Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, November 25^th 2023

This is it! The end of November and the last regular JAFWA screening for 2023!
After this will be the irregular screening of December, the Summer Holiday Break (including minor things like Christmas), and JAFWA’s glorious return in January 2024.

This week, along with our regular program we will screen another preview episode, to broaden our knowledge of anime released in Japan. It will involve the Swords and Sorcery genre, where after their defeat the demon nations seek to select a new Demon King to lead them to victory over the hated humans. At the end of the night, we ran out of regular items, so we will try one of the “Golden Kamuy” OAVs, which features some of the manga that was unable to be converted for a TV episode, even in the normal after midnight timeslot.
During the Dinner Break we will be having our Monthly Survey, where our dear JAFWAites can express their opinion on the various programs previewed and other suggested possibilities, utilising a scalar grading system.
And later, we have the monthly Member’s Prize Draw, with so much good stuff to choose from for the Winner.

We are in the process of writing up the final, irregular screening of 2023 in December. It might still be possible to influence our Lord Shogun Drew’s decsions on what goes into the final program.

Barring a resurgence of COVID-19 pestilence, these fannish events of interest are scheduled to happen:

• Saturday November 25^th 2023 — from 1PM, JAFWA having an Event Arvo in the Hall of “make your own fun” before the regular screening.
• Saturday December 9^th 2023 — JAFWA’s final screening for 2023 before we take a holiday. This will be a normal length screening with an irregular program. We request that you, the audience, suggest anime items for inclusion in that night’s program.
• Saturday December 16^th 2023 — JAFWA doing a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle down at Cannington.
• Saturday January 13^th 2024 — JAFWA’s screening resume in 2024.

Dr Stone season 3 “New World”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. With the Stone Wars over, the former members of Tsukasa’s Empire of Might join forces with the Kingdom of Science to build a ship capable of sailing across open ocean to seek answers on the mystery of the global petrification. However, before they can begin their voyage Senku and his friends need to find some key resources and push some new scientific advancements to build the type of vessel they need.

This evening’s Episode: “Battle in Three Dimensions ”

Moz’ attack terrifies the soldiers as planned. Knowing Moz will likely betray them, Senku crafts a weapon to neutralize Moz’ superior strength, a rudimentary gunpowder pistol. For safety, Senku gives the gun to Yo as a former police officer, but when he turns out to be a bad shot, so needs to practise. As it will become a tug-of-war to capture Medusa, Senku revives Magma and Nikki and crafts tough carbon fibre rope from tar. Hearing what happened to Ginro, Kinro insists on defeating Moz personally with his new golden spear.

Spy x Family part 2b

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “Mission and Family / The Elegant Bondman / The Heart of a Child/Waking Up ”

When the SSS suspect a former reporter named Franklin Perkin is sending anti-Ostania articles to Westalis, Yuri is assigned to observe him and gather evidence.
Anya watches an episode of Spy Wars where the main character Bondman gathers a harem of beautiful girls.
Loid has a hard time understanding Anya after he and Yor take her out for fun.

preview – Helck

After the demon lord is slain at the hands of a lone human warrior, humans rejoice over the end of his reign of terror. Over at the Demon Realm, an intense tournament is held to determine the next demon lord, and it has drawn in the unlikeliest of contestants—Helck, a man who claims to hate humans but is one himself. Doubtful of Helck’s intentions, Red Vamirio—one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” who oversees the realm—seeks to uncover what Helck is truly after.

This evening’s Episode: “Helck the Hero“

In the fierce tryouts for selecting the next demon king, after the preliminary rounds it turns out the favourite to win is a human hero. This does not go down well with elite lord Vermilio the Red who has come to supervise the latter half of the competition. Her fiery temper can’t stand the human enemy, and she will go to any dirty trick to invalidate Helck. But the real enemy is attacking elsewhere.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Kid? Senshi Gandamu: Suisei no Majo)

An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Circling Thoughts ” and “The Witches from Earth ”

Two months after forming Gund-Arm, Miorine has been promoting the company while Suletta and Earth House developed a set of prosthetic legs. Miorine to grows distanced from Suletta, causing the latter to question if they were ever truly friends. At the same time, Peil Technologies introduces a new body double of Elan, Elan-05, to seduce Suletta into giving out the Aerial’s secrets. Elsewhere, tired of Delling’s tyrannical leadership, Vim and Sarius plan to assassinate him during an upcoming meeting with Prospera at Plant Quetta. The Earth-based mercenary group Dawn of Fold. Guel runs away from home, but the ship is hijacked by Dawn of Fold. Earth House arrives at Plant Quetta to pick up the newly-rebuild Aerial.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were not always enemies. Long before they had what was supposed to be their final encounter during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, the pair were fellow students, rivals, and friends. In another world, they would have been the twin shining stars of Jujutsu Sorcery, but one fateful event destroyed any hope of that ever happening. Turn back the clock to witness the mission that drove them to curse one another beyond even death.

Tonight’s Episodes “Pandemonium” and “Seance“

As he is about to be sealed away, Gojo addresses the real Geto, causing Geto’s hand to start choking out his body, which surprises and amuses the imposter “Pseudo-Geto”. The Prison Realm is then closed, trapping Gojo. Elsewhere, backup Mechamaru reveals to Yuji and Mei Mei what just happened. Yuji gets out of the subway and yells out from the top of the buildings to Kento Nanami about Gojo’s sealing, which is heard by the other teams. Meanwhile, the Prison Realm suddenly drops onto the ground due to Gojo’s interference within, forcing them to have to wait until it stabilizes. Eventually Yuji, Megumi, and Ino investigate the barrier preventing sorcerers from entering, and track down the three curse users generating it, and attempt to defeat them.

In/Spectre season 2 (Kyokou Suiri)

When she was still just a girl, Kotoko was kidnapped by yokai. These spirits made her into a powerful intermediary between the spirit and human worlds, but this power came at a price: an eye and a leg. Now, years later, she watches out for dangerous yokai while developing feelings for a young man named Kuro, who is also special: an incident with a yokai has given him healing powers. He’s surprised when Kotoko asks him to team up to handle renegade yokai, preserving the thin line between reality and the supernatural.

Tonight’s Episodes: “A Lucky Day at the Unagi Restaurant“

Two businessmen visit an expensive eel restaraunt, and wonder why a young girl is eating extra-special unaju all alone. mysteries should not exist, but Kajio has been suffering since his wife Yukie was killedThe philosophy of eating <em>unagi</em> (eel). But the discussion turns to who killed Yukie-san. However the unaju eating girl is Iwanga Kotoko.

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Goddess’s Trial”

Cid visits a hot spring and happens to meet Alexia in one of the baths. Hiding her embarrassment, Alexia explains the nature of the Goddess Trial: challengers will summon and duel the spirits of famous warriors, with the strength of the challenger directly related to the strength of the summoned spirit. Since she is busy dealing with the Archbishop’s murder, Alexia asks Cid to assist her by joining the Crimson Knights. To avoid exposing his strength or embarrassing himself by faking a humiliating defeat, Cid crashes the Trial as the Eminence in Shadow, his presence summoning Aurora, the Calamity Witch.

Golden Kamuy OAV

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Barato Bodyguards / Attack of the Mysterious Winged Terror!”

Set concurrently with the events of episode 12 (after the explosion at the Murder Hotel). The Hidoro gang, which previously controlled the town of Barato, have been wracked by infighting after being split by the ambitious Umakichi. After Hijikata and Ogata separately learn the gang has a tattooed skin, Hijikata joins the Hidoro gang, while Ogata joins the Umakichi gang.
