Screening

Below is the program for November 12^th, 2016.
We return from our week off, where presumably everybody enjoyed the Japanese Film Festival.

It seems that people enjoy having a little 5 minute or less anime series on the JAFWA program. We thought we were going to wait until January before we started a new regular series after “Onsen Yousei Hakone-chan” finished. But instead this week we will start a new series of 3-minute long episodes.
And we realise that you are missing the retro time-slot. There is not enough time before the end of year to screen a retro series, so we found a one-off item from 1994.
All to soften the blow that two of our regular series conclude tonight.

Synopsis

Akagami no Shirayukihime – (Shirayuki (“Snow white”) princess of the red hair)

Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Back Full of Meaning”

First Prince Izana, the crown prince of Clarines and Zen’s older brother returns home and wary of Zen’s relationship with Shirayuki, invites Prince Raj from Tanburan for a visit to Clarines with unknown intentions.

The little restaurant of Wagnaria has a very eccentric staff that, against all odds, keep the place running and the customers coming back. Amidst the scheming assistant chef, the blasé boss, the katana wielding head waitress, the androphobe and the freeloader is Takanashi Souta, a high school student lured into working here by his obsession with anything small and cute … like waitress Taneshima Popura.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Yamada vs. Yamada”

Following last time’s attempt by Izumi to get her brother a girlfriend, Souta must consider the possibility that boy-fearing Inami actually has feelings for him. Meanwhile the youngest waitress Yamada (not her real name), who has run away from home is busy making the restaurant staff into her ideal family. Then annoying Yamada-kun, who claims to be looking for his sister, comes to the restaurant during fake Yamada’s shift.

Ore Monogatari! (My Love Story!)

Takeo Gouda is tall. No, Takeo Gouda is huge. He’s a high-schooler in a giant’s body. That’s been great for all the school sporting clubs he was part of, but less useful in his attempts to find love. But the real problem there is his handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who ends up getting confessions from everyone Takeo likes. In fact it happens so often Takeo now expects it. And then one day, quite by accident, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato …

Sunakawa Ai, Suna’s college age sister, has realised that Yamata has a secret that she hasn’t been able to tell Takeo. And Takeo is becoming aware that there is something hidden. Can Sunakawa Ai act as an intermediatory to rescue the situation? Especially as she has a secret also. What is Rinko’s confession?

Haruhiro awoke in this strange land with no memory of where he had come from or how he had got here. He and his companions were given little choice; serve in the militia defending the region from the various monsters or starve, and so they struggle to make a living as soldiers. There is nothing easy about this life and making ends meet is a challenge for six people who, it seems, had never held weapons before. Teamwork may be the only thing that can keep them alive, but for that they actually need to function as a team.

Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: The Self Defence Forces Fight Like This in That Place)

Youji Itami is a 33-year old otaku. He loves anime and does his best to never miss a convention or product sale. Youji is also a member of Japan’s Self Defense Force. After an invasion of Tokyo from an alternate universe, Youji’s unit is sent through the gateway to this alternate dimension to push back the invaders, taking him away from his beloved anime and manga. But maybe this won’t be all bad … because this parallel universe is straight out of a fantasy manga.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet)

Tatewaki Shoutarou has a life outside his high school, one that makes the drama and socialising of his peers seem far less important to him. He assists Sakurako Kujou, an unsociable and obsessive collector of bones and the niece of a prominent forensic scientist. But this eccentric isn’t just interested in bones, she is an expert in them. When she and Shotaro go out collecting, they seem to have a knack for finding human remains, and Sakurako’s keen eye and forensic knowledge can quickly tell what befell the previous owner of the latest set of bones she has become obsessed with.

Police Officer Utsumi requests the assistance of Sakurako-san to help convince a friend of his that the friend will not be dying from a curse. As coincidences and cursed items accumulate, how will the ever rational Sakrako-san deal with this?

After defeating and capturing Enya-baba, our heroes continue to cross Pakistan enroute towards Egypt. But a roadside stop for supplies provides the next assassin Stand user as well as kebabs. For now they face the weakest stand ever. After seeing what it does to captive Enya, three of our heroes run away leaving Jotaro to be humiliated by stand user Steely Dan.
