Below is the program for September 20th, 2014.

International Talk Like a Pirate day will have passed and the Spring Equinox is upon us as our old enemy the sun makes a resurgance and attempts to sabotage JAFWA via the skylight. We shall ask Kris to bring out the Sun dis-activator from its winter hibernation and see if improvements are possible.

All this to distract our distraught members that 2 of our favourite series are ending this very night.

Gin no Saji, Season Two (Silver Spoon), Season Two

Life continues at Ooeno Agricultural School for city boy Hachiken. As the current crop of seniors prepare to move into the work force, more club responsibilities are passed on to the younger students. But in the midst of all the club activities, delicious food and good friends, Hachiken discovers that slaughtering animals might not be the only troubling aspect of farm life.

Tonight’s Episode:Over and Over Again

Hachiken has begun tutoring Mikage so she can get into university. A task that seemed hopeless until he hit upon the idea of using horses to get her interested in historical events. Of course horses can’t cover every topic, and so Hachiken is forced to turn to his older brother for help. And much to his dismay getting the study notes involves a trip back home …

Soul Eater Not!

DWMA (Death Weapon Meister Academy) is the place to go if you find that you are able the change into a weapon and need to master your new-found ability. Which is how Harudori Tsugumi finds herself in the United States, as part of the new class of students at the academy. Here she will learn to control her power and team up with one of the meisters (Students training to wield Death Weapons). However, she can’t quite make her mind up about which one to team up with.

The quiet life has turned out to be not quite so perfect. Gotou’s girlfiend, all this time, was imaginary. His dedication to the memory of a high school sweetheart who disappeared without a trace. And now, in the midst of his depression over not being able to do anything for his friend, Hazama has met yet another person he influenced as Samurai Flamenco. However this person seems to have taken a much more sinister inspiration from him, as Hazama’s apartment in the high rise behind them suddenly explodes.

Genshiken Nidaime (Genshiken Second Season)

The old guard have graduated and now only Ogiue, Ohno and Kuchiki remain. As a new year begins Genshiken is once again infused with new members, who bring with them their own quirks, tastes and personal baggage with which to befuddle, bemuse and entertain the rest of the club. The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture (Gendai Shikaku Bunka Kenkyukai, abbreviated as Gen Shi Ken) is back.

Tonight’s Episode:Shout ‘Moe!’ Beyond the Event Horizon

Hato did his best to interfere with Angela’s teasing of Madarame. Although for Angela it was more about helping him get over Kasukabe, even if her efforts were misguided. But as they talk about the fun they had at Comifest back in the club room, Ogiue notices that Hato seems depressed. Although he won’t say it out loud, his outburst about Madarame really is bothering him. Susanna advises Ogiue to show the rest of the club her own artwork involving Madarame to help Hato get over her embarrassment.

Witch Craft Works

Takamiya Honoka’s life used to be completely normal. That is until the day he was attacked by a Witch of the Tower and learned that Kagari Ayaka, the most popular girl in school, is secretly his personal bodyguard and a witch herself. Now Takamiya must contend with a growing procession of eccentric magic users out to either kidnap or kill him, all whilst trying to figure out why anyone is interested in him in the first place.

Kazane was forced to hand over Medusa (who promptly escaped from her Rothenberge guards) before getting a chance to interrogate her, meaning she still hasn’t learned of the broken seal on Evermillion. And now Kuraishi and her fellow tower witches are living openly in the Honoka household alongside Ayaka. For Ayaka it’s not the first time she has lived with other witches, the deposed student council members Kanae and Touko were her … carers … in middle school.

preview – Zankyou no Terror (Resonance of Terror)

Tokyo is under attack, from a pair of terrorists referring to themselves as ‘Sphinxes’. With a series of complicated riddles uploaded to the internet as the only warning of when and where each attack will take place the police scramble to protect the city. But there may be more to these terrorists than their appearance, or their dehumanizing names, suggest.

Tonight’s Episode:Falling

In the snowy region of Aomori, Japan. A police van approaches a remote nuclear fuel reprocessing facility, the face of it’s overly cheerful driver concealed by a gas mask. A grenade and high speed gets him through the gates. Threatening to shoot the canister in his hands gets doors opened for one of the workers inside and soon he and the van driver have escaped with their nuclear material.

… six months pass with nothing happening.

preview – M3: Sono Kuroki Hagane

The Lightless Realm is a parallel universe composed of crystal that has begun to merge with our world, killing anyone that comes in contact with it and reanimating their corpses as crystalline monstrosities known as Admonitions. Eight people with a mysterious childhood connection find themselves brought together in Kawadaraha city and recruited to carry out an expedition into the Lightless Realm itself in an attempt to stop its spread.

Tonight’s Episode:Starry Night

The Lightless Realm; a place of dark crystal, ruins, wreckage and corpses. Eight children wander lost amidst the remains of a park when a living bed of crystal begins to creep in around them. Before it can reach them it stops, seemingly at the command of a towering, red-eyed crystalline giant … Saginuma Akashi is on his way home one evening when he encounters a fleeing Admonition. The mech pursuing it is forced to stop to avoid crushing Akashi, but not before getting off a shot that chips away part of the creature’s outer-shell, inside which is a woman’s locket.

Sidonia no Kishi (Knights of Sidonia)

A thousand years after mankind fled Earth, Sidonia is a vast colony ship traversing deep space. The people within, genetically altered to contend with the harsh demands of space travel and Sidonia’s limited resources, live under a military dictatorship. Nagate Tanikaze however knows almost none of this, he has spent his life in the service tunnels of the ship, training in mecha combat simulators. When he is finally found by the rest of the Sidonia’s population, Tanikaze finds himself inducted into their military to help defend the colony ship against monstrous beings known as Gauna.

Tonight’s Episode:Gaze

The gauna’s tactic of mimicking Hoshijiro’s voice left Kunato almost useless in battle. Two of the three gauna were killed, and Tanikaze recovered the cloned Hoshijiro pilot from one, but the squad still took massive casualties. With a habitable planet within range the anti-war faction is now planning to leave the ship, and preparations are being made for the departure ceremony. Tanikaze, meanwhile, has been called to the EBD facility on Sidonia’s surface, where they are holding the Hoshijiro clone. The doctor there wants to perform a test …

Kill la Kill

Ryuko Matoi is a girl on a mission; to find the person responsible for her father’s death. Her search has led her to Honnouji Academy, a brutal, totalitarian school where the student council, led by Satsuki Kiryuin and empowered by their Ultima Uniforms, rule over everyone else. Ryuko quickly finds herself at odds with Satsuki’s dictatorship, but aid comes to Ryuko both from unexpected allies within the school … and a set of skimpy talking clothes.

Tonight’s Episode:Tell Me How You Feel

The combined efforts of Satsuki, Mako, Nudist Beach and the Four Devas finally manages to get through to Ryuuko, freeing her of Ragyou’s brainwashing. But she and Satsuki need to act fast. The Grand Couturier is still aboard their ship, and armed, and Ragyou has now sacrificed the last of her human followers to awaken the original Life Fibre and is riding aboard it to Honnouji Academy. There to beam her message to the REVOCS clothing around the world and bring about the destruction of the entire planet as part of the Life Fibre’s intergalactic life cycle.
