Event Afternoon

JAFWA has the hall from 12:30PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.
At least one sewing machine is coming along, for cosplay creation related purposes.
Nerf weaponry is being mooted.
And it looks like the guys who brought 8 player Super Smash Bros last time will bring it again so JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen.

A question has been raised about carers. While JAFWA has several younger attendees who are left at JAFWA alone for the night by their parents, it looks like carers can’t do the same for their charges. So we are evaluating a special procedure for carers who are dragged along to JAFWA by their charges.

• Saturday March 7^th – Japan Festival will be held at Forrest Place from 1:00-8:00pm.
• Saturday March 14^th – Evolve Pop Culture Fair 2015.Cannington Exhibition Centre & Showgrounds Cnr Albany Highway & Station Street, Cannington. A new convention celebrating comics, cosplayers, gaming, anime and all things in between.
  Tickets are $10, and children under 12 get in FREE.
  Collectables and comic booths, gaming, Gundam building booths and a cosplay competition are a small sample of some of the great things to check out.Don’t miss JAFWA

Synopsis

Fairy Tail

Magic and mayhem in the nation of Fiore. The members of the infamous mage’s guild Fairy Tail spend their days sorting out problems for the residents of Magnolia and battling the odd apocalyptic demon or dark guild. Of course they don’t let little things like that get in the way of having fun.

Tonight’s Episode: “Just Enough Time to Pass Each Other“

The first day of Fairy Tail’s training went quite well. The deadline to the Great Magic Games didn’t worry them at all, so there was no hesitation when Lucy’s Celestial Spirit friends called her and the others to the Spirit World. Even better, it turned out to be for a massive celebration to commemorate their return from Tenroujima Island. There’s just one problem, a day in the spirit world amounts to almost three months in the physical world. There’s no time left to train for the Great Magic Games.

Barakamon

Seishuu Handa is a new rising star in the world of professional, artistic, calligraphy. But when his pride and temper land him in trouble, he finds himself cooling his heels on the quaint little island of Gotou. Seishuu quickly finds the island’s residents to be both infuriating and invigorating in equal measure. Especially the diminutive Naru Kotoishi.

Tonight’s Episode: “Yoseo (I Am In Tokyo)“

A day and night of fun at the festival, and his first ever taste of Fairy Floss, rounded out the last full day Handa spent on the island. Leaving Naru to find nothing but an empty building when she arrived the next day to play. Handa is already back in Tokyo, awaiting the arrival of the Director so that he can apologise, and turning himself into a nervous wreck thinking about how he can apologize to the director and what the director might say about his next piece.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-kun)

High school student Sakura Chiyo has a serious crush on her tall, stoic schoolmate Nozaki Umetarou. But when she finally plucks up the courage to tell him she always wants to be with him, she finds herself employed as his assistant. Turns out Nozaki is a shoujo manga artist, and by working alongside him Sakura gets to see her high school crush in action … and see the not-so-perfect inspiration for his stories.

Tonight’s Episode: “There Are Times When a Man Must Fight”

Kashima Yu and Hori, her long-suffering director in the Drama Club, now go into the sources of inspiration for Nozaki’s work, although Hori was already helping Nozaki with his backgrounds and layouts (and in return getting Nozaki’s help with scripts for the Drama Club). Indeed, Nozaki has much inspiration for his work and considers himself something of an expert on matters of the heart. Which is handy for Mikorin, who wants some relationship advice …

Movie – Giovanni’s Island

Junpei and Kanta were named after the character’s Giovanni (for Junpei) and Campanella (for Kanta) from their father’s favourite book, Night on the Galactic Railroad by Kenji Miyazawa. The two boys lived on the island of Shikotan, one of the Kuril islands that belonged to Japan … until the end of the Second World War. When the Emperor formally surrendered. When the foreign soldiers came to Japan. But for Junpei and Kanta, their island did not see American troops. The soldiers that came to their village, were Russian.

Preview – Madan no Ou to Vanadis (Lord Marksman and Vanadis)

The nations of Brune and Zchted are both mighty and wealthy, but with the old king of Brune close to dying the contest for the throne could not have come at a worse time. Zchted’s military leaders, the seven War Maidens known as Vanadis, have taken the field against the armies of Brune. Minor noble Tigrevurmud Vorn gets a first-hand demonstration of the Vanadis’ power when he is taken as spoils of war by the impetuous battle maiden Eleonora Viltaria.

Tonight’s Episode: “Wind Princess of the Battlefield”

Tigre is not much to look at by noble standards; no armour, no steed, and his weapon is a bow. Still, he has survived the battle of the Dinant Plains, many others did not. The victors are still in the process of mopping up survivors but Tigre sees an opportunity to strike down the enemy commander and maybe buy his surviving allies enough time to escape. Unfortunately the power of a battle maiden is more than he anticipated, and his encounter instead ends with him as a prisoner.

Psycho-Pass 2

Makishima Shougo is dead, and Akane Tsunemori still works for Public Security. With a new junior inspector and two new Enforcers she struggles to protect the public from the latent criminals in their midst, whilst hiding from them the horrible truth of the Sybil System. But a new menace walks the streets, a new threat that once again cannot be judged by Sybil. And this time they’re not just a lone psychopath, this time they’re recruiting.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Salvation of Job”

After picking the brains of the now committed Professor Saiga about the “WC?” message, Akane gets permission from the Bureau Chief to take over both the investigation of Inspector Shisui’s disappearance and the mystery message. She is more certain than ever that Kamui exists. At the same time Inspector Ayoanagi gets a call from Shisui that lures her into a building with yet another murderous individual who’s Crime Coefficient is impossibly low … her and a room full of innocents.

Danganronpa

Hope’s Peak Private Academy is a famous boarding school, known as a place for students who are the best in their field. When the unremarkable Makoto Naegi wins a lottery to enter the school he and fourteen other new students find the horrible truth hidden within; Hope’s Peak is a prison, and the only way out is to kill one of the other inmates without getting caught.

Tonight’s Episode: “Weekly Shounen Despair Magazine”

It took some desperate, but accurate, deductions by Naegi to clear his name, but as the evidence piled up Leon Kuwata was revealed as the murderer and executed by Monobear. With one Class Trial over with, Monobear rewards the survivors by opening up the second floor of the school. Most of the students, however, are not very optimistic. One of them already tried committing murder to escape, surely it’s only a matter of time until another one tries.
