Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, March 30^th 2024, after the Event Afternoon

Yes, it is the end of the marvelous month of March, after an under-announced Event Afternoon (Lindsay’s sponsored night just loomed too anticipated).
As such during the Dinner Break we will be having our Monthly Survey, where our dear JAFWAites can express their opinion on the ranking of various programs previewed and other suggested possibilities, utilising a scalar grading system.
And later, we have the monthly Member’s Prize Draw, with so much good stuff for the Winner to choose from.

Your normal JAFWA program returns this week, after an enjoyable birthday bash last week. They just don’t make anime that way any more (though the background music seems to have improved).
Though this week we have the last regular episodes of “Spy x Family” for the foreseeable future. You will have to wait until the “Spy x Family” movie “Code White” comes to cinemas starting on April 18.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay did, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan in advance please.
We hope everybody enjoyed Greg’s choice of “HoiHoi-san” in February.

Spy x Family part 2b

This evening’s Episodes: “Berlint in Love / Nightfall’s Daily Life ” and “Part of the Family ”

Inspired by her favorite TV drama “Berlint in Love”, Becky heads to the Forgers’ home unannounced with the intention of wooing Loid so that she can marry him. However, her attempts of flirting confuses Loid and makes Yor rush her to the hospital, thinking she is drunk. Witnessing Yor’s strength, Becky concedes and askes Yor to teach her to be stronger so she can be more appealing to Loid.
While Loid was vacationing with his family on the Princess Lorelei, Fiona volunteered to take Loid’s missions and later, went to the mountain to train in order to prove her worth to Loid. After meeting Loid again and receiving his souvenir gift, Fiona secretly becomes giddy with lovesick happiness while still appearing aloof to him.
While taking the dog out for a walk, Loid tries to train Bond without much success, because it reminds the latter about the time he was mistreated as an experiment. After getting a future vision of a burning apartment, Bond leads Loid into the fire to rescue a puppy trapped inside and apprehend the arsonist lurking outside. Loid softly chides Bond for his recklessness but reassures Bond of his place as a Forger family member.

The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today (Dekiru Neko wa Ky? mo Y?utsu)

One day, a young woman named Saku took in a stray black cat who she later named Yukichi. However, as time went on, Yukichi grew large enough to be mistaken for a bear. Instead of being a threat though, Yukichi spends his time cooking food, doing laundry, and taking care of his owner after she comes home from hard days at work.

This evening’s Episode: “The Masterful Cat Is Able to DIY“

Yukichi’s homemade bentou (lunch box) leads Saku’s friends to the topic of marriage. But would Yukichi leave her for someone better? Who acts more childish? With Yukichi around one gets confused as to what a normal cat is like. After all, the masterful cat is so talented.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto)

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Wheat Stalks “

Coming from a walk in their medicinal herb fields, Maomao sees a servant girl banging at their door who grabs her the moment she sees her and asks for her help. She is taken to a brothel where she arrives at the scene of a double poisoning incident involving a courtesan and a well-dressed customer.

Ancient Magus Bride season 2 (Mah? Tsukai no Yome)

Chise Hatori, 15 years old. Lost, without hope, and without family, she is bought for money,… not by another person, but by a non-human sorcerer named Elias. Though she hesitates, she begins life anew as his apprentice and future wife. Now grown more confident in her role as a sleigh beggy, Chise was able to accept Elias and herself, if not necessarily everything about her situation. After Cartaphilus fell back into a slumber that would not last forever, Chise was able to go back to her regular life. Then she receives an invitation from a mutual aid organization for mages called the College..

Everyone is expelled from the dream world unconscious, except Philomena; now back in a more human body. Lizbeth prepares to resurrect Adam. Elias overpowers Alcyone and forcibly removes a spell Lizbeth placed on her artificial soul, restoring the programming Adam created her with.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Kidou Senshi Gandamu: Suisei no Majo)

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Tonight’s Episode: “The End of Hope “

Guel heads back to Asticassia to find evidence of Shaddiq’s crimes but is intercepted by Grassley House whilst they attempt to relocate Sarius. Elan-05, Nika, and Norea are also released and the latter goes on a rampage throughout Asticassia with her Gundam and drones to avenge the Earth Attack.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were not always enemies. Long before they had what was supposed to be their final encounter during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, the pair were fellow students, rivals, and friends. In another world, they would have been the twin shining stars of Jujutsu Sorcery, but one fateful event destroyed any hope of that ever happening. Turn back the clock to witness the mission that drove them to curse one another beyond even death.

Tonight’s Episode: “Right and Wrong“

The barely standing Nanami is confronted by a group of transfigured humans and uses his remaining strength to fight them all. After they’re defeated, Mahito appears and touches Nanami’s back, ready to use Idle Transfiguration on him. Just time for a couple of last words with guilt-ridden Yuji as he appears around the corner.

Undead Unluck

F?ko Izumo is known as a woman cursed with “Unluck.” F?ko brings misfortune to anyone who touches her and the scale is proportional to how long they had physical contact. She’s saved by Andy, a man who cannot die (“Undead”). He hopes to figure out a way to use F?ko’s misfortune to finally bring him death. The unlikely pair team up to complete missions given to them by the Book of Revelations, but if they or any of the other negators in their union fail, the book can punish humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Return“

The Roundtable continue to fight Victor. Juiz orders Top to get Fuuko and Shen away from the fight. However, Fuuko convinces him to take her back there. To help her, Shen gives her Andy’s card and a gun. Can Andy’s personlaity be restored?

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Tonight’s Episode: “Betting on a Moment“

After sadistically punishing Cid for neglecting her, Claire reveals she has replaced the still-absent Rose in the festival and insists Cid watch her from VIP seating. Cid sits beside Iris, who apologizes for the Zenon incident. They discuss the dark knight competitor, Beatrix the Elvish War Goddess, the festival’s very first champion, and Cid realizes Beatrix is Alpha’s aunt.

Goblin Slayer season 2

In a world of fantasy, adventurers come far and wide to join the Guild, in order to complete contracts for whatever jobs are available. An inexperienced priestess joins her first adventuring party, but comes into danger after her first adventurer contract involving goblins goes wrong. After the rest of her party is wiped out, she is saved by a man known as Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins with extreme prejudice. And when rumours of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next.

Tonight’s Episode: “Once There Was Youth, Now There Is Nothing but Ash“

Many years ago, Sword Maiden and her team defeat two demons, yet Sword Maiden is more thankful there were no goblins. Having mistakenly accepted a job to kill sea goblins, which turned out to be innocent gill-men, Goblin Slayer and the others ended up hunting a giant sea serpent. Sword Maiden visits Goblin Slayer personally.
