Below is the program for the evening of Saturday October 13^th, 2018.

This week we start another new regular series that we hope you find is a gem.

Though people have been asking if we will show anymore 5 minute shows before the Dinner Break. We have one little episode that seems to embrace the season of Spring, so we will take a look at that this week, though I cannot promise another episode next week.

Let us see if we finally have an evening with clement weather, now that the Spring Equinox has passed, and our old enemy the Sun is gaining ascendancy.

We hope the weather will be more clement for the Event arvo on Saturday 29th. We have invited cosplayers groups for a free photo shoot on the day.
We will be supplying backdrops and photographer. Jafwaites get involved!

Japanese Film Festival

Each year the Japanese Film Festival tours the major cities of Australia. It will reach Perth soon, starting October 31^st, at Event cinemas Innaloo. See the list of movies they will be showing at various locations.

Early Bird and multi-film deals available.

Dates of Interest

• from Thursday September 27^th — My Hero Academia starts screening in selected cinemas.
• from Thursday October 18^th — animated romantic drama I want to Eat Your Pancreas starts screening in selected cinemas (Innaloo).
• October 31^st to November 4^th — Japanese Film Festival in Perth, screening at Event Cinemas Innaloo.
• Sunday November 25^th 9:30AM-1PM — Collector Zone Toy and Hobby Fair. Craigie Leisure Centre, Whitfords Avenue, Craigie, Craigie 6025.
• December 15^th — JAFWA’s end of year marathon screening from ~1PM. What do you want to see screened?

Japanese Calendars

JAFWA member Dale is doing his annual bulk ordering of calendars from Japan. The entire list has not yet been released, and there may yet be some release date changes. However, I should be able to order anything from this site if people would like. Like the DVD orders, Dale prefers about a 50% deposit up front. Don’t forget that the exchange rate sometimes changes between now and release date.

CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The long=awaited sequel. Sakura and Syaoran are starting junior high school. With the Final Judgment passed, Sakura thinks school life will be quiet, but then all her cards suddenly turn blank. The mysterious new power she discovers will change how she thinks about her powers.

This evening’s Episode: “Sakura and the Ice Ball-Sports Tournament”

Sakura and her friends participate of the school’s sports tournament when a sudden hailstorm occurs. Without help from Syaoran, can Sakura capture the card which is the source of the storm? Later at home, Sakura dreams of the cloaked figure, who is trying to take her key again.

Sora Yorimo T?i Basho (aka A Place Further than the Universe)

Mari Tamaki is a second-year high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared three years ago. Joined by two other girls, Hinata Miyake and Yuzuki Shiraishi, they join an expedition headed towards the Antarctic.

This evening’s Episode: “A Place Further than the Universe”

Shirase, whose nightmare of losing here mother Takako has never really ended, is unsure how to feel when she is invited to join the others on a snowcat ride to where Takako was last heard from, fearing that there will be nothing left for her once she goes. After hearing Gin’s reasons for coming to Antarctica despite knowing that Takako is dead, Shirase reminds herself of the effort she put in to earn the money she saved before deciding to join the others on their mission.

Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work)

The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone… she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out. The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Cedar Pollen Allergy”

The body inhales cedar pollen, which unleashes gigantic allergens. Though U-1146 points out the creatures are mindless and non-malicious, Memory Cell claims they bring impending doom. The various cells begin their counter-offensive.

preview item – Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro (Chio’s school commute)

Every day high school girl Chio Miyamo walks from her house to her school. What happens between these two points, however, varies from day to day, ranging from strange conversations with her friend Manana, dealing with biker gangs, and performing death-defying feats of parkour.

This evening’s Episode: “Because the School Is There / Chio-chan and Hosokawa-san”

Running late to school and finding her usual shortcut blocked off, Chio Miyamo decides to take a cue from her video games and attempts to parkour her way to school via rooftop. On another day, Chio is unsure how to react when sports ace Yuki Hosokawa greets her during her commute.

ReLIFE

IKaizaki Arata is 27 years old and has held a full time job for a grand total of 3 months (quitting because it “wasn’t a fit for his talents”). He spends his days getting turned down at job interviews, lying to his friends about having a job, and moping around his apartment. When his parents finally get sick of sending him money he is thrown a lifeline by Yoake Ryou, a representative of the RELife Company. RELife gives jobless deadbeats like Arata a new lease on life… By giving them a pill that makes them look like teenagers again and having them repeat high school.

Tonight’s Episode: “Date”

Hishiro Chizuru does not understand her current feelings for Arata and starts to avoid him to try and “see things from a different perspective”. However, after talking it over with Honoka and Rena, she asks Arata out for a Christmas date. Even knowing that after her ReLIFE period ends, no-one will remember her.

Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous)

In a possibly future Earth inhabited by jewels that take the form of people, Phosphophyllite (Phos) is weak (with one of the lowest hardnesses) and considered useless by their peers. Phos asks their aloof but wise colleague Cinnabar for help after they receive an assignment to create a history encyclopedia, thus begin their friendship and personal growth. Meanwhile, the “jewel people” have to keep defending themselves against the Lunarians who want to take advantage of their luxury value.

This evening’s Episode: “Phosphophyllite”

The jewels’ master, Kongo, assigns one of the weaker jewels, Phosphophyllite (Phos), to construct an encyclopaedia since they are unsuited for battle. Struggling to find any new information to include in it, Phos is recommended to seek out a jewel named Cinnabar, whose body carries a powerful poison.

Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody)

Ichiro Suzuki is a programmer who was tasked with fixing several bugs in two MMORPGs his company is preparing for publication. While taking a nap, he somehow wakes up in another world as Satou Pendragon, with what looks like the menu screen of the game he was working on appearing before his inner eye. Due to cheat codes, his level jumps to 310 and he becomes extremely wealthy. Satou decides to hide his level, and plans to live peacefully and meet new people. However, the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou’s plans.

Tonight’s movie: “Labyrinth Exploration That Started With a Death March”

Trapped in the demon-generated and monster-infested Labyrinth with some beast-human slaves he has freed, can Satou battle his way free and rescue everyone? Without revealing to all and sundry the true extent of his unbelievable level and powers.

Tonight’s movie: “A Perfect Day for Bananafish”

Ash Lynx, a seventeen year-old leader of a street gang in New York City, is given a street address and a phial of an unknown substance by a mortally wounded man. The man speaks the words “banana fish” before dying — the same last words spoken by Ash’s brother Griffin, an Iraq War veteran who fired on his own squadron under mysterious circumstances, and who is presently in a vegetative state. Meanwhile, Japanese photojournalist Shunichi Ibe and his assistant Eiji Okumura arrive in New York to complete a report on street gangs.

Overlord

Momonga, master of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild, was logged in to the Virtual Reality MMO Yggdrasil on the day it closed. Instead of being logged out he found his VR game had somehow become a real world that he was now trapped in. As a massively over-powered Lich Lord, there’s very little that can threaten him, so Momonga begins exploring the world surrounding his guild headquarters and meeting with its inhabitants in the hopes of finding anyone else from Earth trapped in this world with him.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Bloody Valkyrie”

Ainz finally goes and confronts Shalltear, who proves to be on par with Ainz, but Ainz as a player character has a special move for times like this. Shalltear will need to use a special skill to prevent her own death.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “July 15th (Thurs), Part 1”

Yoshihiro, recognising Kira in his new appearance, notices he is being followed by Hayato. Later, on July 15th, Josuke and Okuyasu come across Mikitaka, who spots a Stand user named Toyohiro Kanedachi living on an electrical pylon. Will our heroes fall under the spell of Kanedachi’s Stand, Superfly? Meanwhile, as something troubling happens in the Higashikata household, Rohan, who had noticed Hayato’s behavior, is approached by a strange man.
