Screening on the evening of Saturday, February 17^th 2024

The temperature and anime are scorching this month.

This Monday at 6:30PM is the Luna Double Feature at Luna Cinemas Leederville featuring “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Princess Mononoke” for $15 for those of you needing an anime fix.

And later this month, starting from Thursday February 22^nd 2024 various cinemas will be screening the introduction to the next season of “Demon Slayer” anime – “DEMON SLAYER – KIMETSU NO YAIBA – T0 THE HASHIRA TRAINING”.

This week our program will include two preview episodes, one is a slice of life at work dealing with an unpredictable boss, the other involves a pair of orphans gaming the system.

We are looking at a new scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes). You may have to help us source this material.

Dr Stone season 3 “New World”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. With the Stone Wars over, the former members of Tsukasa’s Empire of Might join forces with the Kingdom of Science to build a ship capable of sailing across open ocean to seek answers on the mystery of the global petrification. However, before they can begin their voyage Senku and his friends need to find some key resources and push some new scientific advancements to build the type of vessel they need.

This evening’s Episode: “First Dream“

Senku revives Chrome for help making revival fluid for everyone. Chrome worries about Ruri whose call to Senku ended when the phone battery died, and since Ibara smashed all the equipment on the Perseus they can’t call her back. Kohaku and Ginro, whose fatal stab wounds are completely healed by the revival process. Once Senku repairs the telephone but Why-Man interrupts his call to Ruri and attempts to voice command Medusa to activate.

Spy x Family – part 2b

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This Evening’s Episode: “The Symphony Upon the Ship / Sis’s Herb Tea“

Yor tries to take the Gretchers to the rendezvous point via the top deck during the fireworks show, but is ambushed by the assassins there. With Matthew’s help, Yor slaughters them until a powerful assassin downs the Manager.

Meanwhile Yuri catches a cold while on a mission. While resting at home, he recalls to his childhood days when Yor took care of him when he was sick.

preview item – My New Boss is Goofy (Atarashii Joushi wa Dotennen)

26-year-old office worker Kentarou Momose recently changed jobs after his previous boss harassed him. He’s worried his new boss will also use power harassment to make his life miserable. Momose is trying to hide his anxious stomach when he first meets his new boss Yuusei Shirosaki, however he’s surprised to find his new boss is such a natural airhead that he eliminates all of Momose’s anxiety.

This Evening’s Episode: “It’s a Little Cracked!!“

Suffering mental stress and an ulcer from an abusive boss, Momose-san changes jobs, but will the new one be any better? But it turns out that his new boss Shirosaki is pretty much the opposite of abusive, it is almost therapeutic. But does Momose know how to deal with a lack of stress and a goofy boss? Can Momose shine?

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto)

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favorite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Covert Operations“

As Maomao and Guen (the court doctor) enjoy some grilled matsutake mushrooms, someone comes into the clinic asking for a cure to a “curse.” Maomao gives the patient some ointment to heal the rashes on the patient’s arms. Jinshi calls her to ask her opinion on a few substances, as he is also on the hunt for what caused the “curse.” The day of the garden party is fast approaching.

Ancient Magus Bride season 2 (Mahou Tsukai no Yome)

Chise Hatori, 15 years old. Lost, without hope, and without family, she is bought for money … not by another person, but by a non-human sorcerer named Elias. Though she hesitates, she begins life anew as his apprentice and future wife. Now grown more confident in her role as a sleigh beggy, Chise was able to accept Elias and herself, if not necessarily everything about her situation. After Cartaphilus fell back into a slumber that would not last forever, Chise was able to go back to her regular life. Then she receives an invitation from a mutual aid organization for mages called the College.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Strongest Weakest MaMan’s extremity is God’s opportunity.”

Liza realises the Grimoire must contain a god and reluctantly unseals the college. Gregory transforms into a bear to attack the transformed Philomena but the female werewolf appears through Chise’s shortcut and escapes with Philomena. Chise and friends gives chase.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Kidou Senshi Gandamu: Suisei no Majo)

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Tonight’s Episode: “Precious Things“

Miorine accepts Prospera’s demand in return for her freeing Suletta, although the latter warns that her daughter will not part with the Aerial willingly. Meanwhile, Shaddiq allies with Peil Technologies, offering them the rights to Gund-Arm Inc. in return for their support in the election.

The boy’s name was Hitori. A stork brought the angel into the lives of a middle-aged couple who were not blessed with children. His parents were kind, his house spacious, and his meals hot. But to protect the happiness he had received, Hitori continued to hide an important secret from his parents.

Tonight’s Episode: “Migi and Dali“

In December 1989, a blonde boy, Hitori is adopted by an elderly, childless couple, Youko and Osamu Sonoyama. Unbeknownst to them, Hitori is being portrayed by identical twin brothers Migi and Dali. Because the couple can only adopt one child, they use their identical appearances to pretend to be one person while covertly switching places without the couple noticing.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were not always enemies. Long before they had what was supposed to be their final encounter during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, the pair were fellow students, rivals, and friends. In another world, they would have been the twin shining stars of Jujutsu Sorcery, but one fateful event destroyed any hope of that ever happening. Turn back the clock to witness the mission that drove them to curse one another beyond even death.

Tonight’s Episode: “Fluctuations, part 2.“

Megumi and friends failed to exit the Domain when Toji entered, he takes Maki’s cursed tool and immediately begins targeting the strongest opponent in the area, Dagon. Everyone is stunned as Toji completely overwhelms Dagon with his immense speed and strength, brushing off all of his attacks and eventually killing him, ending the Domain. Without any time to react, Megumi is unexpectedly launched out the building to confront Toji himself. Jogo suddenly appears to mourn Dagon’s death. Meanwhile Yuji is being fed fingers.

Undead Unluck

Fuuko Izumo is known as a woman cursed with “Unluck.” Fuuko brings misfortune to anyone who touches her and the scale is proportional to how long they had physical contact. She’s saved by Andy, a man who cannot die (“Undead”). He hopes to figure out a way to use Fuuko’s misfortune to finally bring him death. The unlikely pair team up to complete missions given to them by the Book of Revelations, but if they or any of the other negators in their union fail, the book can punish humanity.

Tonight’s Episode: “United We Negate“

Saddened over Gina’s death, Fuuko and Andy go to a bar. There, a monster grabs the two and brings them to the Roundtable. After the leader calms everyone down, a strange book descends and reveals a series of quests. They are also warned that failure to complete all the quests will result in the creation of UMA Galaxy.

Goblin Slayer season 2

In a world of fantasy, adventurers come far and wide to join the Guild, in order to complete contracts for whatever jobs are available. An inexperienced priestess joins her first adventuring party, but comes into danger after her first adventurer contract involving goblins goes wrong. After the rest of her party is wiped out, she is saved by a man known as Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins with extreme prejudice. And when rumours of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next.

Tonight’s Episode: “Beard-cutter, to the Southern River” season 2

High Elf Archer is invited to bring her friends to the wedding of her older sister, so she invites her party and Guild Girl. Goblin Slayer is reluctant as the other adventurers would have to take over his goblin killing, but he settles for destroying several goblin nests before they leave.
