No Screening until Saturday August 12^th

There will be no JAFWA screening on August 5^th – it being the first Saturday of the month, JAFWA’s usual weekend off.
Do not fear this winter of our discontent – after all the days are surely getting longer, and soon we hope warmer.

Know well, dear JAFWAites, that when JAFWA returns on Saturday August 12^th we shall know what two new series you voted for in last month’s survey. And there will be a preview item. To be revealed next week, until then feel free to speculate.

• Sunday August 20^th 2017 — Collector Zone! Toy and Hobby Fair at Craigie Leisure Centre.
• August 24^th – September 20^th 2017 — Studio Ghibli movies at cinemas – see Celebrate Studio Ghibli
• Saturday August 26^th 2017 — Evolve-con from 9AM in Perth Town Hall.
• November 1^st to 5^th 2017 — Japanese Film Festival at Hoyts Carousel, Cannington.
• Friday December 3^rd 2017 — next Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) to be held in Subiaco. You can apply until September 6^th.

Culture Notes and News

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are approaching, and the anime movie Akira is in many people’s minds.

For those of you waiting for a fourth Evangelion, artwork has been released. Thanks to Karen for pointing this out to me.

Also, did you know that there is a vending machine museum? The museum was opened by the Japan Automated Vending Machinery Manufacturers Association in Kagawa Town, Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture on April 3rd 2012. Their aim is to tell everyone about vending machines including their history.
