shiraishi, they join an expedition headed towards the Antarctic.

This evening’s Episode: “We’ll Go On Another Journey Someday” Finale

With their time in Antarctica drawing to a close, the girls decide to play a game of baseball with all the team members before they leave, after which Shirase decides to cut her hair. At their farewell party, Shirase gives a speech on her thoughts on Antarctica, making a promise to come again. As the girls take their leave, Gin discovers one final e-mail in Takako’s outbox addressed to Shirase.

Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work)

The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone… she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out. The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Erythroblasts and Myelocytes”

AE3803 gets lost again and finds herself in her birthplace, the Red Bone Marrow. She reminisces on being a young Erythroblast being trained by a Macrophage on how to be a Red Blood Cell. One day, while practicing to evacuate from bacteria, she got lost and was separated from the others. She got captured by a Pseudomonas bacterium who intended to torture and kill her before moving on to other blood cells. A young Myelocyte came to her rescue. But that is not as terrifying as Cancer.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

Kazuto has been recruited to assist in testing an experimental FullDive machine, Soul Translator (STL), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than the previous machine he had played to help develop an artificial intelligence for the Ministry of Defense (MOD) named A.L.I.C.E. He tests the STL by entering a virtual reality cyberspace created with The Seed package, named UnderWorld (UW). In the UW, the flow of time proceeds a thousand times faster than in the real world, and Kirito’s memories of what happens inside are restricted.

This evening’s Episode: “Underworld”

Inside an unknown VR environment, Kirito spends his days as a child with his friends Eugeo and Alice. One day the three explore a cave in the outskirts of the Human Territory and get lost, ending up at the boundary with the Dark Territory. In the occasion, Alice trips and falls with her hand touching the Dark Territory and is sentenced by the Integrity Knights to execution. Kirito attempts to stop Alice from being taken away, while Eugeo stands motionless despite Kirito’s pleas. Soon after, Kirito awakens in the real world with no memory of what happened. Johnny Black, the last of the Player Killers and only one still at large, is closing in on Kirito/Kazuto.

Preview Item – Zombieland Saga

In the year 2008, high school girl Sakura Minamoto is abruptly killed in a traffic accident. Ten years later, Sakura, along with six “legendary” girls from various eras of Japan’s history, are brought back as zombies by a man named Kotaro Tatsumi, who seeks to save the Saga prefecture by putting together an all-zombie idol group.

Tonight’s movie: “Good Morning SAGA”

Sakura Minamoto, a high school girl with aspirations of becoming an idol, has her dreams suddenly terminated. When she wakes up, she finds herself in a zombie-filled mansion in the Saga prefecture, discovering that she has become a zombie herself when she is shot by a frightened police officer. A man named Kotaro Tatsumi explains that he has recruited Sakura, who has been dead for ten years, along with several other zombie girls from various eras to form an idol group and save Saga.

Lupin the Third – Part V

The series is set in modern-day France, and follows the thief Arsène Lupin III, and his associates the marksman Daisuke Jigen, the swordsman Goemon Ishikawa XIII, the con artist Fujiko Mine along with his nemesis Inspector Koichi Zenigata, and are joined by the Ami Enan, a teenage hacker.

Tonight’s Episode: “Zenigata’s Pride and the Desert Dust”

Just as Fujiko is about to shoot Lupin and collect the 50 million Bitmoney reward, Zenigata arrives by car and rescues him and Ami so he can take them across the border and arrest Lupin. They come under attack from a Bwandan military helicopter, but just manage to escape. Working together against their pursuers, the three of them make their way to the border, facing multiple opponents.

Overlord

Momonga, master of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild, was logged in to the Virtual Reality MMO Yggdrasil on the day it closed. Instead of being logged out he found his VR game had somehow become a real world that he was now trapped in. As a massively over-powered Lich Lord, there’s very little that can threaten him, so Momonga begins exploring the world surrounding his guild headquarters and meeting with its inhabitants in the hopes of finding anyone else from Earth trapped in this world with him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Player VS Non Player Characte” finale

Ainz and Shalltear Bloodfallen continue their fight. However it is revealed that outcome of their fight was already predicted by Ainz. Using the knowledge about Shalltear, provided by her creator and his friend Peroronchino, he had the whole battle preplanned. Will the Slane Theocracy by stymied, and will Momon be promoted to Adamantium class by the Adventurer’s Guild?

Preview Item – Goblin Slayer

In a world of fantasy, adventurers come far and wide to join the Guild, in order to complete contracts for whatever jobs are available. An inexperienced priestess joins her first adventuring party, but comes into danger after her first adventurer contract involving goblins goes wrong. After the rest of her party is wiped out, she is saved by a man known as Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins with extreme prejudice. And when rumors of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next.

Tonight’s movie: “The Fate of Particular Adventurers”

A young Priestess joins a group of rookie adventurers who decide to raid a cave infested with goblins. Things quickly go awry when the inexperienced party is ambushed by goblins, resulting in all of them save for the Priestess being killed or worse. The Priestess is rescued by the arrival of Goblin Slayer, who swiftly kills the goblins attacking her. She decides to follow Goblin Slayer as he proceeds deeper into the cave.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “July 15th (Thurs), Part 2”

Rohan is greeted by Masazo Kinoto, an architect sent to evaluate the damages done to his house, using Heaven’s Door to find nothing suspicious besides an aversion to people looking at his back. Meanwhile, Josuke climbs up the pylon to rescue Mikitaka and confront Kanedachi, who uses calculative cuts on the pylon to attack Josuke from all angles. Kanedachi also reveals that he heard Yoshihiro say that another Stand user has allegedly eliminated Koichi.
