Below is the program for the evening of Saturday September 15^th, 2018.

It has been a wild ride, but this week we finish that classic series, the original “Macross”. This series from 1982/83 is one of the original greats, making many a person an anime otaku. We salute you, oh great foundation of our fandom.
This week we also finish the chibi version of “Saga of Tanya the Evil”. We are still looking for a replacement 5 minute series. But it looks like we won’t be screening another retro series until next year. We invite you to return next week and see what will be in the “Macross” timeslot.

Meanwhile, we also have a couple of preview episodes for you to check out. Something that is suposed to be set in the same world as “Tiger and Bunny”, and a little something related to the origin of “Kamikaze”.

The audience voted, and last week we watched the second episode of “Cells at Work!”. And learned that while the Platelets are undeniably cute, they are all scab workers… 🙂
With everyone looking for “Lupin III”, he seems to have escaped view this week. But he is sure to go on the offensive before long.

It is an unfortunate fact, but this close to Winter the weather still tends to be rather inclement. A reminder to bring along warm clothing, and possibly an umbrella.

Japanese Calendars

JAFWA member Dale is ready to do his annual bulk ordering of calendars from Japan. The entire list has not yet been released, and there may yet be some release date changes. However, I should be able to order anything from this target=”_blank”>site if people would like. Like the DVD orders, Dale prefers about a 50% deposit up front. Don’t forget that the exchange rate sometimes changes between now and release date.

CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The long=awaited sequel. Sakura and Syaoran are starting junior high school. With the Final Judgment passed, Sakura thinks school life will be quiet, but then all her cards suddenly turn blank. The mysterious new power she discovers will change how she thinks about her powers.

This evening’s Episode: “Sakura’s Thrilling Aquarium Visit”

Sakura meets Syaoran for a date at the same aquarium where she captured the Watery card. Though to her embarrassment, her brother is also working. which may be fortunate when one of the tanks break, flooding the entire room.

Sora Yorimo Tooi Basho (aka A Place Further than the Universe)

Mari Tamaki is a second-year high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared three years ago. Joined by two other girls, Hinata Miyake and Yuzuki Shiraishi, they join an expedition headed towards the Antarctic.

This evening’s Episode: “Antarctic Love Story (Blizzard Arc)”

One of the crewmates, Toshio Zaizen, reveals that he has fallen in love with Gin, asking Shirase for any information about her. Feeling that it might spice up their report, the girls decide to interview Gin to see if they can learn anything about her love life.

Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work)

The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone… she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out. The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Influenza”

A naive T Cell is patrolling the body for influenza virus proliferation. But since he’s never taken on the enemy before, he’s completely terrified and useless. He finally ends up fleeing the battlefield, and is filled with self-loathing until Dendritic Cell sees him and speaks to him kindly.

Retro – Choujikuu Yousai Makurosu (Super Dimension Fortress Macross)

In 1999 a city-sized alien spacecraft crashes in South Ataria Island on Earth. Over the course of 10 years the military organization U.N. Spacy reverse-engineers its technology and rebuilds the spacecraft, naming it the SDF-1 Macross. In 2009 at the launch ceremony of the Macross, a space war fleet from the alien Zentraedi arrives in the solar system and identifies the Macross as a former battleship used by their enemies. Mistakes happen. Thus begins the war between Human and Zentraedi, led by the brave crew of the Macross.

Tonight’s Episode: “Farewell To Tenderness” Finale

Global informs Misa that the SDF-2, the successor to the Macross, is nearly ready to begin colonizing the galaxy. However Quazmin, Laplamiz, and their henchmen attack Macross City with missiles and waves of mecha, but all this fades as Hikaru, Misa and Minmay’s love triangle reaches its climax.

Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody)

Ichiro Suzuki is a programmer who was tasked with fixing several bugs in two MMORPGs his company is preparing for publication. While taking a nap, he somehow wakes up in another world as Satou Pendragon, with what looks like the menu screen of the game he was working on appearing before his inner eye. Due to cheat codes, his level jumps to 310 and he becomes extremely wealthy. Satou decides to hide his level, and plans to live peacefully and meet new people. However, the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou’s plans.

Tonight’s movie: “Exploring a City That Started With a Death March”

Suzuki, in the guise of Satoo the travelling merchant, has finally made contact with the locals, by saving Zena the army mage. Soon he is “invited” to travel to the local city, where he finds a rather unpleasant aspect to this fantasy world – slavery.

Sword Art Online side-story – Gun Gale Online

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s movie: “The Devil’s Comeback”

Helped out by SHINC’s Eva, who forces MMTM to retreat, Llenn explains the situation concerning Pitohui to her. With SHINC’s sacrificial aid, Llenn has the opportunity to make a beeline towards Pitohui, only for another team’s sniper to hit her first, bringing her down to a sliver of health.

In the city-state Risvaletta, while people go about their tranquil everyday lives, crimes and illegal drugs run rampant. Above all, a dangerous, highly-fatal drug named “Anthem” is casting a dark shadow on the streets. The “Seven-O” special criminal investigation unit whose speciality is to supervise the investigation of Anthem, institutes a “Double Decker System” policy of forming groups of two investigators, and all members are given nicknames. One such team consists of the aloof veteran investigator Doug Billingham accompanied by the over-eager rookie Kirill Vrubel.

This evening’s Episode: “Howl at the Two Suns”

An almost invulnerable mutated “Anthem” user runs amok on the city and the police are unable to subdue him. Doug Billingham takes over and prepares a cocktail of drugs in a special bullet but the shot is deflected leaving him vulnerable to the “Anthem” user. Kirill Vrubel as shown as an ambitious police officer who is blackmailed on his day off into finding his landlady’s cat. He stumbles onto a hostage situation in an abandoned factory building.

preview item – Angolmois – Genkou Kassenki (Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion)

The term Angolmois comes from the prophecies of Nostradamus about the reign of the great king of Angolmois, which is interpreted as being an anagram of the Old French word Mongolais ‘Mongolians’ and thus referring to Genghis Khan. The story follows a group of samurai released from prison and exiled to Tsushima Island who help to form Japan’s first line of defense against the first Mongol invasion in 1274. They first join the Sou Clan who then join with the Toi Barai Clan to fight the invading forces consisting mainly of Mongolian and Goryeo forces, but also including Jurchen people.

This evening’s Episode: “The Far End of Japan”

A group of exiles are being taken by boat to Tsushima Island when they are caught in a savage storm. They plead for their bonds to be removed, but then take over the boat and commence fighting among themselves. Kuchii Jinzaburou, saves Chou Minpuku, a fellow exile, and then fights to defend himself from other prisoners. He frees the pirate Onitakemaru who raises the mast and helps sail the boat towards Tsushima Island. On arrival, the boatload of exiles and crew are warmly welcomed by Princess Teruhi, but then find they are asked to defend the island against the Mukuri (Mongols).

Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project)

Himekawa Koyuki plays a popular social game known as the Magical Girl Raising Project, that secretly has the ability to grant players a 1-in-10,000 chance of becoming a real-life magical girl. Each of the magical girls possess unique abilities and earn Magical Candies by protecting people and performing good deeds. However, shortly after Himekawa Koyuki becomes the magical girl Snow White, the administration has decided that sixteen magical girls in a certain city is too many, and the number needs to be reduced…

Tonight’s Episode: “Sudden Battle Chances Up!”

Just as it seems they are finally getting along with each other, Snow White vent her frustrations at Alice following Fav’s latest update on the new deaths and rule changes. But Swim-Swim and her crew know Alice’s civilian identity…

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “Highway Star, Part 1”

Becoming suspicious of Josuke’s winning streak with the alien die, Rohan stabs his own finger, staking 2 million yen against Josuke’s own finger to determine how he is cheating while also calling upon Kobayashi as an official to prevent Josuke from playing normally. Meanwhile, Hayato, who has been using hidden cameras to spy on his parents, becomes suspcious of the man posing as his father.
