Screening on Saturday 16^th November 2019

Below is the program for the evening of Saturday November 16^th, 2019.

Due to circumstances and uncertainties, we haven’t been able to bring a full-length movie to the program this week, so we will instead show 3 preview items in its place. One of them is from a couple of years ago, that we just didn’t find the opportunity to screen then, but it still seems worthy.

On December 14^th we will have our end of year marathon screening, before we take a break until January, and your Suggestions are welcome as the program has not yet been finalised. The JAFWA committee has already scheduled room for “Akira”, and we have received a request for the movie “Millenium Actress”, as well as the “Girls und Panzer” movie, and something “Gundam”. Any other requests/suggestions?
Be aware, we also intend to run an auction on behalf of our members. Tell us what you want us to auction of yours, preferably well in advance, so we can schedule enough time into the program, as well as inform people so that they can bring plenty of money to bid. Already, a couple of expensive “Attack on Titan” figures have been proffered.

Fruits Basket (2019 remake)

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when touched by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

This evening’s Episode: “Yuki Was My First Love”

The third term begins, but despite Tohru wishing for them to get along, Kyo and Yuki are still at odds with each other. Later that night, Yuki catches a cold, but he insists on going to school for a long-distance run event. During the long-distance run, Tohru meets Sohma Hatsuharu, who interrupts the race between Kyo and Yuki by tripping up the former. Hatsuharu then challenges Kyo to a fight to make up for Kyo’s absence in New Year’s…

Preview item – Non Non Biyori

In the countryside small town village of Asahigaoka, a place lacking many of the conveniences that people from the city are accustomed to. The nearest stores are a few miles away and one of the local schools consists of only five students, each of whom is in a different grade of elementary or middle school. Hotaru Ichijo, a fifth grader from Tokyo, transfers into Asahigaoka Branch School and has to adjust to countryside life with her new friends.

This evening’s Episode: “A New Transfer Student Came”

In the countryside village of Asahigaoka, a fifth grade elementary school girl named Hotaru Ichijou moves in from the city and transfers into the village’s branch school, which consists of only four other students; a first grader named Renge Miyauchi and three middle school siblings, Natsumi, Komari and Suguru Koshigaya, along with their teacher, Renge’s older sister Kazuho. Can Hotarou fit in?

Kanata no Astra (Astra: Lost in Space)

In the year 2063, travelling through space has become commonplace. Eight students from Caird High School, along with one child, set out for a school camp on a nearby planet. However, the students are then mysteriously transported 5,000 light years away from home, with no way to call for help. Aboard an abandoned spaceship they call the Astra, these nine students slowly try to make their way back and figure out why they were transported in the first place.

This evening’s Episodes: “Revelation” and “Culprit”

Zack and Kanata reveal to the whole crew that Funicia and Qutterie are clones. Together the crew forms the theory that they’re all, except for Aries, are clones. Younger replacements for their parents, who will transfer their memories with technology developed by Zack’s father. Getting past this emotional bombshell will take some effort.
Meanwhile, the revived Paulina is having certain difficulties with the children’s stories. It seems that their History and Geography deviate from what Paulina recalls of Earth. And the original traitor that sent them on their 5000 light-year journey is still waiting to strike…

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

This evening’s Episode: “Cal Mira Archipelago”

The voyage to Cal Mira Archipelago for instense training and levelling up, is popular, with Naofumi’s party forced to share a ship’s cabin with the adventurers L’Arc Berg and Therese Alexandrite. There follows a intense XP grind, partying, exploration, all in reparation for the next Wave of Chaos.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Breaking the Cycle of Suffering”

Hyakkimaru approaches Daigo territory and Dororo is saddened his single-minded desire to recover his body parts. They are recognized by a villager who notifies Kagemitsu Daigo. Meanwhile, the situation worsens in Daigo territory: villages which have become diseased are burned and their inhabitants killed; able-bodied men are conscripted for the war against the threatening Asakura Clan. Tahoumaru decides to take Mutsu and Hyogo to stop Hyakkimaru himself.

preview item – No Guns Life

In the near future, many humans have become cyborgs called “Extended”. However, with a great war having recently ended, many Extended who are former soldiers begin to resort to crime to survive. Juzo Inui is a “Resolver”, an Extended mercenary who specializes in solving problems caused by other Extended. However, Juzo’s life is turned upside down when a renegade Extended breaks into office, pleading for him to protect a young boy named Tetsuro Arahabaki.

Tonight’s Episode: “Renegade Extended ”

Juzo Inui returns to his office to find a renegade Extended hiding within. He is on the run from the Security Bureau who accuses him of kidnapping a boy, Tetsuro Arahabaki, from the Berühren Corporation orphanage. The renegade asks Juzo for help to protect Tetsuro and Juzo reluctantly takes on the job.

The Northern Union attempts to attack a fortified stronghold held by the Southern Confederacy in the Patria civil war. Elaine, the human scientist who created the Incarnates, tells Captain Hank that a peace treaty is being signed, and the incarnates cannot go back to back to being human and must be killed before they go totally bestial. Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3 part 2

Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Other Side of the Wall ” finale

At the meeting of the Paradis government, Historia decides the people within the walls must be told the truth about the Titans which had been kept secret for 100 years and that the breaching of the wall by Titans was the beginning of a planned invasion by the state of Marley. Still, with Wall MAria now sealed, it is possible, with time and effort to expand again.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Requiem Quietly Plays, Part 2 ”

Members of the group attempt to retrieve the arrow but they discover that Chariot Requiem has the ability to turn their Stands against them. Bucciarati orders Mista to shoot his still-unconscious body, assuming it is possessed by Diavolo. However, shortly afterwards they experience time erasure, meaning Diavolo is still alive and using King Crimson nearby.
