Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 12:30PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

A reminder that next weekend is Kaiga Anime Festival Kaicon (at Claremont Showgrounds). The Event Afternoon is an opportunity to try out your cosplay, with Sally and her trusty sewing machine in attendance for any last minute adjustments, if required.

Screening on the evening of November 20^th 2021

JAFWA greets you after the Event afternoon. Technically this is the 31^st Anniversary of JAFWA. Are you celebrating in a good way? 🙂
Have you booked interest in JAFWA’s end of year Dinner yet? Time is passing quickly, and we will need to know how many to book for.

The end of the year is rapidely approaching, and we wish to finish as many regular series as possible, so as not to inflict a long break before we resume in 2022. But that means we will have empty timeslots, so before the next survey helps us decide what to show, let us have a couple of proview episodes to add to our progran possibilities.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contract Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

Shadows House (Shadou Hausu)

In a grandiose and dark mansion, the denizens of the Shadow House live, attended by their Living Doll partners who endlessly clean the soot their masters emit. Emilico, a young and cheerful Living Doll, is delighted to start serving her mistress Kate. As the two grow closer and are slowly exposed to various events within the House, they start to discover a number of dark secrets.

Tonight’s Episode: “An Incomplete Map”

The elder Shadows comment and watch a virtual map as the Debut Shadows and their Living Dolls struggle in the Garden Labyrinth. Traps and puzzles abound. They must learn from each other.

Odd Taxi

Set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, it follows the story of Odokawa, a 41-year old Walrus taxi driver shown to have no relatives and does not have much to do with others. But he usually has conversations with other animal inhabitants that ride in his taxi on their way home. With Odokawa having those conversations with several people, they may give him some leads to a high school girl who has disappeared several days ago.

This evening’s Episodes: “If We Could Go Back to That Day” and “Not Enough”

Rui reflects on her recent past, how her good looks got her through an audition to star in Mystery Kiss and how she kept feeling inferior despite being appointed the leader by Yamamoto, due to Yuki being better than her in various other areas. Then Yuki ends up getting murdered, so Rui and Yamamoto worked with Yano to dump Yuki’s body in the harbor and replace her with another girl who looked similar, but Yuki’s body was eventually found. The reprecussions echo across the area. Still Dobu’s “Odd Taxi” plan goes into action as Yano’s van is packed full of suitcases with fake money while Dobu gets the remaining nine cases of real money from the bank.

Tonight’s Episode: “Memories”

Ten years ago, Fena Houtman washed ashore on the colonized island of Shangri-La after her family’s ship was attacked in the dead of night and was saved by a boy named Yukimaru. In the present day, Fena sold her virginity and was put in an arranged marriage to an ill-tempered British soldier in an attempt to escape the island with the money. That evening, after her plans hit a snag, she is saved by Otto and Salman, two senior knights who used to serve her family. Fena is then saved by a small group of hidden warriors.

I’m a Spider, So What? (Kuma desu ga, nanika)

After a Japanese classroom was destroyed by a mysterious explosion all the students reincarnated as humans on a fantasy world except for a female student who had the lowest reputation on the classroom, she was reincarnated as a spider monster. Being the weakest monster on the dungeon she need to survive using all her human intellect and courage.

Tonight’s Episode: “So, I’m Not in This One, Am I? ”

Katia suggests the barrier might be sabotaged, given Hugo’s mind control, but the elves dismiss her concerns. Oka reveals the existence of the Administrators who summon beings from other worlds, allow them to level up powerful skills, then steal the skills for themselves, which is why she believes the reincarnations exist.

retro – Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena)

Utena Tenjou, a teenage girl who expresses her desire to be a prince through her strong-willed personality and tomboyish manner of dress. She finds herself drawn into a series of sword duels at Ohtori Academy, to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the “Rose Bride” who possesses the “power to revolutionize the world”.

Tonight’s Episode: “And the Doors of Night Open ”

Touga invites Utena to the dueling arena at night, where he confesses his feelings to her. Convinced that his love is real and selfless, Touga fights together with Saionji to defeat Utena so they may save her from a final, deadly duel against Akio. Utena wins the Duel, but when she sees Anthy and Akio together, she faces one final test of nobility to decide whether she truly is a Prince.

Fire Force (En’en no Shouboutai, literally “Blazing Firefighting Corps”) – season 2

In the year 198 of the Age of the Sun, Tokyo is a crowded cosmopolis. But the world’s most populous city is threatened by devils that cause people to burst into flame at random. The only ones who can stop it are the Pyrofighters, a team of specialized firefighters. The young Shinra, blessed with the ability to ignite his feet and travel at the speed of a rocket, wants nothing more than to be a hero, and knows that this is the place for him. But he’s not the best at following orders.

Tonight’s Episode: “Plot for Extinction ”

Shinra and Arthur continue their battle with Dr. Giovanni who uses his new insect ability to predict their moves. Meanwhile, Licht explains to Commander Honda that the Evangelist plans to destroy the center of the Tokyo Empire by exploding Infernals which have been strategically arranged within the Nether. He suggests that Maki may have the power to redirect the blast even though they may all be incinerated underground.

Tonight’s Episode: “Quantum of Trust”

Lugh and his companions accept a contract to assassinate the corrupt nobles assisting a slave auction. During this time, a flashback of his previous life shows he was training a rookie while simultaneously taking out members of a crime syndicate. When the rookie suggested killing every single criminal on sight, Lugh replied that they were only hired to kill specific members. As they tried to escape, Lugh and the rookie were intercepted by a drone, which forced them to improvise in order to avoid it.

Wonder Egg Priority

Avoiding school, Ai scores a “Wonder Egg” from a gachapon machine at a deserted arcade. But now when Ai falls asleep a girl emerges from her Wonder Egg, the worlds of dreams and reality begin to collide. And it’s all connected.

Tonight’s Episode: “Confession ”

Momoe is tasked to protect Kaoru Kurita, a transgender boy, from the Wonder Killer form of his PE teacher. After he is rescued, Kaoru confesses to her before he disappears, with Momoe finally having someone seeing her romantically as a girl. Momoe clears the game, but Haruka only vanishes. A new enemy approaches Momoe and kills her Pomander, Panic. Meanwhile, Ai attends Mr. Sawaki’s art exhibit to learn the truth behind Koito’s death.

Talentless Nana (Munou na Nana)

An academy on an island in unnavigable waters. There, students trained tirelessly to fight back against the enemies of humanity. Nana, a student newly transferred there, also sets out with the intention of eradicating all enemies of humankind.

This evening’s Episode: “Talented vs. Talentless Part 2 ”

Tsunekichi decides to blackmail Nana by using the photos he took. When he falls asleep, Nana learns that Tsunekichi gets his prophetic visions via a normal camera. The next morning, Tsunekichi confiscates one of his photos Nana has in her possession. While Tsunekichi is away, Nana tampers his watch.
