probable Screening on Saturday 8^th May 2021

The pandemic lockdown prevented us from screening last time, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth for those hoping for a marathon length anime binge (not to mention the pizza and sushi). We are being optimistic and planning to screen a normal program this week. Always remember that another lockdown may be called, so keep on eye-on FB or our webpage for confirmation that JAFWA is still permitted to screen.
Just a reminder to come early, if permitted, as the COVID countermeasures limit the number of people we can admit.

This week we finish the series we meant to finish in April, therefore there is only room to start four new regular series this week.

Bunnings Cannington Sausage Sizzle

One of JAFWA’s main fundraisers is coming up on the 5th of June, and we need your support. If you are interested in Volunteering to help JAFWA’s Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, please let the committee know ASAP. It’s a five-person shift, either from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and 12:00pm to 4:00pm or possibly later if permitted.

Annual General Meeting and Elections

Being an incorporated club, JAFWA needs to hold annual elections, which will be occurring in July.
Anyone can nominated to enter the elections, so long as they are:

1. A fully registered and paid up member of JAFWA for 3 months before the election.
2. Resident of WA.

If you haven’t done so before, being involved in a non-for-profit organisational committee is a great way to learn some new skills and be a part of something great. The JAFWA committee hopes to see you at the AGM to discuss the progress of your club, and looks forward to any new blood and ideas for the future of JAFWA.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contract Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

This evening’s Episode: “Apprentice” Finale

After finishing Sofia’s portrait, Arte must decide if she is going to stay or return to Florence. Meanwhile, Leo begins work on the church ceiling. Arte is visited by Matei, who apologizes to her for what he said. Realizing her talent is to be valued, Arte decides to return to Florence.

Appare Ranman! (aka “Appare in Full Bloom!”)

After a certain mishap, the brilliant but socially inept engineer Appare Sorano and the shrewd but cowardly samurai Kosame Isshiki find themselves drifting on a boat from Japan to America. Broke, the two decide to compete in the Trans-America Wild Race to win the prize and return to Japan. The two battle crazy rivals, outlaws, and the great outdoors itself as they race through the wild West from the starting line in Los Angeles to the finish line in New York — in the steam-powered car they built.

This evening’s Episode: “Over the Moon” Finale

The group of rescuers enter the church and prepare to attack Gil the Butcher. But in close combat, Gil is too fast and skilled for them and they retreat. Gil reveals that Sofia is on the train bound for Chicago where he intends for it to crash into the terminal station and cause massive destruction.

Dr Stone season 2 “Stone Wars”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilization with his Kingdom of Science. Now as he sets down blueprints for a smartphone in the stone world, Tsukasa and his Empire of Might prepare for the upcoming war.

This evening’s Episode: “Prologue of Dr. Stone ” Finale

Chrome and Tsukasa’s men now unite to build a scientific civilization. Kohaku apprehends Homura, while Hyoga is restrained. Senku directs how to make superglue to seal wounds, however he reveals it’s only to buy Tsukasa time. Senku decides to petrify Tsukasa in order to keep him alive.

After a Japanese classroom was destroyed by a mysterious explosion all the students reincarnated as humans on a fantasy world except for a female student who had the lowest reputation on the classroom, she was reincarnated as a spider monster. Being the weakest monster on the dungeon she need to survive using all her human intellect and courage.

Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokuj?: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiraremasen)

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Choice to Be an Apprentice Priestess ”

Lutz scolds Myne as she rests in a temple bed for collapsing from excitement after finding out she can become a temple librarian. When she arrives home and tells her family about her plan, however, Gunther angrily refuses to allow her to go and convinces her that priestesses are for orphans that must stay at the temple. As Myne comes to terms with this, the Devouring begins to bubble up inside her due to her inner turmoil of choosing between books and family.

retro – Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena)

Utena Tenjou, a teenage girl who expresses her desire to be a prince through her strong-willed personality and tomboyish manner of dress. She finds herself drawn into a series of sword duels at Ohtori Academy, to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the “Rose Bride” who possesses the “power to revolutionize the world”.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Landscape Framed by Kozue”

Kozue dates many male students in order to keep the attention of her twin brother Miki. Mikage and Mamiya decide that the best way to defeat Utena is to create Duelists who have holds on the Student Council members’ hearts, enabling them to steal their respective dueling swords from their bodies and use them to fight.

Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland) season 2

Emma is an 11-year-old orphan living in Grace Field House, a small orphanage housing her and her 37 siblings. Life had never been better; with food that tasted gourmet, plush beds, snow-white uniforms, and the love of their “Mother” (the caretaker) Isabella, as well the litany of daily exams that Emma always aced with her two best friends Ray and Norman. The orphans are basically allowed to do whatever they want, except to venture out of the compounds or the gate that connects the house to the outside world. Then she finds out the truth. Determined to break out of Grace Field House, Norman and Emma partner up with Ray to peel away at the façade of the farm and find a way to escape with all their other siblings. But escape and freedom has its own dangers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Episode 10 ”

Emma and Norman devise a plan to rescue Phil and the others from Grace Field House. On Norman’s instructions, Vincent informs Peter Ratri that Norman plans to drop the drug to cause demon degeneration from airborne balloons. Ratri prepares for the attack and arranges for all the children to be brought to his headquarters while demons bring down the balloons, causing explosions and fires.

Re:Zero ? Starting Life in Another World (Ri:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) season 2

Slacker Subaru has been mysteriously transported into a fantasy world, and involved in the politics of royal ascension, and magical terrorist expression. After learning more behind the Death Loop and Witches of Sin, Subaru vows to save Emilia and his friends from further doom.

Tonight’s Episode: “Each One’s Promise”

After the battle with the Witch Cult, Subaru travels back to Crusch’s manor with Emilia, when he discovers, to his horror, that everyone has forgotten Rem. Earlier, she and Crusch were ambushed by the Sin Archbishops of Gluttony and Greed. Although they fought fiercely, both ended up having their existences eaten by the Archbishop of Gluttonycausing Rem to fall into a coma, with no-one but Subaru remembering her.

Moriarty the Patriot (Y?koku no Mori?ti)

James Moriarty is an orphan who assumes the name William James Moriarty when he and his younger brother are adopted into the Moriarty family. As a young man, he seeks to remove the ills caused by England’s strict class system.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Earl’s Crime ”

William James Moriarty, future nemesis of Sherlock Holmes, lives in late 19th century London. William learns of a serial killer who has murdered seven young boys and immediately deduces from their fathers’ occupations the killer is a nobleman who encountered the boys at their fathers’ shops, except for one boy who was homeless. The crime consultant goes to work.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part 1

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline

Tonight’s Episode: “The Other Side of the Sea ”

Due to the Warrior Unit’s defeat on Paradis Island four years ago, the Mid-East Allied Forces had declared war against Marley. The operation to reclaim the Founding Titan was put on hold. Marley sends Eldian soldiers to take Fort Slava, including Warrior Candidates (candidates to inherit the Power of the Nine Titans) Falco Grice, his older brother Colt, Gabi Braun, Udo and Zofia. Colt proposes to Commander Theo Magath that they use the power of the Warrior Titans, but he refuses due to the Allied Forces’ armored train possessing a deadly anti-Titan cannon.
