To celebrate, let us watch a movie about a napping princess. As usual on a movie night, anime cosplay gets in for FREE!

Sorry, but we will have to leave you in suspense as to how last week’s episode of the “Ancient Magus Bride” will play out. Hopefully the Lupin III OAV we have tonight may help express our horror of the situation.

Synopsis

Sakura Quest

Yoshino Koharu is a young girl trying to look for a job in Tokyo, but is only met with a series of rejections. However, she has a seemingly lucky break when she receives a job offer to work with the tourism board of the economically struggling Manoyama village as their “Queen”. With no other choice, Yoshino accepts the offer and travels to Manoyama only to find out that she was hired based on a case of mistaken identity and that her contract term is for one year instead of the one day, as she had initially thought. With nowhere else to go, Yoshino reluctantly becomes Queen of Manoyama.

This evening’s Episode: “The Fairy’s Recipe”

Queen Yoshino and her ministers help Shiori harvest her family’s crops, and meet Shiori’s older sister Sayuri, who works as a nurse for a hospital in a neighboring town. Meanwhile, Yoshino organizes the C-Rank Gourmet, which is plan to come up with a signature dish for Manoyama that will hopefully draw tourists to the town. Rather than making their won dishes, perhaps thay had better check what the local restaurants cook?

In a forest inhabited by tiny hunanlike creatures and talking animals, the story focuses on the daily lives and adventures of two of those tiny women living together in a house in a tree.

This evening’s Episode: “Yesterday’s Dark Red / Marketplace Shanty”

While Hakumei is cheerful, outgoing and prefers to be outside, Mikochi is more introverted and prefers to stay indoors. These differences will set the tone for their friendship. Riding on insects and birds, creating tools from the forest and living their normal lives, day to day chores can be the biggest adventure in a small world full of wonders.

Fune wo Amu (aka The Great Passage)

Araki is a veteran editor for the dictionary department at the Genbu Shob? publishing company. He is looking for a successor now that he’s approaching retirement age. After Majime Mitsuya — a salesman who’s a poor talker — meets Masashi Nishioka — Araki’s coworker who is sociable and frivolous — Araki overhears their conversation and decides to recruit Majime into the department. The “odd couple” work together to compile a medium-sized Japanese dictionary titled “The Great Passage”.

This evening’s Episode: “Love”

Majime’s search for his cat at night was like a dream, but the new person at his residence is something else. What good is all the words in the world to the man who was born to write a dictionary, if he can’t use them when he needs to? Can Nishioka come to the rescue?

Movie – Napping Princess: The Story of the Unknown Me (Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari) aka Ancien and the Magic Tablet

Two concurrent settings: a near-future Japan and Heartland, a fantastical realm. The main character, Kokone Morikawa, has strange dreams of Heartland while taking naps. In these dreams, Heartland is a society entirely revolving around cars; the King’s castle is a car factory, and his subjects all come to it to make a constant stream of new cars. His daughter, Ancien (who appears as a younger Kokone), has a “magic tablet” computer she uses to give life to various machines: notably, a blue toy bear named Joy, and a motorcycle named Heart. The king disapproves of this, however, and orders Ancien confined to her tower. Additionally, the society of Heartland is under threat from a gigantic monster of molten metal called the Colossus. The king builds giant robots to face the Colossus. Ancien, spying a motorcycle-driving subject of the king’s named Peach, decides to ally with him and seek to defeat the Colossus together with him, while the king’s chief adviser Bewan plots against the king and Ancien alike.

In normal Japan, Kokone is finishing up her school term, considering where to go to college, and reconnecting with old friend Morio who has returned from Tokyo from his first year in college. Kokone lives with her single father Momotar?; her mother perished in an accident while Kokone was still young, and Kokone complains that her father never told her much about her mother. Momotar? is an eccentric car mechanic and has a jacket similar to Peach’s, a blue bear doll, a motorcycle, and a cracked tablet, all similar to the ones seen in Kokone’s dreams.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (God’s Blessing on this Beautiful World) series 2

Kazuma Satou wasn’t looking for anything beyond his simple high school shut-in existence. But one untimely death later and he finds himself before the goddess Aqua with the chance to be deposited in a fantasy kingdom that is in need of heroes to defeat a demon lord. Things don’t look good from the moment he arrives and so Kazuma decides to ditch the whole “save the world” thing and just try to become rich and live comfortably. Unfortunately, the various eccentric companions he is saddled with aren’t really helping with that goal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Goodbye to This Irritating Living World!”

Kazuma is surprised to discover that Vanir, whom he soundly deafeated last episode, had an extra life and has since quit his position as a commander to work at Wiz’s shop, striking up a business partnership to sell products from Kazuma’s world. After making a somewhat regretful sword purchase, Kazuma and his party go on a quest to eliminate a group of Lizard Runners.

Lupin the Third – Part 4

The internationally infamous Arsène Lupin, master thief and unrepentant womaniser, continues to seek out ever more challenging heists to pull off. With him goes an eccentric band of misfits; Jigen the scruffy sharpshooter, Fujiko the femme fatal of dubious loyalty, and Goemon the stoic swordsman. And close on their heels no matter where Lupin and his gang end up, the unrelenting Inspector Zenigata. Determined to put Lupin and his cohorts in prison for the seemingly endless list burglaries and thefts they have already pulled off.

Tonight’s OAV: “Venice of the Dead”

Rebecca invites Lupin to one of her mansions, near Venice, in order to sign the papers for their divorce. Suddenly, a horde of zombies attack the islands, and the two barely manage to escape. But now, Lupin needs to steal the evidence so that the world may never learn the truth.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “Yukako Yamagishi Falls in Love, Part 1”

Koichi meets with classmate Yukako Yamagishi who confesses her love for him, but also loses her temper at the thought of being turned down. When she leaves, Koichi realizes that her hair has been left behind in his drink. The next day, Yukako becomes angered with the class representative for insulting Koichi, using her Stand Love Deluxe, to attempt to burn the class rep alive. Josuke and Okuyasu suggest that Koichi act like a delinquent to lose her interest, but will that really work?
