We have leapt into 2024 and already the second month has been reached. Welcome back from our monthly Break and prepare to enjoy a climate of anime!

This Monday at 6:30PM is the Luna Double Feature at Luna Cinemas Leederville featuring “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Princess Mononoke” for $15 for those of you needing an anime fix.

Our program will include a preview episode set in the near future where a discriminating but jaded game player tries a new computer game.

Dr Stone season 3 “New World”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. With the Stone Wars over, the former members of Tsukasa’s Empire of Might join forces with the Kingdom of Science to build a ship capable of sailing across open ocean to seek answers on the mystery of the global petrification. However, before they can begin their voyage Senku and his friends need to find some key resources and push some new scientific advancements to build the type of vessel they need.

This evening’s Episode: “Last Man Standing“

Senku, who is unpetrified thanks to Science and Friends, runs Ibara over with the mobile lab and grabs Medusa, but Ibara reveals he is wearing primitive body armor, wounds Senku’s arm, and takes back Medusa. Senku is forced to run while Ibara throws Medusa with a 5-second timer, unaware Senku had also revived Ryusui who enacts their original plan to steal Medusa with the drone. This shall be a Boss battle.

Spy x Family – part 2b

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This Evening’s Episode: “Who Is This Mission For?“

While Yor fights Barnaby, Anya fools the nearby crowd into thinking the fight a circus act, allowing Yor to defeat Barnaby. Yor’s group reconvenes safely at the safe room. After reprimanding Yor for her carelessness and inattentiveness, Matthew leaves Yor to stand guard. During which, Yor has a reflection on her feelings about the mission and her family.

The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today (Dekiru Neko wa Kyou mo Yuuutsu)

One day, a young woman named Saku took in a stray black cat who she later named Yukichi. However, as time went on, Yukichi grew large enough to be mistaken for a bear. Instead of being a threat though, Yukichi spends his time cooking food, doing laundry, and taking care of his owner after she comes home from hard days at work.

This Evening’s Episode: “The Masterful Cat Is Good at Giving Care“

Even a masterful cat has his concerns, and they tend to involve that most terrible example of Homo Sapien – his owner. Meanwhile Saku is hoping to learn how to cook in order to make the lie she makes home-made lunches less extreme. Then on a day when everything seems to go wrong, Saku may redeem herself. Unfortunately she then comes down with a fever and unlike her does not want to take time off from work.

Second year high school student Rakuro Hizutome is interested in one thing only: finding “shitty games” and beating the crap out of them. His gaming skills are second to none, and no game is too bad for him to enjoy. So when he’s introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best—min-maxes and skips the prologue to jump straight into the action. But even an expert gamer like Rakuro might discover new secrets hiding in Shangri-La Frontier.

Tonight’s Episode: “What Do You Play Games For?“

In the near future screen based gaming is replaced with full dive VR games. The market is soon flooded with low quality games filled with glitches known as “trash games”. A percentage of players are obsessed with completing trash games despite the glitches. One “trash game hunter” is Rakuro, who goes by his screen name Sunraku. After spending weeks completing his latest game Rakuro suffers mental burnout and is convinced by local shop owner Mana to play a mainstream game instead, completely free of glitches with 30million players, Shangri-La Frontier.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto)

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favorite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “The Threat“

The Emperor made a direct request for Maomao to take care of Lady Lihua, but repeated attempts to treat her are thwarted by her ladies-in-waiting and kicks her out of her room repeatedly. Jinshi notices Maomao’s problem and decides to intervene, charming the ladies into allowing Maomao to treat Lihua without any interference.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Kidou Senshi Gandamu: Suisei no Majo)

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Tonight’s Episode: “Cycle of Sin“

Prospera explains to Belmeria that Ericht died due to her having a weak body, so she transferred her mind into the Aerial, before blackmailing her into joining Quiet Zero, intending to use it to unbind her daughter from the Gundam. The Benerit Group opts to hold an election for a new president, which Shaddiq intends to win. At the same time, Guel makes it back to his family and assumes ownership of his father’s company.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were not always enemies. Long before they had what was supposed to be their final encounter during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, the pair were fellow students, rivals, and friends. In another world, they would have been the twin shining stars of Jujutsu Sorcery, but one fateful event destroyed any hope of that ever happening. Turn back the clock to witness the mission that drove them to curse one another beyond even death.

Tonight’s Episode: “Fluctuations.“

Mei Mei battles the Smallpox Deity cursed spirit, just barely avoiding her death by its guaranteed hit attacks. Using Ui Ui and her crows as a distraction, she is able to catch the curse off guard and defeat it, freeing them from the domain and ready to fight Pseudo-Geto. Elsewhere, Nanami convenes with Maki and Naobito.

Undead Unluck

Fuuko Izumo is known as a woman cursed with “Unluck.” Fuuko brings misfortune to anyone who touches her and the scale is proportional to how long they had physical contact. She’s saved by Andy, a man who cannot die (“Undead”). He hopes to figure out a way to use Fuuko’s misfortune to finally bring him death. The unlikely pair team up to complete missions given to them by the Book of Revelations, but if they or any of the other negators in their union fail, the book can punish humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Do You Love the Change in Me?“

Andy continues his fight against Gina, who reveals her ability is called Unchange, which freezes anything she wants in stasis. While dodging, Fuuko realizes there must be an open spot in Gina’s shield by her feet.

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Strongest Weakest Man“

The Bushin Festival arrives, attracting hundreds of fighters to the royal capital; Cid plans to shock the crowd by disguising himself as weak and defeating everyone he fights with astonishing ease. Using magical slime makeup, Gamma gives Cid the pathetic face of Mundane Mann, an unskilled knight who died in poverty.

Goblin Slayer season 2

In a world of fantasy, adventurers come far and wide to join the Guild, in order to complete contracts for whatever jobs are available. An inexperienced priestess joins her first adventuring party, but comes into danger after her first adventurer contract involving goblins goes wrong. After the rest of her party is wiped out, she is saved by a man known as Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins with extreme prejudice. And when rumours of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next.

Tonight’s Episode: “Onward to Adventure” season 2

Goblin Slayer is joined by Priestess and other adventurers who determine a shaman is leading the goblins tunneling to the surface. Due to his size, Heavy Warrior stays to protect the children while everyone else enters the tunnels. Priestess volunteers to lead the trainees to attack the goblins hunting the other trainee group.
