Hope you enjoyed all the new series starting last week. This week we will try to preview something from the Japanese Winter anime season.

A reminder that the JAFWA AGM and committee elections are coming up in July. Time to start thinking of your election pitches and how you will overlord it when you get elected to the JAFWA committee. Though for legal liability purposes, we can’t let eligible people forget to vote in the Federal Election – try to aim for the least worse candidates. You might also want to attend Tokyo Alley #7 before JAFWA.

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Gears Spin Out of Control ”

The Dryad Treyni explains that the invading Orc Lord has used a unique skill “Starved” on the Orcs, causing them to constantly crave sustenance, go berserk, and even eat their own to gain more power. Accepting Treyni’s request, Rimuru sends Souei to negotiate with the lizardmen for an alliance, though Gabiru will prove unco-operative.

One Punch Man season 2

An increase in villain activity has the Hero Organization worried that the “Earthdoom prophecy” will soon come to pass. In an effort to alleviate the overworked heroes, they turn to villains themselves for help. The decision looks ill-advised as at least one villain is more interested in helping the prophecy along than preventing it. Meanwhile, the invincible Saitama is still bored, trying to find a decent challenge.

This evening’s Episodes: “The Human Monster ”

During the villain hiring meeting, Garou insults both the heroes and the villains, saying that he is on the side of monsters and declares everyone as his enemy. He beats up everyone using his martial arts skill except Sitch, the President of the Hero Association, as a message to spread the word of Garou.

Preview item – Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai – Tensai-tachi no Ren’ai Zunousen)

Student council president Miyuki Shirogane and vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya appear to be the perfect couple. Kaguya is the daughter of a wealthy conglomerate family, and Miyuki is the top student at the school and well-known across the prefecture. Although they like each other, they are too proud to confess their love as they believe whoever does so first would lose. The story follows their many schemes to make the other one confess.

This evening’s Episodes: “I Will Make You Invite Me to a Movie / Kaguya Wants to Be Stopped / Kaguya Wants It ”

Student Council secretary Chika has movie tickets to give to Student Council president Miyuki, who puzzles over whether to invite Student Council vice-president Kaguya. However, Kaguya, who had planted the tickets, wants Miyuki to invite her. When Kaguya gets a love letter, Miyuki tries to stop her from going without confessing. When Miyuki brings his homemade lunch and shares some with Chika, Kaguya glares angrily at the two and gets jealous of their feeding each other.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

This evening’s Episodes: “The Story of Bandai ”

Dororo accompanies the young man, who seems to be unable to see, hear, or talk. However, he has excellent sword skills, super-human strength, and the ability to detect friendly or unfriendly beings by the colour of their souls. Dororo takes the young man to a village run by a beautiful woman named Bandai and offers to slay a local monster which rings a pilgrim bell, for a fee.

Lupin the Third – Part V

The series is set in modern-day France, and follows the thief Arsène Lupin III, and his associates the marksman Daisuke Jigen, the swordsman Goemon Ishikawa XIII, the con artist Fujiko Mine along with his nemesis Inspector Koichi Zenigata, and are joined by the Ami Enan, a teenage hacker.

Tonight’s Episode: “Answer Me, Zantetsuken ” and “Just Then, An Old Buddy Said Something ”

PeopleLog has stirred doubts within Goemon about whether Lupin sees him as an equal partner, but he still rejoins Lupin, Jigen and Ami to infiltrate the headquarters of Shake Handz on Olig Island in the Republic of Maul in order to take down the AI system. But Enzo is anticipating them, and can counter the hacker Ami by bringing her together with her father. Will Lupin survive long enough to be arrested by Zenigata? Is anywhere safe from the influence of PeopleLog.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

Tonight’s Episode: “Wave of Catastrophe ”

While leveling up in preparation for the next Wave, Naofumi unlocks a huge variety of transformations for his shield, each with a unique ability, while Raphtalia quickly matures into a young woman. To determine the time remaining until the next Wave, Naofumi and Raphtalia visit the local cathedral and its Dragon Hourglass, which measures the time between Waves. While there, much to his chagrin, they meet the three other heroes, who still scorn him and view him as a liability.

Overlord season 3

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination. Without human conscience due to being undead, he is motivated only to continue searching for other players from Yggdrasil and to gain power to better protect the children and home of him and his forty former companions. Lord Ains Ooal Gown maintains his mantle of Overlord and leads the Great Tomb of Nazarick unto the world stage, directly into a vicious power struggle between two great empires.

Tonight’s Episode: “Carne Village Once More ”

Ainz brings together the Nazarick NPCs to review the grand plan overall with Demiurge recounting; when really he just wants to learn the demon’s thought process. To his surprise, he discovers that all the NPCs have interpreted his actions to mean he is engaged in world conquest. Meanwhile, in Carne village where he first appeared in this world, events are proceeding.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3

Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.

Tonight’s Episode: “Pain ”

The serial killer Kenny the Ripper, now working for the Military Police’s Interior Squad, pursues Levi with members of his group. Mikasa hears the commotion and leads the other scouts in defense of Historia and Eren, which involves killing other humans, something they have never done before.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Grateful Dead, part 1 ”

Beach Boy’s hook makes its way through Mista’s body his towards his brain. Mista desperately sends Sex Pistols to shatter the ice that Pesci is using to keep cool and stop him from being affected by The Grateful Dead’s ability to age everyone. Still, the Hitman Prosciutto and his stand The Grateful Dead are on the loose, and can the our heroes reamin hidden in the extra dimensional hidey hole of Coco Jambo?
