The month of September comes upon JAFWA. Though the Bureau of Meteorology claims it is Spring, JAFWA shall keep to its Winter hours still for this month

Try not to be too sad, but in order to fit in this week’s preview episode, “Demon Slayer” will be pushed to next week.

Japanese Calendars

It is that time of year again – when Japanese calendars for 2023 go on pre-order. If I (the JAFWA MC) get enough interest, I will probably order from here. It is very early yet, so only a small number of calendars have been listed so far. The link I gave pointed to only Anime calendars, but the left menu shows other categories if you are interested.
This site may be slightly more up-to-date in titles being listed.

The Australian dollar is not buying much these days, but if we bundle our orders together, we should be able to get cheaper shipping rates. And if we order very soon, we may get pre-order discounts.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Log Horizon series III – Destruction of the Round Table

It’s been a year since Shiroe and his friends were trapped in Akiba due to the Catastrophe. Their forging of the Round Table has brought order and prosperity to its people. But fracturing political alliances and the constant menace of the Genius monsters threaten to destabilize all they’ve fought for and built.

This evening’s Episode: “The Oldest Ancients”

By Shiroe’s suggestion, Rayneshia decides to take a leave from her duties in the New Round Table and travel to the Chinese server by boat to help bring Crusty and the others back home. Meanwhile, Minori and her friends befriend the sisters Lelia and Litka Mofur and decide to shelter them at Log Horizon’s guild base. A Genius is about to attack the city.

Spy x Family

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “The Target’s Second Son”

Loid continuously pressures Anya to apologize to Damian, despite her new friend, Becky Blackbell, discouraging her. Once Anya is able to do so when Becky is away, Damian realizes he’s started to develop feelings for her, but rejects her apology out of embarrassment. As Loid questions how it feels to have a family, elsewhere, Yuri Briar, Yor’s brother, learns of his sister’s marriage.

Deaimon

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family’s confectionery shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka’s parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu.

Tonight’s Episode: “Is It Good”

Nagomu falls ill and while sleeping dreams about an older student, his Senpai, in high school. Mitsuru brings him drinks but is so embarrassed at being near him she flees. Nagomu learned guitar from his Senpai who was grateful that Ryokushou helped convince him to move out of his father’s house and start his own life. Kanoko also visits, exasperated at Nagomu not looking after himself. He awakens and finds Itsuka caring for him, so he tells her about his Senpai and hopes he might visit Ryokushou one day.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s greatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organisation that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “My Mother’s Documents ”

A young woman named Finn Clarke travels to Revonland in the Arctic to learn more about her mother who died after giving birth to her 16 years ago to the day. She stays with the people who had watched over her mother, Mariel, after she suddenly left for America. She finds some cassettes recorded by Mariel and decides to reveal them publicly as a webcast called “Finn’s Room” which are heard by both Lupin and Mattea. For the influence of Tomoe will be heard.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Achievement Point ”

Picking up a light-up sword to use its liquid as a substitute for Kurisu’s blood, Rintaro and Suzuha return to the day of Kurisu’s death. To prevent a Metal Upa toy from ending up with Nakabachi’s papers (which previously saved them from being destroyed in a fire on the plane flight), Rintaro obtains it himself first from the toy machine so that Mayuri ends up with a plastic one, which would later make its way to Kurisu and Nakabachi. It is not quite that easy.

In a world filled with horrific monsters bent on death and destruction, humanity’s only hope is dependent upon powerful Huntsmen and Huntresses. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long are four such Huntresses in training whose journeys will take them far past the grounds of their school, Beacon Academy. Though each may be powerful on their own, these four girls must overcome dark forces and work as a team if they truly hope to become the next generation of Remnant’s protectors.

This evening’s Episodes: “Red, White, Black, Yellow”

Blake Belladonna helps Adam Taurus break into a Schnee Dust Company freight train for the supplies. However, she has become disillusioned with the current White Fang methods of trying to achieve equality for the faunus; she promptly leaves the group, deciding to enroll at Beacon Academy for a fresh start. Weiss Schnee decides to prove her combat prowess to her father Jaques, so he will allow her to enroll at Beacon, instead of her native Atlas Academy. After getting news that her older half-sister Yang Xiao Long has been accepted into Beacon, Ruby Rose decides to go shopping for a gift for her.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 2

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Ruins in the Fog”

At night, Rishia explains how she was taken away from her family by nobles to “pay off” her parents’ debts, until she was saved by Itsuki, inspiring her to join his party. The following day, Naofumi and his party travel onto the back of the Spirit Tortoise to find a way to stop it from reviving.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Kamuy Hopunire” season 2

Tanigaki informs Asirpa of Huci’s failing health, though Asirpa wishes to continue the search for the gold. They are joined by Nihei’s dog Ryu, who has followed the scent of his former master’s gun, now carried by Tanigaki. Meanwhile, Tsurumi tells Koito the truth behind the death of Lt. General Koujirou Hanazawa, former commander of the 7th.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Memento”

Surprised, Shinpei notes that Shadow-Ushio appeared much earlier than normal. She remembers the previous loop and wants to prevent all the deaths from Mother’s resurrection. She hides from Mio in his room. Shadow-Mio suddenly enters and attacks, but Ushio shields Shinpei.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part B

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Traitor”

Hange and Magath survey the occupied port, noticing that the flying boat is still intact, but the Jaegerists might destroy it any moment. An enormous amount of steam indicates that the Wall Titans have already crossed the sea, so the group must act fast. It becomes clear that they need the Azumabito engineers to service the boat and prepare it for flight. However, this would mean defending the Azumabito from the Jaegerists, even by wiping out all of them which Connie protests against.
