Good News! JAFWA is a meeting of less than 100 people, so it should be safe for healthy people to attend so long as various hygiene precautions are taken.

This week we have an early evening preview item that shall hopefully inspire you, as well as our normal program.
However, we shall also say farewell to the complex plot of “Psycho Pass”, with the final episode of season 3.

There is a possibility that JAFWA and anime club POWA (screening Sundays in Joondalup) might join forces to host an Anime Quiz Night, perhaps on July 4^th. Anybody interested?

JAFWA was going to do a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on May 2^nd, down at Cannington. Bunnings has now indicated that it will be cancelled. We appreciate those volunteers who had volunteered to help out.

Fruits Basket (2019 remake)

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when touched by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

Tonight’s Episode: “Their Promise ”

A long time ago, Mira Konohata befriends a boy and makes a promise to discover an asteroid together. Upon entering high school, Mira discovers that the astronomy club has been merged with the geology club to form the earth sciences club. Upon checking the club out and meeting its members, Mira reunites with the boy she met back, Ao Manaka, who is not quite the person Mira recalls. However the Earth Sciences Club is failing, so some club activities are required.

Dr Stone

Typical student Taiju Oki tells his science-loving friend Senku Ishigami that he will confess his feelings to their classmate Yuzuriha Ogawa. He prepares to make his confession to Yuzuriha under a camphor tree on the school grounds, but his attempt is interrupted when a bright light appears in the sky. Taiju pushes Yuzuriha to the tree to protect her as the light petrifies them along with the entire human population. After 3700 years spent trapped in stone, Senku and Taiju are somehow revived from their petrified state six months apart in what they now call the Stone World.

This evening’s Episode: “Stone Road”

As Senku, Kohaku, and Chrome begin searching for the elements needed to create an antibiotic for Kohaku’s sister, they are aided by another villager named Suika. Needing more manpower to turn ironsand into iron, the gang send Suika to gain intel on what the villagers want. Finding food to be a common theme of the villager’s wants, Senku sets out to recreate ramen to win them over.

Mob Psycho 100 season 2

Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.

Tonight’s Episode: ““Even Then ~Continue Forward~ ”

The Psycho Helmet religion is taking off, even though they don’t know Mob. Mob wants to participate in the marathon to impress his crush Takane Tsubomi. His friends and associates give him various advice and assistance, but how ill he do in the actual marathon? Meanwhile, Tsubomi and her friend visit Reigen to ask for relationship advice. Tsubomi lies saying that she has a crush that is at her same school to test if Reigen was a con artist. Unfortunately, the esper organisation Claw has returned to make moves against Mob.

Fire Force (En’en no Shouboutai, literally “Blazing Firefighting Corps”)

In the year 198 of the Age of the Sun, Tokyo is a crowded cosmopolis. But the world’s most populous city is threatened by devils that cause people to burst into flame at random. The only ones who can stop it are the Pyrofighters, a team of specialized firefighters. The young Shinra, blessed with the ability to ignite his feet and travel at the speed of a rocket, wants nothing more than to be a hero, and knows that this is the place for him. But he’s not the best at following orders.

Tonight’s Episode: “Infernal Insects ”

Captain Obi examines Hibana’s research which indicates some kind of insect has been introduced into a human’s core to create Infernals. At Company 1, life seems normal, but then a group of Infernals are detected and the company is mobilized. Shinra and Arthur are ordered to stand aside, however they see someone use an insect to turn a human into an Infernal and they go in pursuit, only to encounter Lieutenant priests Flam Karim and Hoshimiya Rekka in the shadows. What will rookie Tamaki do?

Sword Art Online: Alicization (series 3 part 2) “War of Underworld”

Kazuto has been recruited to assist in testing an experimental FullDive machine, Soul Translator (STL), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than the previous machine he had played to help develop an artificial intelligence for the Ministry of Defense (MOD) named A.L.I.C.E. He tests the STL by entering a virtual reality cyberspace created with The Seed package, named UnderWorld (UW). In the UW, the flow of time proceeds a thousand times faster than in the real world, and Kirito’s memories of what happens inside are restricted.

Tonight’s Episode: “Blood and Life”

After, having unleashed the laser bomb, Alice finds the chief of the Ogres, Furgr, still alive, and is attacked. Having figured out that Vecta is after Alice, the human army create a decoy force, consisting of Renly, Bercouli, Alice, Sheyta, Kirito, Ronie, Tiese, 1000 human volunteer soldiers, 200 priests, and 4 dragons, and head out to the Dark Territory to draw the dark army away from the corridor of the human empire. With the dark mages having figured out why their art failed, Dee Eye Ill sacrifices orcs to generate more spatial resources and allow them to cast their dark art, with Emperor Vecta’s approval.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba)

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Smell of Enchanting Blood”

The disguised Muzan Kibutsuji has turned a passerby into a demon, that goes on a rampage, forcing Tanjiro to subdue him and giving Muzan the opportunity to slip away, although not before he hears Tanjiro vow to find him again. Police arrive and attempt to pull Tanjiro off, but he is helped by a nearby demon, Tamayo, and her companion Yushiro. While she is a demon, Tamayo is also a doctor and hence believes in the sanctity of human life. Finally a clue to re-humanifying Nezuko may be at hand.

Cop Craft

15 years ago, an unknown hyperspace gate opened over the Pacific. Beyond this gate lies Reto Semaani, a strange alternate world where fairies and demons live. San Teresa City — a city where over two million immigrants live from both worlds. As a result, there are the haves and the have-nots. Here is the world’s newest “city of dreams.” But in the shadow of the chaos, crime is rampant: drugs, prostitution, and weapon trafficking. The detectives who stand up to these heinous crimes are in the San Teresa City Police. When the detective Kei Matoba and the alternate-world knight Tirana — two individuals who differ in gender, personality, and even world of origin — meet, an incident erupts.

Tonight’s Episode: “A King Maker”

While Kei tries to get info from a sick informant about Hellmandes, Cecil and Tilarna the cat head to the city’s sanitation department but are too late to stop the garbage from being dumped. Tilarna jumps into the trash and tracks down the crossbow, but it gets destroyed in a trash compactor. Will Kei get home in time? Suddenly, news breaks that a candidate for Mayor named Kahns was shot by a Semanian with no criminal record.

Psycho-Pass season 3

In a future Japan where the psychological profiling system Sybil determines your place in society, or your removal for the good of society, now veteran Inspector Akane Tsunemori has been arrested by Public Security, for putting the public in danger. The unfolding story and the truth Tsunemori seeks involves two new investigators: Arato Shindo and Kei Mikhail Ignatov.

Tonight’s Episode: “Cubism” (finale)

Enforcer Kisaragi admits to Inspector Ignatov that she was manipulated by Azusawa into facilitating the car crash with Kira and his partner. Former Enforcer Kunizuka returns to interview Unit One to record a documentary about their team. Public Safety meets with Foreign Affairs who explains that Bifrost appears to consist of Congressmen who lead the organization, Inspectors who are their direct subordinates, and Foxes who are civilians manipulated into doing their bidding. Kogami theorizes that Bifrost fears being discovered by Sibyl and so they still seek the death of Governer Komiya.
