Screening on Saturday 22nd January 2022

Screening on the evening of Saturday, January 22nd 2022

JAFWA‘s Summer of 2022 continues. All the new reular series we intended to start in January have started, including our retro series (though February is still to come). We can still intrigue you with soem preview episodes of other anime produced in Japan. So come along this Saturday, as start screening interesting anime from 5:15PM.

We apologise for last week, where our preview episode turned out to be double-length, and pushed the program nearly 20 minutes late. It was such an exciting episode that none of our reviewers noticed it had been stretched out, nor did the audience when it was shown. We only worked it out after we realised that the Late Break had started so late. We will try to avoid this overrun with tonight’s preview episode. This preview will just drag out “Vivy”‘s cliff-hanger from last week a luttle longer.

Tsuki and Laika and Nosferatu

In addition to our regular program. We also screen various things during the Dinner Break. Like last week when we screened various anime music videos, one of our attendees asked anout this strange “Bubblegum Crisis” anime that came with its own music.
The scary thing is that he could not have been borns when BGC was made. Screening BGC was a staple of early JAFWA. To have someone not recoginise this cyberpunk anime classic, makes me feel old.
Does any one else want JAFWA to screen this anime gem once more? Maybe we could sneak an episode into the Dinner Break.

Excitement is growing over the new Mamoru Hosoda anime “Belle“, to appear at the cinema later this week.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

if you too would like to help JAFWA, and get rid of your unwanted recyclable containers, then please take them to Containers for Change, and quote JAFWA’s account number – C10505693.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
