Below is the program for November 19th, 2016.
Hopefully this week more people will attend. JAFWA has long been a sanctuary from the stress of exams.

We apologise for not starting the new regular 3 minute series “Flying Witch Petit” last week. Between the shock horrifying event at the end of last week’s episode of “Ore Monogatari” and the fact that we were breaking in JAFWA’s new projector and sound system, we substituted in what may or may not be the one-off “Shelter 00” instead, to make the evening more special. “Flying Witch Petit” should therefore start this week. (unless you want to hold it off until January?)
This week we will have a couple of one-off items to pad the program out so we can start all new regular series in 2017. And two episodes of “GATE”. Whoo Hoo! JAFWA is good.

Akagami no Shirayukihime – (Shirayuki (“Snow white”) princess of the red hair)

Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.

Tonight’s Episodes:Let Me Hear the Melody of Your Smile

As Raji of Tanbarun continues his tour, First Prince Izana confronts Zen and Shirayuki about the true nature of their relationship. Will the revelation weaken or strengthen the bond between the two of them?

The little restaurant of Wagnaria has a very eccentric staff that, against all odds, keep the place running and the customers coming back. Amidst the scheming assistant chef, the blasé boss, the katana wielding head waitress, the androphobe and the freeloader is Takanashi Souta, a high school student lured into working here by his obsession with anything small and cute … like waitress Taneshima Popura.

Tonight’s Episodes:The Goodbye Girl (Yamada)

Staying over at S?ta’s house, Aoi (the fake Yamada waitress) explains her backstory about being constantly forced to study by her mother, inevitably pointing out the reason she ran away was because Kirio (the fake Yamada searching for his younger sister, and romancing Inami) ate her natto. As the other staff members try to convince Aoi to return home over the next few days, Popura asks Kirio to bring over his mother, Kikuno, with her speech difficulty.

Ore Monogatari! (My Love Story!)

Takeo Gouda is tall. No, Takeo Gouda is huge. He’s a high-schooler in a giant’s body. That’s been great for all the school sporting clubs he was part of, but less useful in his attempts to find love. But the real problem there is his handsome best friend Makoto Sunakawa, who ends up getting confessions from everyone Takeo likes. In fact it happens so often Takeo now expects it. And then one day, quite by accident, Takeo meets Rinko Yamato …

Tonight’s Episodes:My Strength

Takeo agrees to join the judo club for a month in order to help them in an upcoming match against a rival school, despite the fact it’ll give him less time to spend with Rinko Yamato. As Rinko holds herself back from seeing Takeo to avoid interfering with his training, she tells Makoto about the reasons she fell in love with Takeo. Meanwhile the opposition thinks Takeo will have grown soft from having a girlfriend.

Anime Tamago – Utopa

From the successor of the Young Animators contest that brought us gems such as “Little Witch Academia” and “Death Parade”, comes another award winning animation from Studio 4C.

Tonight’s winning entry:Utopa

After the sixth great extinction, humanity and the surviving wild animals retreat to cities in the sky. Centuries later, their descendants Haruma, Kui and Ruuto leave their home in the sky to look for the origin of a seed they found one day. On their adventure they find many new plants and animals. When a caterpillar they befriended is taken away by a large bird, they challenge him to rescue their friend.

OAV – Maho Tsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus Bride)

Chise Hatori, 15 years old. Lost, without hope, and without family, she is bought for money … not by another person, but by a non-human sorcerer named Elias. Though she hesitates, she begins life anew as his apprentice and future wife.
This OAV came as a bonus DVD with the manga’s Japanese 5th volume.

Tonight’s Episodes:Those Awaiting A Star” part one

Chise Hatori moves on with her new and peaceful life, slowly but surely, until one day, when she finds a Japanese picture book among the many sent to her from London by magical supply store owner Angelica. It is a fateful book that she discovered her in her younger years, when she was still troubled and lonely. This piece is a prequel to Chise’s encounter with the Thorn Sorcerer.

Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri (Gate: The Self Defence Forces Fight Like This in That Place)

Youji Itami is a 33-year old otaku. He loves anime and does his best to never miss a convention or product sale. Youji is also a member of Japan’s Self Defense Force. After an invasion of Tokyo from an alternate universe, Youji’s unit is sent through the gateway to this alternate dimension to push back the invaders, taking him away from his beloved anime and manga. But maybe this won’t be all bad … because this parallel universe is straight out of a fantasy manga.

Tonight’s Episode:Deadline” and “The Empress in Slave’s Clothing

The Rose Knights manage to repel the Oprichnina and free Senator Casel too, but this leads to an escalation of tension between Japan and the Empire. Meanwhile, Itami and the others manage to neutralize an assassination attempt against them, and prepare a plan to capture the Pied Piper, the leader of the assassins sent to kill them.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero)

Being teleported to a fantasy world means you’re the chosen one, right? Natsuki Subaru certainly thought so, but it seems he’s not the fated hero, he’s just another guy in a world full of wizards, warriors and demi-humans. Still, there are decent people in this world and Subaru quickly finds people willing to lend him a hand, people he wants to help in return. But how can a mere high school student hope to challenge the monstrous and magical forces of this world? After all he only gets one shot at this, right?

Tonight’s Episodes:The Sound of Chains

Subaru is revived once again. To figure out how he was killed in the previous timelines, he chooses to take the role of a retainer in Roswaal’s mansion. In a talk with Beatrice, she proposes two possible causes of his death. Beatrice denies that it was her who killed Subaru; she also states that it was her that healed him when he first arrived at the mansion. Perhaps observing the murderous night from outside the mansion might help.

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru (A Corpse is Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet)

Tatewaki Shoutarou has a life outside his high school, one that makes the drama and socialising of his peers seem far less important to him. He assists Sakurako Kujou, an unsociable and obsessive collector of bones and the niece of a prominent forensic scientist. But this eccentric isn’t just interested in bones, she is an expert in them. When she and Shotaro go out collecting, they seem to have a knack for finding human remains, and Sakurako’s keen eye and forensic knowledge can quickly tell what befell the previous owner of the latest set of bones she has become obsessed with.

Tonight’s Episodes:The Cursed Man, Part 2

Sakurako discovers the secret of the painting Takeshi had kept in his study. The pigment of the imagination, when combined with the mold that had grown from being kept in storage, has a rather disturbing effect. She further deduces that the death of the other men in Takeshi’s family. But why has Takeshi chosen now to contact Utsumi?

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)

It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.

… An ancient enemy of the family has returned.

Tonight’s Episodes:Lovers: Part 2

As Jotaro continues to put up with Steely Dan’s whims, taking note of everything in order to pay back the insults later. Kakyoin and Polnareff’s miniaturised Stands arrive in Joseph’s brain where The Lovers and the flesh bud is. Though the enemy Stand will not make it easy to be defeated deep with a human brain.
