Below is the program for the evening of Saturday November 18^th, 2017.

The end of 2017 is rapidly approaching, as are several of our regular series. Tonight will see the final episode of “ID-0” and “KonoSuba”. Did you enjoy these series?
This will mean that when JAFWA returns in 2018 we will need some new regular series. In order to tie in with the End of Year Marathon where we hope to show the OAV episodes, for those of you not already familiar with the manga, we will show the first episode of “The Ancient Magus Bride” TV series.
As another possible candidate, we provide the somewhat gruesome “Ousama Game” (“King’s Game”), that amongst other things shows how extreme stress can be terrible on Japanese High-schoolers.

We are still tweaking the JAFWA End of Year marathon screening program for 2017. A warning, there will be a quiz. Stay tuned!

Synopsis

Little Witch Academia TV

Akko Kagari enrolls into Luna Nova Academy, a school for young witches, after being inspired at a young age by a witch named Shiny Chariot, and often spends her days hanging with her classmates, Lotte and Sucy. However, she has trouble paying attention in class, doesn’t know how to ride her broom, and is often looked down upon for admiring Chariot, whom many believe gives the wrong impression about witches.

This evening’s Episode: “Discipline / Wagandea”

Looking into the meaning behind the Shiny Rod’s sixth word, Lyonne, Akko hears from Croix about how Chariot climbed the legendary Wagandea tree to learn it. However, Ursula urges against Akko doing the same as the tree is due to release a dangerous pollen that causes witches to lose their magic and flight abilities.

Made in Abyss

An orphan girl named Riko who lives in the town of ?su on an island in the sea of Beoluska. The city surrounds a strange, giant hole going deep into the earth, which is commonly called the Abyss. The Abyss harbors artefacts and remnants of a civilisation long gone, and is therefore the popular hunting spot for so-called Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and dangerous descends into the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find. However, the deeper one goes into the Abyss, the more one is afflicted by a progressively fatal malady called the Curse of the Abyss; few who have descended into the lower regions have returned to tell of their experiences.

This evening’s Episode: “The Edge of the Abyss”

Determined to find her mother, Riko along with Reg manage to descend deep down into the first layer of the Abyss. Reg then remembers that the orphanage Leader slipped a letter into his backpack and reads it. The letter contains a copy of vital information about the Abyss, as well as a note from Jirou warning the two that he will pursue them at dawn. Can the two of them reach the 2nd level in time?

Isekai Shokudou (Restaurant to Another World)

The Western Restaurant Nekoya is a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which, despite its name, offers a lot of Japanese dishes in addition to Western ones. It opens during usual business hours and closed during holidays and weekends. But secretly it is open on Saturdays, as on this particular day it creates doorways to another world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake on its menu, with all of them becoming regular patrons.

This evening’s Episode: “Sandwiches / Steamed Potato With Butter”

Noticing that Aletta is not too fond of potatoes, as she only really eats them to survive during the week, the owner offers to teach her a good way of eating them. Meanwhile, Sarah and Heinrich get into an argument about which of their favorite dishes tastes better as a sandwich, which the other customers soon get involved in and escalates into each one of them getting a sandwich of their contradictor’s favorite dish.

retro series from 1982 – Ch?jik? Y?sai Makurosu (Super Dimension Fortress Macross)

In 1999 a city-sized alien spacecraft crashes in South Ataria Island on Earth. Over the course of 10 years the military organization U.N. Spacy reverse-engineers its technology and rebuilds the spacecraft, naming it the SDF-1 Macross. In 2009 at the launch ceremony of the Macross, a space war fleet from the alien Zentraedi arrives in the solar system and identifies the Macross as a former battleship used by their enemies. Mistakes happen. Thus begins the war between Human and Zentraedi, led by the brave crew of the Macross.

This evening’s Episode: “Longest Birthday”

As Minmay celebrates her birthday, Hikaru begins to wonder about his relationship with Minmay and emerging feelings for Misa. Then Hikaru is promoted and has wingmen under his command.

Chise Hatori, 15 years old. Lost, without hope, and without family, she is bought for money … not by another person, but by a non-human sorcerer named Elias Ainsworth. Though she hesitates, she begins life anew as his apprentice and future wife.

This evening’s Episode: “April showers bring May flowers”

Hatori Chise is a lonely teenager who has no family and is shunned by society so she sells herself into slavery. During the auction numerous mages bid large sums of money for her, only for the auction to be interrupted by a strange mage named Elias Ainsworth who immediately outbids every other buyer by bidding 5 Million Pounds.

Lupin III – part IV

The internationally infamous Arsène Lupin, master thief and unrepentant womanizer, continues to seek out ever more challenging heists to pull off. With him goes an eccentric band of misfits; Jigen the scruffy sharpshooter, Fujiko the femme fatal of dubious loyalty, and Goemon the stoic swordsman. And close on their heels no matter where Lupin and his gang end up, the unrelenting Inspector Zenigata. Determined to put Lupin and his cohorts in prison for the seemingly endless list burglaries and thefts they have already pulled off.

This evening’s Episode: “The Dream of Italy (Part One)”

Rebecca is kidnapped by the MI6, and Robson calls for Lupin’s help. Lupin finds out that the MI6 is looking for the researches of Rebecca’s lost love, Wataru, a young Japanese scientist who died sometime ago.

In the distant future, the discovery of the new mineral Orichalt has allowed humanity to expand beyond the Sol System. On the constant lookout for Orichalt, humanity has developed I-Machines, robots that operate in extreme environments. I-Machines function by transferring a human pilot’s consciousness into the robot’s operating system. While Alliance Academy student Maya Mikuri is in the middle of operating an I-Machine, she gets involved in an incident with pirates, and ends up serving as a crew member on an excavation company’s spaceship.

Tonight’s Episode: “Still Here” (finale)

Addams plan to destroy the Rajeev is failing, when it is revealed that Alice’s body holds the consciousness of her mother Jennifer, who Addams helped Mind Trance into the Orichalt to look for Alice.

preview item – Ou-sama Game (King’s Game)

An entire high school class of 32 people receive a message on their cellphones from a person known only as the “King.” The messages contain orders that the students must obey, or they risk the punishment of death. With their lives on the line, the students soon find out that the orders are getting more and more extreme as time goes on. But one student, Nobuaki Kanazawa, is determined to put a stop the murderous King’s Game, once and for all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Begin Again (Break Again) ”

High-school student Kanazawa Nobuaki transfers into a new school and tries to distance himself from his new classmates. At midnight Nobuaki receives a text from someone called the King outlining the rules of The Kings Game. Every student must participate and follow the instructions or face death. Nobuaki is ordered to kiss Honda Natsuko. Every student in class, who all received the text, think Nobuaki is joking.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (God’s Blessing on this Beautiful World)

Kazuma Satou wasn’t looking for anything beyond his simple high school shut-in existence. But one untimely death later and he finds himself before the goddess Aqua with the chance to be deposited in a fantasy kingdom that is in need of heroes to defeat a demon lord. Things don’t look good from the moment he arrives and so Kazuma decides to ditch the whole “save the world” thing and just try to become rich and live comfortably. Unfortunately, the various eccentric companions he is saddled with aren’t really helping with that goal.

This evening’s Episode: “A Final Flame for this Over-the-top Fortress!” (finale)

With their members being perfectly suited for the job, Kazuma’s party, along with Wiz the Lich, are chosen to lead an attack against the Destroyer. Meanwhile, Darkness tells Kazuma that her true name is Dustiness Ford Lalatina, the daughter of a well-regarded family.

Re: Creators

S?ta Mizushino is a young high school student and anime fan who dreams of writing his own light novel. While looking to an anime for inspiration, the iPad he is watching it on sputters and drags him into the anime’s world, where he witness a battle between the anime’s character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform. After returning with Selesia, S?ta discovers that other characters from different stories and forms of media were also brought to the real world, with some of them aligned with the military uniform girl, who promised them the ways to end the strife in their worlds and a way back home, unaware of her true intentions.

Tonight’s Episode: “All of Us Are Incomplete As long as we’re alive, we have to enjoy our lives to the fullest.”

Creator Shunma gives Blitz the option to return to his world with Erina if he betrays Altair. Back with S?ta, Magane reveals that she knows that he attempts to make his own creation to help stop Altair. Y?ya is battling Sh?, and we get to see how Hikayu has been powered up.
