Below is the program for the evening of Saturday August 26th, 2017.

This week we say farewell to “Bernard Jou Iwaku” (aka “Miss Bernard Speaks”). We currently do not have plans to replaces this 5 minute long show. New suggestions will be welcome. We hope you have enjoyed this little show and have been inspired to read a bit more.
We have this week a preview episode of an anime from last season that lets you be Queen for a day, and a youth romance movie. The movie is actually a bit short, so we will make up the time with a second episode of the dark “Re:Creators”.

And once again, during the Dinner Break we will do our monthly survey to find out which shows and genres you like best at JAFWA.

But I am sure many people are waiting for the Celebrate Studio Ghibli at the cinemas from this Thursday. The Program will be shown at Innaloo Event Cinemas, Morley Event Cinemas, Carousel Hoyts, Garden City Hoyts, and at our old favourite Luna Leederville.

Atom: The Beginning

This series is a prequel to Osamu Tezuka’s “Astro Boy” series, depicting the events up until the birth of Astro Boy. Two prodigies, Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu, have spent endless amounts of time researching robots, eventually producing the robot A106.

This evening’s Episode:Robot Wrestling

Dr. Lolo’s challenge to Umataro and Hiroshi to enter Robo wrestling has piqued their anger. But when the two robotics students see past battles, Hiroshi is worried that A106 will be beaten up, while Umataro is convibce of a106’s power.

Little Witch Academia

Akko Kagari enrolls into Luna Nova Academy, a school for young witches, after being inspired at a young age by a witch named Shiny Chariot, and often spends her days hanging with her classmates, Lotte and Sucy. However, she has trouble paying attention in class, doesn’t know how to ride her broom, and is often looked down upon for admiring Chariot, whom many believe gives the wrong impression about witches.

This evening’s Episode:Samhain Magic Festival

Finally consoled to her role as sacrifice in the upcoming Samhain Festival, and wanting to follow Chariot’s example, Akko proposes putting on a metamorphosis show to make the ghost smile, which prompts Ursula to look into what caused ghost’s sorrow in the first place.

Yoshino Koharu is a young girl trying to look for a job in Tokyo, but is only met with a series of rejections. However, she has a seemingly lucky break when she receives a job offer to work with the tourism board of the economically struggling Manoyama village as their “Queen”. With no other choice, Yoshino accepts the offer and travels to Manoyama only to find out that she was hired based on a case of mistaken identity and that her contract term is for one year instead of the one day, as she had initially thought. With nowhere else to go, Yoshino reluctantly becomes Queen of Manoyama.

This evening’s Episode:Off to Magical Manoyama

Yoshino attempts to find a job in Tokyo before she graduates from college, but has little luck. She finally receives a job offer to act as Queen for the rural village of Manoyama. Despite having moved out of a rural town to enjoy city life in Tokyo, Yoshino decides to accept the job, only to find out from the town’s tourism board that she was hired based on mistaken identity. Nevertheless, Yoshino goes through the “coronation” ceremony.

movie – Zutto Mae kara Suki deshita. Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai (I want to let you know that I love you)

The movie is centered around a group of high school friends who struggle to confess their love. The story begins when Natsuki Enomoto confesses to her childhood friend Yu Setoguchi, embarrassed she denies her love for Yu and calls it a “practice confession. The next day Natsuki is confronted by her friends, Akari Hayasaka and Mio Aida, and is forced to admit her failing. Although Mio and Natsuki are having problems confessing their love, Akari remains untroubled by the possibility of unrequited love.

Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho (Starting the Magical Book from Zero/Grimoire of Zero)

Zero is a witch who is ignorant of the world and travels with a half-beast half-human mercenary who longs to be human. Witches and their sorcery are notorious throughout the land, though knowledge of the existence of magic remains elusive. Zero is going on a journey to search for a magical tome called “The Book of Zero” that hides a power that can destroy the world. The mercenary travels with her as her guard.

Tonight’s Episode:Duel

The trio arrive in Formicum as the Mercenary demands that Zero buy herself a new outfit. After some awkward scenes at a shop, the group struggles to find a room for the night. After the Mercenary rescues a girl in an alley, a wolf-like Beastfallen points him towards a hotel that accepts non-humans.

Re: Creators

Souta Mizushino is a young high school student and anime fan who dreams of writing his own light novel. While looking to an anime for inspiration, the iPad he is watching it on sputters and drags him into the anime’s world, where he witness a battle between the anime’s character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform. After returning with Selesia, Souta discovers that other characters from different stories and forms of media were also brought to the real world, with some of them aligned with the military uniform girl, who promised them the ways to end the strife in their worlds and a way back home, unaware of her true intentions.

Tonight’s Episode:Everything I Can Do I CHOSE this way of life.” and “The Blooming Maiden Digs a Hole This world requires choice and resolution.

From the illustration found by Masaaki, the others learn about the character Altair and her creator Setsuna. Sota meets with Meteora and tells her about a person who once hurt his friend’s feelings out of jealousy. Afterwards, Souta is confronted by Magane, who deduces that he was the person who hurt his friend’s feelings, resulting in their death, and blackmails him into becoming her ally. Meanwhile, Mamika confronts Altair about her intentions and they talk about their opposing ideologies. However, when Mamika mentions Setsuna, Altair snaps. A badly wounded Mamika comes across Magane and asks her to pass on a message to Alicetaria. However, Magane deliberately twists Mamika’s final words

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World)

Kazuma Satou wasn’t looking for anything beyond his simple high school shut-in existence. But one untimely death later and he finds himself before the goddess Aqua with the chance to be deposited in a fantasy kingdom that is in need of heroes to defeat a demon lord. Things don’t look good from the moment he arrives and so Kazuma decides to ditch the whole “save the world” thing and just try to become rich and live comfortably. Unfortunately, the various eccentric companions he is saddled with aren’t really helping with that goal.

Tonight’s Episode:A Panty Treasure in This Right Hand!

As Kazuma becomes cautious about new recruit Darkness’ odd behavior, her thief friend Chris offers to teach him a Steal skill, which he inadvertently uses to steal girls’ panties. Later, the entire town is brought together to defeat an army of cabbage monsters for the harves.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)

It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.

… An ancient enemy of the family has returned.

Tonight’s Episode:The Miasma of the Void, Vanilla Ice, Part 1

After Jotaro’s declaration, D’Arby uses Atum to peer into Jotaro’s soul, which he uses to determine whether Jotaro is lying or not. However, contrary to his deduction that Jotaro was not lying about his pitch, his pitches turn out to be different from expected. Meanwhile, Polnareff, Abdul, and Iggy venture inside the mansion, encountering a couple of enemy Stand users, including DIO’s right-hand man Vanilla Ice.
