Below is the program for the evening of Saturday October 21^th, 2017.

As spring in Perth becomes more apparent, what better way to enjoy a lazy Saturday evening but to come to JAFWA and watch a selection of fine anime?
This week we will also show the first episode preview of an anime series of activities in a Japanese school club, when that club revolves around the traditional Japanese art of Kabuki theatre, as will as the first episode of a fighting anime.

The JAFWA End of Year marathon screening for 2017 is closing in upon us. Soon we hope to have a first draft of the program for Saturday 16^th December, though there is a still a chance to put in a suggestion for what you want to see on the program. Special News – we are negotiating with Madman Entertainment to screen the “Your Name”/”Kimi no Na wa” movie.

Synopsis

Little Witch Academia TV

Akko Kagari enrolls into Luna Nova Academy, a school for young witches, after being inspired at a young age by a witch named Shiny Chariot, and often spends her days hanging with her classmates, Lotte and Sucy. However, she has trouble paying attention in class, doesn’t know how to ride her broom, and is often looked down upon for admiring Chariot, whom many believe gives the wrong impression about witches.

This evening’s Episode: “Stanship Take Off! / The Stanship of the Great Air Battle”

An annual ghost-hunting event, known as the Wild Hunt, is coming to Blytonbury for its final stage. After accidentally breaking one of her robots, Akko offers to help silent tech genius Constanze. Constanze is reluctant to let Akko help her as she prefers to work alone, but Akko soon manages to prove herself useful by helping Constanze gather the materials needed for the battleship she intends to use for the event.

Made in Abyss

An orphan girl named Riko who lives in the town of ?su on an island in the sea of Beoluska. The city surrounds a strange, giant hole going deep into the earth, which is commonly called the Abyss. The Abyss harbors artefacts and remnants of a civilisation long gone, and is therefore the popular hunting spot for so-called Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and dangerous descends into the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find. However, the deeper one goes into the Abyss, the more one is afflicted by a progressively fatal malady called the Curse of the Abyss; few who have descended into the lower regions have returned to tell of their experiences.

This evening’s Episode: “Resurrection Festival”

Riko and her friends attempt to figure out exactly what Reg is, but cannot find anything mentioning a robot in the list of recorded relics recovered from the Abyss. Realizing that Reg will be taken away and dissected if he was ever found out, Riko disguises him as a regular orphan and arranges his enrollment in the orphanage.

Isekai Shokudou (Restaurant to Another World)

The Western Restaurant Nekoya is a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which, despite its name, offers a lot of Japanese dishes in addition to Western ones. It opens during usual business hours and closed during holidays and weekends. But secretly it is open on Saturdays, as on this particular day it creates doorways to another world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake on its menu, with all of them becoming regular patrons.

This evening’s Episode: “Spaghetti with Meat Sauce / Chocolate Parfait”

Thomas Alfade, who has made a successful pasta company in his world, takes his grandson and successor Sirius with him to the Nekoya to do some business. Upon trying the restaurant’s spaghetti with meat sauce, Sirius learns that all the pasta and sauces that have made the Alfade company famous are actually mere imitations of the Nekoya’s menu.

retro series from 1982 – Ch?jik? Y?sai Makurosu (Super Dimension Fortress Macross)

In 1999 a city-sized alien spacecraft crashes in South Ataria Island on Earth. Over the course of 10 years the military organization U.N. Spacy reverse-engineers its technology and rebuilds the spacecraft, naming it the SDF-1 Macross. In 2009 at the launch ceremony of the Macross, a space war fleet from the alien Zentraedi arrives in the solar system and identifies the Macross as a former battleship used by their enemies. Mistakes happen. Thus begins the war between Human and Zentraedi, led by the brave crew of the Macross.

This evening’s Episode: “Transformation”

Zentraedi commander Britai Kridanik and his archivist, Exsedol Folmo, begin suspecting that the humans (or ‘miclones’) are the long-lost ‘Protoculture’ and send attack waves to test their theory. During a Zentraedi attack, Captain Global orders the Macross to “reconfigure” itself to combat mode.

preview item – Kabukibu! (Kabuki club!)

Kurogo Kurusu, a high school student who loves kabuki so much that it’s annoying. Kurogo yearns to perform kabuki as part of a club at his school, but currently his school doesn’t have a kabuki club. So Kurogo sets out to create a kabuki club, and his first order of business is to gather members.

This evening’s Episode: “This One from Spring…”

Kurogo Kurusu gained his love of Kabuki theatre from his grandfather, and now seeks to form a kabuki troupe at his school. But he needs a minimum of 5 members to create a club, but who amongst his fellow students are devoted to Kabuki? The traditional art of Kabuki does not have many modern adherents…

In the distant future, the discovery of the new mineral Orichalt has allowed humanity to expand beyond the Sol System. On the constant lookout for Orichalt, humanity has developed I-Machines, robots that operate in extreme environments. I-Machines function by transferring a human pilot’s consciousness into the robot’s operating system. While Alliance Academy student Maya Mikuri is in the middle of operating an I-Machine, she gets involved in an incident with pirates, and ends up serving as a crew member on an excavation company’s spaceship.

Tonight’s Episode: “Seeking the Truth”

Addams tries to contain information about the destruction of planet Fifth. The Stulti crew discuss the fact that Sam Taylor may be a clone of Arisugawa because of their physical similarities and prepare to travel to Colony planet Sixth to talk to Arisugawa, unaware that Karla has been compromised.

Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho (Starting the Magical Book from Zero/Grimoire of Zero)

Zero is a witch who is ignorant of the world and travels with a half-beast half-human mercenary who longs to be human. Witches and their sorcery are notorious throughout the land, though knowledge of the existence of magic remains elusive. Zero is going on a journey to search for a magical tome called “The Book of Zero” that hides a power that can destroy the world. The mercenary travels with her as her guard.

Tonight’s Episode: “Sorena’s Granddaughter”

While recovering from his injuries, the wolf-man tells the Mercenary that he used to be a minor human noble named Holdem who had to flee his position. After encountering Sorena in a forest, Holdem asked her to make him into a Beastfallen so he could stay with her and her granddaughter.

The 12th Twelve Tournament gets held every twelve years. Twelve brave, strange warriors who bear the names of the signs of the zodiac fight each other for the lives and souls.The victor of this tournament gets to have one wish granted, whatever the wish may be.

This evening’s Episode: “Even Boars May Become Pigs After Seven Generations”

In a city now devoid of people, Boar, with light machine guns akimbo heads towards a central building. As she enters the building, she reminisces about how she became the family’s contender in the Zodiac Tournament. At the top, she sees the other contenders, although one, the Snake, is already dead.

Re: Creators

S?ta Mizushino is a young high school student and anime fan who dreams of writing his own light novel. While looking to an anime for inspiration, the iPad he is watching it on sputters and drags him into the anime’s world, where he witness a battle between the anime’s character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform. After returning with Selesia, S?ta discovers that other characters from different stories and forms of media were also brought to the real world, with some of them aligned with the military uniform girl, who promised them the ways to end the strife in their worlds and a way back home, unaware of her true intentions.

Tonight’s Episode: “Waves Approach the End of Wandering This is perfect! She couldn’t have been any more perfect!”

There are still some more creations appearing in the real world, but they don’t have to be powerful to be popular. As Hikayu is brought under Kikuchihara’s custody, Sho Hakada, the protagonist of Exclusive Underground: Dark Night, joins Altair’s team in the hopes of getting revenge against Yuya, while Alicetaria approaches Magane with a certain request.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)

It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.

… An ancient enemy of the family has returned.

Tonight’s Episode: “Long Travels, Goodbye My Friend” Finale

As DIO is empowered by the blood he got from Joseph, becoming able to stop time for longer periods, Jotaro sees a vision of Joseph’s soul, encouraging him not to lose his cool. Unable to relinquish his anger, Jotaro is put into deeper trouble as DIO stops time and brings down a road roller on top of him.
