Event arvo and Screening on Saturday 27^th August 2022

Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about ~1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

The month of August comes to an end so quickly here at JAFWA. As per usual at the end of the month, there is two events of note:

• The monthly survey to determine what of our shows are most popular, both regular items of recent preview items.

• The monthly Member’s Prize draw!

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Log Horizon series III – Destruction of the Round Table

It’s been a year since Shiroe and his friends were trapped in Akiba due to the Catastrophe. Their forging of the Round Table has brought order and prosperity to its people. But fracturing political alliances and the constant menace of the Genius monsters threaten to destabilize all they’ve fought for and built.

This evening’s Episode: “Not A Curse”

Crusty is rescued by Kanami’s party and they are attacked by Yourei, Elias and a Raid Boss also under her control. While Leonardo faces Elias alone, Crusty fights Yourei, who is revealed as the Genius Papus, and Kanami fights and defeats the raid boss with the rest of her party and help from the Lelang Wolf Cavalry Guild.

Spy x Family

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “The Friendship Scheme”

WISE’s second phase of Operation Strix involves making Anya an Imperial Scholar to infiltrate the school’s gathering and reach Donovan. To do so, Anya must earn eight Stella Stars, while avoiding receiving eight Tonitrus Bolts, which is equivalent to an expulsion. While shopping, Yor saves Anya from being kidnapped and agrees to teach her self-defense. Loid secretly arranges for Anya to be in the same class as Damian Desmond, Donovan’s second son.

preview item – Yurei Deco

The story takes place on Tom Sawyer Island, where everyone’s lives revolve around the use of an augmented reality system known as Deco and a currency known as Love. Berry, an average girl with a damaged Deco that shows her things others can’t see, meets the invisible Hack. Charmed by Hack, Berry meets up with the team Hack leads, the Yurei Detective Club. Members of this club are “socially dead,” working invisibly within the digitally controlled society of Tom Sawyer Island.

This evening’s Episodes: “The Adventures in Tom Sawyer”

On the island city of Tom Sawyer, society is run through a social credit system called Decoration Customizer, or “Deco” for short. Citizens work to collect “Love”, which acts as a currency for services and to improve their Deco avatars, which are displayed through a holographic augmented reality system implanted in their eyes. Berry is a young girl who is obsessed with finding Zero, a mythical criminal who is said to reduce the Love of anybody he encounters to zero. On the way to a doctor to get a faulty Deco display in her right eye repaired, Berry catches sight of a person who is invisible to Deco sight.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s greatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organisation that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “Welcome to the Island of Bubbles ”

Muru, a young woman with romantic ideals who lives in the village of Mitten, is telling stories to local fishermen about the village’s mermaid legends when there is a pile-up at the local drawbridge which involves Lupin’s car. While Lupin recovers from whiplash and waits for the bridge to be repaired, Muru is captivated by the beauty of Fujiko, who she thinks looks like a mermaid, and follows her and the rest of Lupin’s gang, concocting romantic tales in her mind as she observes them.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Open the Steins Gate ”

Suzuha explains that her mission is to prevent Kurisu’s death and enter a World Line known as Steins Gate, in which World War III never happens. Wanting to save Kurisu, Rintaro travels to the past with Suzuha in her time machine, arriving before Kurisu’s death. Witnessing events unfold as they did, Rintaro briefly runs into Kurisu, explaining their prior encounter, before hiding in the room where she will be stabbed.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Defeating an Upper Rank Demon ” Entertainment District arc

Gyutaro neutralizes the wisteria poison and regenerates his legs, allowing him to stop their charge. With his Blood Demon Art, he fends off Tengen and grabs Hinatsuru. Seeing her life in danger and hearing Tengen’s pleas, Tanjiro combines his Hinokami Kagura and Water Breathing, unleashing a very fast charge that stuns the demon, saving her. The battle intensifies.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 2

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Shaking Land”

The Spirit Tortoise awakens as the armies prepare their assault. Eclair leads the main army to distract and intercept the Tortoise, while Naofumi, his party, and Ost lure away the incoming familiars. Naofumi also fashions his cart with a Shield Hero flag which inspires the soldiers.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Ani Nekko” season 2

Tanigaki receives a telegram informing him that Huci is near death. He reflects on his friendship with Kenkichi, a fellow Matagi who married and later murdered Tanigaki’s sister; he vowed revenge, and joined the 7th after hearing a rumor that Kenkichi had joined the army.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Deadly Enemy”

Nagumo reveals to Shinpei a Shadow murdered her family 14 years ago, causing her to leave the island and change her name, later publishing a series of books about the experience. Nezu reveals that if a Shadow who has copied someone is killed, that person can never be copied again. Nagumo goes to Shiori’s home to kill Shadow-Shiori and her Shadow parents.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part B

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Night of the End”

Jean envisions a secure future and a happy life with his wife and child. He is brought out of his dream by Hange, who asks him and Mikasa to join the remaining Survey Corps and Marleyans to stop Eren’s intended genocide. At their camp in the forest, Magath clashes with the Survey Corps about which side started the conflict and prompts a heated debate over who are the real “devils”. Annie confronts Mikasa over whether she would be able to kill Eren if she cannot convince him to stop the Rumbling.
