JAFWA Geek Swap Mart

This is it! Saturday afternoon we have JAFWA’s Geek Swap Meet. All tables sold, so there are plenty of sellers. And we will be running a small sausage sizzle. Come one, come all!

Screening

Below is the program for the evening of November 26^th, 2016.
Something to sit down to watch, after the Swap Meet. And George from Gosnells Deli will attend with a sample of what Gosnells residents can acquire.

This will be JAFWA’s last regular screening for 2016, until we return in January. However, don’t forget the End of Year special JAFWA screening of December 10^th.
This week we will have a preview of the new Chii’s Sweet home anime, and another adaption of a Kenji Miyazawa story. And we have the two final episodes of “GATE” so as not to leave a cliff-hanger over the New Year break.

Synopsis

Akagami no Shirayukihime – (Shirayuki (“Snow white”) princess of the red hair)

Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Memories Draw Spirals of the Past”

Alert with the unwanted attention Shirayuki receives due to her closeness with him, Zen sends his aide Obi to be her personal guard. Meanwhile, Mitsuhide, another of Zen’s loyal subjects, reminisces the occasion when he first met his master.

The little restaurant of Wagnaria has a very eccentric staff that, against all odds, keep the place running and the customers coming back. Amidst the scheming assistant chef, the blasé boss, the katana wielding head waitress, the androphobe and the freeloader is Takanashi Souta, a high school student lured into working here by his obsession with anything small and cute … like waitress Taneshima Popura.

With (Yamada) Aoi’s situation supposedly resolved, S?ta continues to be in denial over his feelings for Mahiru. Meanwhile, having finally learned Yachiyo’s birthday, chef Jun has a limited time to arrange celebrations. While Aoi tries communicating with her mother via mobile phone, her brother Kirio tries to learn how to be her older brother.

Ore Monogatari! (My Love Story!)

Takeo Gouda is tall. No, Takeo Gouda is huge. He’s a high-schooler in a giant’s body. That’s been great for all the school sporting clubs he was part of, but less useful in his attempts to find love. But the real problem there is his handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who ends up getting confessions from everyone Takeo likes. In fact it happens so often Takeo now expects it. And then one day, quite by accident, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato …

Tonight’s Episodes: “My Friend”

Discovering that Rinko’s birthday is on June 15, Takeo tries to plan celebrations. Claiming he has something to do that day, Makoto instead helps Takeo with his plans for Rinko’s birthday, becoming quite amused by his own memories his suggestions bring up. First problem, how will Takeo afford to buy Rinko a birthday present? And can ignorant Takeo really claim to be Suna’s friend?

The continuing adventures of orphaned kitten ‘Chii’ amongst the human family that adopted her. The CGI adventures of a kitten that lives to eat and play, and never quite understands why her ‘family’ swaps between joining in the fun and trying to stop her.

movie – Kaze no Matasabur? (Matasaburou of the Wind)

From the 1934 short story by famed write Kenji Miyazawa. It has been previously adapted as a 1940 Japanese fantasy family drama film.

Because of her parents’ work, a little girl spends a few days in the countryside, and is left feeling quite isolated. After an accidental encounter, the village childrenher new classmates (both human and anthropomorphic) suspect that she might be the legendary wind spirit Matasaburou.

Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: The Self Defence Forces Fight Like This in That Place)

Youji Itami is a 33-year old otaku. He loves anime and does his best to never miss a convention or product sale. Youji is also a member of Japan’s Self Defense Force. After an invasion of Tokyo from an alternate universe, Youji’s unit is sent through the gateway to this alternate dimension to push back the invaders, taking him away from his beloved anime and manga. But maybe this won’t be all bad … because this parallel universe is straight out of a fantasy manga.

Tonight’s Episode: “Paradrop” and “Thus, They Fought There” Finale

With the civil unrest in the Empire threatening the Japanese embassy, the SDF comes to the conclusion that the situation has tipped far enough that a military intervention has now become the more likely path to peace. Itami and his group attempt to reach the capital quickly, both to assist his beloved underlings as well his local allies and friends. All this from a man who only works to support his hobbies. Can he ever return to collecting doujinshi?

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero)

Being teleported to a fantasy world means you’re the chosen one, right? Natsuki Subaru certainly thought so, but it seems he’s not the fated hero, he’s just another guy in a world full of wizards, warriors and demi-humans. Still, there are decent people in this world and Subaru quickly finds people willing to lend him a hand, people he wants to help in return. But how can a mere high school student hope to challenge the monstrous and magical forces of this world? After all he only gets one shot at this, right?

Tonight’s Episodes: “Natsuki Subaru’s Restart”

Trying to discover who it is that has been killing him at the Roswaal manor, Subaru is confronted, tortured and killed by the lovely Rem. And he revives once more in the Roswaal manor, attended by the maids Rem and Ram. This cycle it might be non-interaction with everybody will be the safest course of action. But can Subaru really run and find safety?

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet)

Tatewaki Shoutarou has a life outside his high school, one that makes the drama and socialising of his peers seem far less important to him. He assists Sakurako Kujou, an unsociable and obsessive collector of bones and the niece of a prominent forensic scientist. But this eccentric isn’t just interested in bones, she is an expert in them. When she and Shotaro go out collecting, they seem to have a knack for finding human remains, and Sakurako’s keen eye and forensic knowledge can quickly tell what befell the previous owner of the latest set of bones she has become obsessed with.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Asahi Bridge Irregulars”

On her way to a summer festival, Shoutarou’s school friend Yuriko spots a mysterious woman on a bridge who suddenly disappears, leaving behind an envelope containing a diamond ring and what looks like a suicide note. Yuriko, fearing for the woman’s safety, decides to search for her with help from Utsumi and a reluctant Isozaki, as Shoutarou and Sakurako-san cannot be contacted.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)

It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.

Things are getting hot for our heroes.
