Below is the program for the evening of Saturday September 22^nd, 2018.

We presume a few people will be down in Madurah at RahCon 2018 Pop Culture Convention. More details here and here.

Don’t forget to leave in time in order to get to the JAFWA start.
For our preview item this week will be somewhat fun themed.

Hopefully it will be a warm Spring night this week. Still, it can’t hurt to bring along warm clothing, and possibly an umbrella.

We hope the weather will be more clement for the Event arvo on Saturday 29th. We have invited cosplayers groups for a free photo shoot on the day.
We will be supplying backdrops and photographer. Jafwaites get involved!

Japanese Film Festival

Each year the Japanese Film Festival tours the major cities of Australia. It will reach Perth soon. See the list of movies they will be showing at various locations.

• Saturday September 22^nd – 24^th 2018 — Southern Hemisphere Open 2018 . This family-friendly event is WA’s biggest tabletop gaming event and will transform Ascot Racecourse into a game lover’s paradise!
• Thursday September 27^th 14:00-16:00 — Anime Arvo Success Library, 11 Wentworth Parade (Cnr of Beeliar Drive), Success.
• Saturday September 29^th 12:30-16:30 — JAFWA’s next Event afternoon, of make your own fun. We have invited cosplayers groups for a free photo shoot on the day. We will supply backdrops and photographer. Jafwaites get involved !

Japanese Calendars

JAFWA member Dale is ready to do his annual bulk ordering of calendars from Japan. The entire list has not yet been released, and there may yet be some release date changes. However, I should be able to order anything from this site if people would like. Like the DVD orders, Dale prefers about a 50% deposit up front. Don’t forget that the exchange rate sometimes changes between now and release date.

CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The long=awaited sequel. Sakura and Syaoran are starting junior high school. With the Final Judgment passed, Sakura thinks school life will be quiet, but then all her cards suddenly turn blank. The mysterious new power she discovers will change how she thinks about her powers.

This evening’s Episode: “Sakura and the Sleep Labyrinth”

While Akiho is paying a visit to Sakura’s home, she is put to sleep by the powers of another card. Sakura and Kero chase after it, until they discover that the entire house is surrounded by an intricate labyrinth.

Sora Yorimo Tooi Basho (aka A Place Further than the Universe)

Mari Tamaki is a second-year high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared three years ago. Joined by two other girls, Hinata Miyake and Yuzuki Shiraishi, they join an expedition headed towards the Antarctic.

This evening’s Episode: “Partial Friendship”

The girls arrive at the Showa Station where they will be stationed. As everyone gets the station ready, Yuzuki, who had just been offered a role for a drama, becomes curious about what point she officially became friends with the others.

Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work)

The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone… she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out. The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Food Poisoning”

A band of Vibrio bacteria invades the stomach. Basophil warns the immune cells about itin a confusing and cryptic manner. The immune cells set out to defeat the invaders, apart from the weakling Eosinophil, who will probably need to be rescued.

preview item – Asobi Asobase (worship of fun)

Three classmates play simple hand games. One of the girls is good at games, but hates them as she always lost to her older sister and forced to do chores while growing up. Another girl is of American descent, but raised in Japan, and who only pretends to be bad at Japanese. Another girl usually observes their games, and loses to the other girls.

Tonight’s movie: “Equivalent Exchange / Cheap Thrills / Pleasure Seekers / The Kind Pervert”

Annoyed by her noisy classmates Hanako and Olivia, Kasumi shows them how to play a proper game of “look over there”. Struggling in her English grades, Kasumi tries to get English lessons from Olivia, who secretly doesn’t know any English, in exchange for teaching her Japanese pastimes. To this end, Kasumi sets up a Pastime Club and recruits Hanako and Olivia as members, with their first activity being playing in an inflatable pool.

ReLIFE

IKaizaki Arata is 27 years old and has held a full time job for a grand total of 3 months (quitting because it “wasn’t a fit for his talents”). He spends his days getting turned down at job interviews, lying to his friends about having a job, and moping around his apartment. When his parents finally get sick of sending him money he is thrown a lifeline by Yoake Ryou, a representative of the RELife Company. RELife gives jobless deadbeats like Arata a new lease on life… By giving them a pill that makes them look like teenagers again and having them repeat high school.

Tonight’s Episode: “Seed”

Chizuru loses the position of class representative to Rena. Realizing she was preoccupied with her feelings for Arata, Chizuru confronts Ryo asking him if Arata is a ReLIFE subject.

Sword Art Online side-story – Gun Gale Online

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s movie: “Psycho Llenn”

After the recovered Pitohui finishes off MMTM all by herself, Fukaziroh pins an uncertain Llenn in place while she and the rest of SHINC launch an attack on Pitohui and M.

Lupin the Third – Part V

The series is set in modern-day France, and follows the thief Arsène Lupin III, and his associates the marksman Daisuke Jigen, the swordsman Goemon Ishikawa XIII, the con artist Fujiko Mine along with his nemesis Inspector Koichi Zenigata, and are joined by the Ami Enan, a teenage hacker.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Lupin Game”

The chase continues, with Lupin, Daisuke, Goemon and Ami arriving at an airport. They eventually become trapped in a hangar by Zenigata and surrounded by the police. However, a much more terrible online game targetting Lupin is unleashed.

Overlord

Momonga, master of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild, was logged in to the Virtual Reality MMO Yggdrasil on the day it closed. Instead of being logged out he found his VR game had somehow become a real world that he was now trapped in. As a massively over-powered Lich Lord, there’s very little that can threaten him, so Momonga begins exploring the world surrounding his guild headquarters and meeting with its inhabitants in the hopes of finding anyone else from Earth trapped in this world with him.

Tonight’s Episode: “True Vampire”

Shalltear is outside Nazarick, trying to find Martial Arts users with Sebas and Solution. After encountering some bandits, she sends Sebas and Solution back to the kingdom and goes to the Bandits base. Events shall occur that lead to Ainz/Momonga hearing that she has Betrayed Nazarick

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project)

Himekawa Koyuki plays a popular social game known as the Magical Girl Raising Project, that secretly has the ability to grant players a 1-in-10,000 chance of becoming a real-life magical girl. Each of the magical girls possess unique abilities and earn Magical Candies by protecting people and performing good deeds. However, shortly after Himekawa Koyuki becomes the magical girl Snow White, the administration has decided that sixteen magical girls in a certain city is too many, and the number needs to be reduced…

Tonight’s Episode: “Server Down for Maintenance”

Attempting a pincer attack, Swim Swim is knocked back after Cranberry uses light and sound to attack her liquid form. Upon becoming distracted upon discovering that Swim Swim is actually an elementary child, Cranberry is vulnerable to Tama’s attack…

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “Highway Star, Part 2”

Believing there is a connection between Highway Star’s user and the Futatsumori Tunnel he resided in, Josuke gets in contact with Koichi, who suspects the user to be someone hospitalized from a traffic accident stealing nutrients to heal himself. Meanwhile, at the Kawajiri household, Shinobu finds a British Blue cat hanging around the basement.
