Annual General Meeting before JAFWA Screening
This it!
After mentioning it for the last couple of months, it is finally upon us!
Please be advised that on the 20th of July 2019 the Japanese Animation Fans of Western Australia will be holding it’s 2019 Annual General Meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Collins Street Centre in South Perth from 3:00pm onwards. The regular screening will commence afterwards, and during the dinner break the committee election will be held.
We request that all current members attend to meet quorum requirements and to have your voices heard!
If you have any matters you would like to have raised at the meeting, please email them through to jafwa.anime@gmail.com. Preferably sufficiently in advance so that we can deal with them.
Currently, this is the list of submitted AGM agenda items.
The JAFWA committee has a few constitutional amendments to make that requires the approval and voting by the JAFWA membership.

Screening
Below is the program for the evening of Saturday July 20th, 2019.
Thank you in advance for all attending the AGM, and sticking around for the election during the Dinner Break.
Not that we think we need to bribe you to attend this week, or any such thing, this will be more of a reward. This week we will have two preview items, one before the Dinner Break, one after the Late Break. Due to a mistake, at the last JAFWA session I suggested that we would have the first episode of “Dr Stone”. However, we now know that it is a double-length episode so we can’t fit it in next week, it will have to be August. Hopefully our replacement preview item will be acceptable.
SBS World Movies continues it Ghibli marathon over each weekend in July, though it is dubbed into English. However, on the night of Wednesday 17th July, the next channel over SBS Viceland is showing the live action version of “Attack on Titan”.
What is your favourite episode of “Mobile Police Patlabor”? Saturday August 10th has been declared Patlabor Day, so we should commemerate. But we only have room in the JAFWA program for a single episode. Which one shall it be?

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime)
Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster.

While beastkeeper Phobio fumes over his humiliation at Milim’s hands, Tear and Footman, two of Clayman’s harlequins, approach and convince him to become a Demon Lord himself so he can get revenge on Milim. All he must do is let the monster Charybdis possess his body and maintain control.
Charybdis is the mindless ruler of the skies, focused only on destruction. It has summoned thirteen Megalodon from the Spirit World to aid in its rampage and is heading to Jura to attack Milim. Can Rimuru, his nation and the Dwargon Empire’s forces hope to stop Charybdis and its summoned Megalodons?
Preview item – Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san (Helpful Fox Senko-san)
Kuroto Nakano is a young salaryman with a very unhappy and stressful life, almost entirely occupied by his job at the company he works for. One night, after yet another day spent overworking, the moment he opens the door of his home he finds a seemingly young girl with fox ears and a tail cooking dinner for him – her name is Senko, an 800 year old fox demi-god. Senko has been sent on Earth from the spirit world to relieve Kuroto from his unhappy life and help him find happiness again.
Tonight’s Episode: “I’m Going to Pamper Him to His Heart’s Content! ”
In the spirit world, three fox-like women are viewing a middle-aged man who appears to be overworked and burdened by his heavily daunting tasks at his work. As a result, he produces a dark and suffocating aura of negativity. Therefore, one of the fox girls, an 800-year old demi-fox by the name of Senko, vows to pamper him to his hearts content.
Sword Art Online: Alicization
Kazuto has been recruited to assist in testing an experimental FullDive machine, Soul Translator (STL), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than the previous machine he had played to help develop an artificial intelligence for the Ministry of Defense (MOD) named A.L.I.C.E. He tests the STL by entering a virtual reality cyberspace created with The Seed package, named UnderWorld (UW). In the UW, the flow of time proceeds a thousand times faster than in the real world, and Kirito’s memories of what happens inside are restricted.
Tonight’s Episode: “Administrator ”
With the appearance of Cardinal, Administrator severs the outside link to the world and places floor 100 of the Axiom church into a dark void. For the secret of the Sword Golem is terrible indeed.
Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)
Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.
Tonight’s Episode: “In the Midst of Turmoil ”
Dejected by Naofumi’s rejection, Princess Melty goes to her father to talk, and cause problems. Meanwhile Naofumi is met by a small party wishing to join after he saved Lute Village, their hometown. How can they convince Naofumi of their loyalty? The Sword and Bow Heroes also have issue with Naofumi.
Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland)
Emma is an 11-year-old orphan living in Grace Field House, a small orphanage housing her and her 37 siblings. Life had never been better; with food that tasted gourmet, plush beds, snow-white uniforms, and the love of their “Mother” (the caretaker) Isabella, as well the litany of daily exams that Emma always aced with her two best friends Ray and Norman. The orphans are basically allowed to do whatever they want, except to venture out of the compounds or the gate that connects the house to the outside world. Then she finds out the truth. Determined to break out of Grace Field House, Norman and Emma partner up with Ray to peel away at the façade of the farm and find a way to escape with all their other siblings.
Tonight’s Episode: “291045 ”
The trio begin practicing tag with the other children in teams and Norman moves the date of their escape forward giving them just ten days to prepare. Later that evening, the trio share their secret with two other children, with Norman trying to determine who is the informant.
Overlord season 3
With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination. Without human conscience due to being undead, he is motivated only to continue searching for other players from Yggdrasil and to gain power to better protect the children and home of him and his forty former companions. Lord Ains Ooal Gown maintains his mantle of Overlord and leads the Great Tomb of Nazarick unto the world stage, directly into a vicious power struggle between two great empires.
Tonight’s Episode: “War of Words ”
Emperor Jircniv of the Baharuth Empire travels to the Great Tomb of Nazarick to apologize for the invasion of Nazarick, and is immediately given a show of Nazarick’s power. Diplomacy, Cowering, Betrayal and Intrigue result.
Preview item – Cop Craft
15 years ago, an unknown hyperspace gate opened over the Pacific. Beyond this gate lies Reto Semaani, a strange alternate world where fairies and demons live. San Teresa City — a city where over two million immigrants live from both worlds. As a result, there are the haves and the have-nots. Here is the world’s newest “city of dreams.” But in the shadow of the chaos, crime is rampant: drugs, prostitution, and weapon trafficking. The detectives who stand up to these heinous crimes are in the San Teresa City Police. When the detective Kei Matoba and the alternate-world knight Tirana — two individuals who differ in gender, personality, and even world of origin — meet, an incident erupts.
Tonight’s Episode: “Cop Show, Witch Craft ”
While performing what appears to be a routine drug bust on a couple of criminals in San-Teresa looking to trade a kidnapped fairy, one of the suspects breaks free and kills Kei Matoba’s partner. This results in a diplomatic problem, and Kei is ordered to partner with Semanian noble Tilarna Exedilica, who proclaims herself a Knight of Mirvor. And has no clue about Earth and its technology.
Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3
Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.
Tonight’s Episode: “Ruler of the Walls ”
Erwin justifies his decision not to evacuate the populated Orvud District, due to Abnormal Titans targeting populations, which means he can lure the Reiss Titan into a trap. Cannons, bombs and Titan Eren, can nothing stop the crawling Reiss Titan? If Historia is to be Queen, she must act.
Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)
Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.
Tonight’s Episode: “The ‘G’ in Guts ”
While Bucciarati’s remaining crew stops fleeing for lunch, Narancia accidentally splashes red wine onto a man’s white suit. When he demands compensation, the paranoid crew thinks he is an enemy and savagely beats him up. But they are already found as Squalo and Tiziano of the boss’s elite guard squad send in their Stands Clash and Talking Head to destroy our protagonists.
