The final episode of “Working!!” is unexpectedly double length, so we won’t have room for “Sweetness and Lightning” this week. Spooky isn’t it.
The Dinner Break will also be shortened to account for tonight’s episode of “Bubblegum Crisis”.

JAFWA attended the inaugural 2017 Madman Anime Festival Perth – a fantastic weekend of anime and manga enthusiasts, and those of us who enable such enthusiasm. We met many wonderful new friends and got to promote our club with great success. A big thanks to Nathan Kershaw from Madman for all his support and energy in arranging and supporting us. We look forward to the next Madman event in Perth!

In fact we would like to say Thank You to all the generous organisations that help support JAFWA – Madman, Tactics, Little Robot, Shumi Shop, Tokyo Underground, Comic Zone, and Quality Comics.

Synopsis

Akagami no Shirayukihime – (Shirayuki (“Snow white”) princess of the red hair)

Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.

Still in Tanbarun, Raji and Shirayuki continue to let their relationship grow as they spend more and more time together, intriguing everyone in the castle and growing impressed of Raji’s sudden change in character. Meanwhile Mihaya returns and reveals to Zen his encounter with Kazuki, revealing new information. Kazuki is revealed to have a partner and they have both discovered that Shirayuki is in Tanbarun and are currently on their way to capture her.

Working!!! season 3

The little restaurant of Wagnaria has a very eccentric staff that, against all odds, keep the place running and the customers coming back. Amidst the scheming assistant chef, the blasé boss, the katana wielding head waitress, the androphobe and the freeloader is Takanashi Souta, a high school student lured into working here by his obsession with anything small and cute … like waitress Taneshima Popura.

As Takahashi S?ta stops showing up at work, the manager Kyoko learns that he has been spending a lot more time crossdressing because of his mother, who demands he be honest with his feelings. Worried she is the cause of her problem, Inami Mahiru confronts Takahashi and tells him how she thinks of her, but his mother catches him and forces him to quit working at Wagnaria. Inami is determined to sort things out with Takahashi’s mother, but her quest will have her confront each of the Takanashi sisters along the way.

retro series – BubbleGum Crisis

In the near future, Tokyo was left flattened from a great earthquake. A new city, MegaTokyo, was then recreated with the aid of a multi-national company, Genom Corp. Genom created and mass-produced biomechanical creatures called Boomers to aid in the restoration of MegaTokyo. When the Boomers began to run out of control, the ADPolice at first tried to stop them, but they proved to be very difficult to deal with. Under the looming Boomer threat, a group of four girls from varying sections of society banded together. Calling themselves The Knight Sabers, they were the only ones with enough firepower and resourcefullness to defend the fledgling MegaTokyo from Genom and its berserk Boomers.

This evening’s Episode: “Red Eyes”

A group of fake Knight Sabers are ruining the group’s reputation, leading to a fight against a returning foe. Anri (from last episode) seeks vengeance for the death of Sylvie.

Ore Monogatari! (My Love Story!)

Takeo Gouda is tall. No, Takeo Gouda is huge. He’s a high-schooler in a giant’s body. That’s been great for all the school sporting clubs he was part of, but less useful in his attempts to find love. But the real problem there is his handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who ends up getting confessions from everyone Takeo likes. In fact it happens so often Takeo now expects it. And then one day, quite by accident, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato …

Takeo and the others invite Mariya to join them for a festival being held at a university, with Rinko and Mariya bonding over their admiration for Takeo. Later, Makoto catches on that Mariya’s feelings towards Takeo are indeed romantic. How will Takeo deal with this?

ReLIFE

Kaizaki Arata is 27 years old and has held a full time job for a grand total of 3 months (quitting because it “wasn’t a fit for his talents”). He spends his days getting turned down at job interviews, lying to his friends about having a job, and moping around his apartment. When his parents finally get sick of sending him money he is thrown a lifeline by Yoake Ryou, a representative of the RELife Company. RELife gives jobless deadbeats like Arata a new lease on life… By giving them a pill that makes them look like teenagers again and having them repeat high school.

Tonight’s Episode: “This Isn’t the First Time”

It is the Golden Week holiday and Kaizaki isn’t expecting his fellow classmates to invite themselves over for an impromptu study session. Can Kaizaki maintain the fiction that he is a high-school student with the sudden invasion of his privacy?

Kae Serinuma is a fujoshi, a female otaku who loves reading yaoi material and imagining men together in romantic relationships, both fictional and real. After one of her favorite anime characters is killed off, the shock causes Kae to suddenly lose a lot of weight, becoming a beautiful girl that catches the eye of four beautiful boys at her school. Despite learning about Kae’s bizarre tendencies, the four boys, along with another fujoshi girl named Shima Nishina, all fall for Kae and begin competing with each other for her affection, much to Kae’s frustration as she wants them to get along with each other.

This evening’s Episode: “Can She Do It? A Real Life Otome Game”

Kae Serinuma is a chubby fujoshi who enjoys shipping boys together in yaoi pairings. One night, as Kae watches the latest episode of the Mirage Saga anime, she becomes horrified after her favorite character, Shion, is killed off. After spending an entire week locked up in her room due to shock, Kae emerges to find she has lost all of her weight. Kae’s new-found beauty quickly attracts the attention of her male schoolmates.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero)

Being teleported to a fantasy world means you’re the chosen one, right? Natsuki Subaru certainly thought so, but it seems he’s not the fated hero, he’s just another guy in a world full of wizards, warriors and demi-humans. Still, there are decent people in this world and Subaru quickly finds people willing to lend him a hand, people he wants to help in return. But how can a mere high school student hope to challenge the monstrous and magical forces of this world? After all he only gets one shot at this, right?

Tonight’s Episode: “The Outside of Madness”

Subaru goes inside the mansion to see it littered with bodies. He eventually goes in to an icy room and freezes to death; then respawns back by the appa merchant’s stall where he hugs Rem and loses his sanity. Crusch and her servant, Felix try to heal him from most problems but unfortunately cannot help with any mental conditions.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet)

Tatewaki Shoutarou has a life outside his high school, one that makes the drama and socialising of his peers seem far less important to him. He assists Sakurako Kujou, an unsociable and obsessive collector of bones and the niece of a prominent forensic scientist. But this eccentric isn’t just interested in bones, she is an expert in them. When she and Shotaro go out collecting, they seem to have a knack for finding human remains, and Sakurako’s keen eye and forensic knowledge can quickly tell what befell the previous owner of the latest set of bones she has become obsessed with.

This evening’s Episode: “Under Sakurako-san’s Feet…” Finale

Having had no contact with Sakurako for a while, Sh?tar? recalls how he first met Sakurako two years ago. While looking into the disappearance of one of his neighbors, Yachi, Sh?tar? became introduced to Sakurako’s love of bones. Meanwhile Sakurako prepares to hunt down the mysterious artist Hanabusa, the stealer of sphenoid bones.

Tonight’s Episode: “Iggy the Fool and Geb’s N’Doul, Part 2”

Upon realizing that N’Doul is using his sense of hearing to track the group with his Stand, named after the Egyptian god Geb, Abdul attempts to set up a trap, but N’Doul figures it out at the last second, avoiding an attack from Magician’s Red and injuring Abdul. Realizing Iggy can detect N’Doul’s Stand’s attack, Jotaro attempts to coerce Iggy’s aid as only Star Platinum can.
