Screening
Below is the program for September 15th, 2016.
We are still using an alternate computer in place of our beloved Chibi. But never fear, soon the new and improved Shin Chibi II shall arise.
The end of the year is rapidly approaching, and thus to prepare for the new program in 2017 (well, one or two items from the regular program will still be screening, such as the new regular series we are starting tonight), we have a couple of preview items tonight that may prove appealing to the JAFWA attendees. These previews will be from genres that have been under-represented at JAFWA in the last couple of years.

Synopsis
Akagami no Shirayukihime – (Shirayuki (“Snow white”) princess of the red hair)
Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.
Tonight’s Episodes: “Shining Time of Promise”
Due to her closeness with Prince Zen, Shirayuki is now a regular visitor to his castle with no restrictions. However, there are those who doubt her intentions and conspire to separate her from the prince. A lowly peasant has no right to be conspiring to influence royalty.
Ore Monogatari! (My Love Story!)
Takeo Gouda is tall. No, Takeo Gouda is huge. He’s a high-schooler in a giant’s body. That’s been great for all the school sporting clubs he was part of, but less useful in his attempts to find love. But the real problem there is his handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who ends up getting confessions from everyone Takeo likes. In fact it happens so often Takeo now expects it. And then one day, quite by accident, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato …
Tonight’s Episodes: “My Blue Ogre”
Takeo is still convinced that Rinko is in love with his friend Sunakawa, and because he loves Rinko Takeo will do everything to see that she is happy with Suna. Only things don’t go to plan. Takeo will find some unbelievable truths when he confronts his childhood friend.
Preview item – Giant Killing
East Tokyo United has been struggling to remain in Japan’s top football league for quite some time. Even their fans are starting to abandon the team. To try and turn things around, ETU have hired a new coach; Takeshi Tatsumi. Tatsumi was once a promising young player himself, but ended up as a manager for a lower division team in England instead. Turning ETU’s fortunes around won’t be easy, however Tatsumi specializes in “Giant Killing”.
Tonight’s Episodes: “#01”
Takeshi Tatsumi, former player for the East Tokyo United (ETU), led a fifth division team in England to 32nd place in the FA Cup. Now ETU has recruited him to come back and coach them, to mixed reactions from the fans. Tatsumi makes a controversial move on the first day of training.
Preview item – Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
300 years after the “Calamity War”, the people of the Red Plant desire independence from Earth. Kudelia Aina Bernstein of the Chryse Autonomous Region, is targeted by the Gjallarhorn organisation to stamp out the fledgling independence movement. It falls to the expendable child soldiers of Chryse Guard Security to protect Kudelia. But the unit’s leader, Orga Itsuka, and his long-time friend Mikazuki Augus, have grander goals than being martyrs to Martian Independence.
Tonight’s Episodes: “Iron and Blood …”
In the midst of ongoing protests by citizens of the Martian colony Chryse demanding independence from the Earth government, the Chryse Guard Security is assigned to protect Princess Kudelia Aina Bernstein on her diplomatic mission. Though Aina’s support of the independence movement will bring the CGS headquarters under attack.
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom) 2
Dual and Dorothy are two programs who reside within the Box of Wisdom. Their job is to enter the various worlds containing the memories of people across many timelines, deleting worlds that become infected with viruses. One day they come across Remo, a girl with amnesia who is searching for something known as the flower.
Tonight’s Episodes: “Graduation Time”
With Koro-sensei left weak from his battle against Yanasigawa and the Reaper, the students reluctantly but unanimously decide to kill him themselves in this penultimate episode. It is time for graduation.
Hai to Gensou no Grimgar (Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash)
Haruhiro awoke in this strange land with no memory of where he had come from or how he had got here. He and his companions were given little choice; serve in the militia defending the region from the various monsters or starve, and so they struggle to make a living as soldiers. There is nothing easy about this life and making ends meet is a challenge for six people who, it seems, had never held weapons before. Teamwork may be the only thing that can keep them alive, but for that they actually need to function as a team.
Tonight’s Episodes: “I’m Not Fit to Be a Leader”
Haruhiro and the party reach Siren Mines, easily defeating the kobolds on the upper levels. With inter-party communications and tactics less than optimal, Haruhiro has doubts about his ability to act as their leader.
Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: The Self Defence Forces Fight Like This in That Place)
Youji Itami is a 33-year old otaku. He loves anime and does his best to never miss a convention or product sale. Youji is also a member of Japan’s Self Defense Force. After an invasion of Tokyo from an alternate universe, Youji’s unit is sent through the gateway to this alternate dimension to push back the invaders, taking him away from his beloved anime and manga. But maybe this won’t be all bad … because this parallel universe is straight out of a fantasy manga.
Tonight’s Episode: “Decisive Battle”
The fire dragon has been temporarily frightened away by a near miss by a rocket launcher. Itami and company join forces with 9 Dark Elf warriors to ambush the dragon at its lair. But it is a truism that no battle-plan survives contact with the enemy.
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero)
Being teleported to a fantasy world means you’re the chosen one, right? Natsuki Subaru certainly thought so, but it seems he’s not the fated hero, he’s just another guy in a world full of wizards, warriors and demi-humans. Still, there are decent people in this world and Subaru quickly finds people willing to lend him a hand, people he wants to help in return. But how can a mere high school student hope to challenge the monstrous and magical forces of this world? After all he only gets one shot at this, right?
Tonight’s Episodes: “Starting Life from Zero in Another World”
Shortly after “Satella” arrives, Elsa appears and begins attacking. Puck gains the upper hand with his ice magic, but the spirit must depart as night falls. Subaru tries to save at least Felt by ordering her to flee the house, as Rom is severely wounded, and “Satella” is getting exhausted while fighting Elsa. Will Subaru be forced to do another reset by death, or will the arrival of the knight Reinhard be able to tilt the battle in their favour?
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet)
Tatewaki Shoutarou has a life outside his high school, one that makes the drama and socialising of his peers seem far less important to him. He assists Sakurako Kujou, an unsociable and obsessive collector of bones and the niece of a prominent forensic scientist. But this eccentric isn’t just interested in bones, she is an expert in them. When she and Shotaro go out collecting, they seem to have a knack for finding human remains, and Sakurako’s keen eye and forensic knowledge can quickly tell what befell the previous owner of the latest set of bones she has become obsessed with.
Tonight’s Episodes: “The Princess Who Loves Bones”
Most Japanese students go to school, never needing to encounter death. But Shoutarou associates with someone a little different. For instance, when Sakurako takes Shotarou to the beach, with the promise of a great dinner in exchange for digging up some great bones. A discovery leads them to investigate an apparent double suicide.
Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)
It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.
… An ancient enemy of the family has returned.
Tonight’s Episodes: “Wheel of Fortune”
On their way driving to Pakistan, the group finds Anne hitchhiking at the side of the road and they reluctantly take her along with them. Upon continuing their journey, a red car gets in their way, beginning an escalating series of driving incidents. Is this a case of ordinary road rage, or is another Stand User targetting them involved somehow?
