JAFWA enters the month of March with two new regular series starting this Saturday, and a movie as well! Yes, a movie – you don’t just have to go to the cinemas (Event Cinemas or Hoyts – check if it is subbed or dubbed) to see movie-length anime, JAFWA is your friend with subbed anime.

So this week open your heart to “Do It Yourself!!” and “Bocchi the Rock“, selected from the highest rated choices our dear JAFWAites voted upon.

The next fundraising for JAFWA at Cannington Bunnings sausage sizzle is scheduled for Saturday May 6^th, and we would like a volunteer or 3 to help out.

Do It Yourself (Yofukashi no Uta)

Serufu Yua (pronounced “yourself”) is a laid back first year high-school student, very accident-prone and is known for having a perfect attendance record at the nurse’s office. She fails to get into Yuyu Girls’ Vocational High School for technology with her best friend Miku Suride, instead getting into the lower class Gatagata Girls’ High School. But there is a student club that may catch her attention.

This evening’s Episodes: “What is ‘DIY’?”

Serufu Yua begins attending Gatagata Girls’ High School after failing to get into the elite Yuuyuu Girls’ Vocational High School with her childhood friend Miku “Purin” Suride. On her way to school, Serufu crashes her bicycle but is aided by third year student Rei “Kurei” Yasuku. Wanting to give Rei her thanks, Serufu comes to a hut around the back of school which is revealed to be the DIY Club that Rei is the head of.

Bocchi the Rock

Extremely anxious and socially awkward Hitori Gotou longs to become a rock musician in spite of her struggles, whilst fulfilling her desires to one day make friends. She is even given a chance to do so after she is taken in by Nijika Ijichi to become a member of the newly formed Kessoku Band.

This evening’s Episode: “Lonely Rolling Bocchi”

Hitori Goou is an extremely introverted girl who has trouble making friends or working in groups at school. She decides to start playing guitar, thinking it will make her more friends. Unfortunately social anxiety keeps her from making friends, but she finds some modest success playing covers of popular songs and posting them online under the alias “guitarhero”. After struggling to be sociable during her first year of high-school, a girl named Nijika Ijichi begs her to replace a guitarist who left the group before the band plays their show.

Spy x Family part 2

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “The Underground Tennis Tournament: The Campbelldon”

Loid and Fiona disguise as a married couple and participate in an underground tennis tournament hosted by Cavi Campbell in order to win a painting that contains the location of a dossier, whose contents if revealed might reignite the war. Fiona wants to use this chance to show Loid how capable she is, in order to replace Yor’s role in Operation Strix.

movie – Isekai Quartet

One day, a magic button suddenly appears. The protagonists in KonoSuba, Overlord, Re:Zero ? Starting Life in Another World, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil all press the button and move to a parallel world — another brand new isekai — where a new story featuring high school life in chibi begins. Now new characters arrive.

Tonight’s movie: “-Another World- ”

Our chibi isekai characters from many different shows stuck in a classroom together by mysterious forces, are inadvertantly transported to yet another alternate world due to a wormhole that suddenly opened in the classroom. They all arrive at a world ruled by an out-of-control golem. They also encounter a golem girl whose personality is similar to Megumin, a cane-wielding man who seems to know Subaru, and a woman dressed in the same uniform as Tanya’s. Our intrepid mismatched and separated group strives to return to their joint isekai world.

Tokyo Revengers

Watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend from way back in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had was just killed by a villainous group known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a crappy apartment with thin walls, and his younger boss treats him like an idiot. At the height of his rock-bottom life, he suddenly time-leaps twelve years back to his middle school days. To save Hinata, and change the life he spent running away, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the top of Kanto’s most sinister delinquent gang.

Tonight’s Episode: “Revenge”

While reconnecting with Hinata, Takemichi learns that he broke up with her sometime in the past. After he leaves her in the car, he runs into Hanma and sees Akkun drive a van into Hinata’s car, fatally injuring the both of them.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Catching Up to the Wolf” season 3

Kiroranke’s group obtain explosives from an abandoned lighthouse and plan to blow holes in the four walls of Ako prison. Unfortunately only one charge works, and as the prisoners head for the hole in the wall, they are confronted by a hungry Siberian tiger. Nevertheless, Sofia and many others make their escape across the ice floe, and she reunites with Kiroranke.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Return”

Shide notices that his armor and the Shadows attacked by Ushio are not regenerating, so he realizes that Ushio can erase Shadows just by touch now. After noticing the injuries Shinpei sustained from Ryuunosuke using his body, she lunges at Shide. Shadow-Mio, who was disguised as Shinpei’s watch, stops her and shares the plan with her. Haine, using Shinpei’s guise, tries to determine his plan, before telling Shide to stop Shinpei from shooting himself.
