Below is the program for the evening of Saturday June 29^th, 2019.

Remember to leave Supanova 2019 – Perth convention slightly early this Saturday to attend JAFWA.

With the Winter Solstice past, and the length of days now waxing, perhaps we can convince ourselves to take psychological relief that the end of winter may be in sight. Though to strengthen that placebo cure for the Winter Blues, we have a short movie this week at JAFWA, on the importance of saying goodbye properly.
This will also be our end of month screening, which means we will have a monthly survey to see what has been approved by our dear JAFWAites, along with our monthly Member’s Prize draw.

A reminder that the JAFWA AGM and committee elections are coming up in July. It is officially time to start thinking of your election pitches and how you will overlord it when you get elected to the JAFWA committee. Some of our dear JAFWAites looked thoughtful last week, when they were offered the chance at Glory (as well as some interesting experience to add to their resumes).

Also, please raise any issues you think need to be discussed at the AGM via the suggestions sheets, and/or e-mail so that the JAFWA committee can add and address the issue properly on the AGM agenda.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue (My Housemate Is on My Lap, But Sometimes, on My Head)

Subaru, a 23-year-old introverted mystery writer, who adopts the cat Haru by chance. While he initially remains distant, they gradually bond with each other. Haru and Subaru rarely understand each other, but their misunderstandings lead to a common goal.

This evening’s Episode: “What Connects Us ”

Ookami Nana introduces her brother Yugo, who happens to be a big fan of Subaru’s novels. Shortly afterwards, Subaru heads back home with Haru, leaving Hachi behind. From Haru’s perspective, she is happy to see Hachi again, but feels that her new purpose in life is to provide companionship to Subaru as he now considers him family in addition to Hachi, after the trials on the street these cats survived.

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster.

This evening’s Episode: “Demon Lord Milim Attacks ”

Two days after forming an alliance with Rimuru, King Gazel visits Jura Tempest again, bringing counciler Vesta, who was responible for Kaijin and his men being exiled from the Dwarven Kingdom. Gabiru and his sister, along with several other lizardmen, also become Rimuru’s servants, evolving into dragonewts after Rimuru names them. Some time later, Milim Nava, one of the Demon Lords, takes an interest in the Jura Forest after the Orc Lord’s defeat and approaches Rimuru.

One Punch Man season 2

An increase in villain activity has the Hero Organization worried that the “Earthdoom prophecy” will soon come to pass. In an effort to alleviate the overworked heroes, they turn to villains themselves for help. The decision looks ill-advised as at least one villain is more interested in helping the prophecy along than preventing it. Meanwhile, the invincible Saitama is still bored, trying to find a decent challenge.

This evening’s Episode: “The Uprising of the Monsters ”

The Martial Arts tournament continues, with Lightning Max loses his fight with Suiryu and Snakebite Snek faces his opponent Benpatsu. But news comes there is a plague of monsters, but does the tournament stop? For Genos is on the job. As are a lot of other heroes, and it is not all going well for the heroes.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Y?sha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

Tonight’s Episode: “Curse Shield ”

Learning of mysterious disease on a village, Naofumi’s party learn the disease began after Sword Hero Ren killed a Dragon nearby and left the body to rot instead of properly disposing of it. Monsters had gathered around its corpse and the air had picked up molecules of the decomposing body and become toxic, poisoning a nearby village. Naofumi’s party set out for the corpse, which resurrects into a zombie dragon. During their fight, the dragon swallows one of the party, seemingly killing her, which triggers Naofumi’s despair and rage to activate his cursed “Rage Shield”.

Movie – Yakusoku no Nanaya Matsuri (Starlight Promises)

Shoma Mihara is a first-year high school student. Shoma hasn’t seen his good friend Atsushi in 3.5 years, ever since they lost contact with each other after elementary school. One day, Atsushi gets in contact with Shoma to invite him to a rare festival, so they can meet up and talk. Shoma goes to the “Tanabata Seven Night Festival” deep in the mountains, but Atsushi is not there. Instead, a girl named Shiori who also has a person she wants to meet is there. The festival’s program manager Kanna suggests that he stay until the festival is over, and so Shoma and Shiori help Kanna prepare for the festival. Shoma and Shiori then get wrapped up in some strange events happening in the town.

Overlord season 3

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination. Without human conscience due to being undead, he is motivated only to continue searching for other players from Yggdrasil and to gain power to better protect the children and home of him and his forty former companions. Lord Ains Ooal Gown maintains his mantle of Overlord and leads the Great Tomb of Nazarick unto the world stage, directly into a vicious power struggle between two great empires.

Tonight’s Episode: ““Butterfly Entangled in a Spider’s Web ”

The hired gangs of Workers (sub-standard Adventurers) arrive at Nazarick and briefly explore the outside and discover immense riches. They all decide to move deeper inside, except for Green Leaf, who decides to stay outside as a guard and look for other routes inside, while also secretly using the other groups as Canaries. Inside Nazarick, the groups are quickly separated in their eagerness to find more treasure. After all, Momon the Admantite adventurer has their backs.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Story of the Jorogumo Silk Spider ”

Hyakkimaru and Dororo come across the female spider-like demon Jorogumo, who has captured a man. Hyakkimaru attacks the demon and wounds her, but she escapes. The travellers enter a nearby village which has a problem with men disappearing at night. The next day, the kindly Yajiro heads out on a trail and finds the ailing demon, who appears in the form of a beautiful woman.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3

Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.

Tonight’s Episode: “Wish ”

Levi’s squad burst into the underground chamber beneath the chapel and force the Interior Police into falling back to their second defensive position. Meanwhile, Rod Reiss tries to get his daughter Historia to inherit power of the Founding Titan and save humanity. Will Eren co-operate? What will Kenny do?

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Final Mission From the Boss ”

Bucciarati’s crew arrives in Venice and read the final mission from the boss on the data disc. The instructions are for only one person to take Trish to the top of the bell tower of the church on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Bucciarati takes Trish ashore, but also wears one of Giorno’s ladybug brooches as a tracking device while the others wait in their speedboat. But will there be a joyful reunion between father and daughter?
