What an exciting week it has been. Last week was Free Comic Book Day followed by Star Wars Day and this week is Mother’s Day, and in-between is JAFWA!
And we get to say good bye to “Jormungand”. But never fear, you can re-watch the series with the DVDs that Madman are about to release.

Dates of Interest

• May 24^th May – Rather than a regular JAFWA screening, President Drew is sponsoring the night and putting in what he wants to see (strong possibility of “Macross: Do you remember love?”). However he welcomes suggestions for one or two other items to finish filling out the night.
• June 28^th – JAFWA annual elections – vote for anime overlord. (Possible date change – await news)

Synopsis

Kiniro Mosaic (Golden Mosaic)

Shinobu Omiya once stayed in England, where she met and befriended Alice Cartelet. Years later when Shinobu is in high school, Alice comes to Japan as an exchange student and the two renew their friendship.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Wonderful Quintet“

Karasuma Sakura is the English teacher at Alice and Shino’s school. Shino and her friends make English classes entertaining if nothing else, although Alice still sees her as a rival for Shino’s affections. Still, she is close enough to her students that she has a nickname, Karasu-chan. When Karen catches up with them between classes, she asks for a nickname as well.

Fairy Tail

Magic and mayhem in the nation of Fiore. The members of the infamous mage’s guild Fairy Tail spend their days sorting out problems for the residents of Magnolia and battling the odd apocalyptic demon or dark guild. Of course they don’t let little things like that get in the way of having fun.

Tonight’s Episode: “Lucy Fire“

Cana has abandoned Lucy, leaving her asleep and helpless in order to pursue the second task of the S-Class Exam, even though the exam is well and truly cancelled. And now Kain Kiharu, the last unaccounted for member of the Seven Kin of Purgatory, has found her. Lucy manages to awaken before Kain can attack but she must now face one of the Seven Kin completely alone. However, he does not seem to be quite as effective as the other lieutenants of Grimoire Heart …

Preview Item – Love Lab

Fujisaki Girls Academy has two famous students. Natsuo Maki, the calm and demure student president, and Kurahashi Riko, the school’s wild tomboy. But behind the closed doors of the student council’s room Maki is not quite the perfect idol she appears, and when Riko stumbles onto this she gets roped into Maki’s secret world and forced to help her find the answer she seeks … just how do you get a boyfriend?

Tonight’s Episode: “Their Remarkable Encounter“

Every school has at least one black sheep and at the prim and proper all-girl Fujisaki High School that’s Kurahashi Riko. Two of the school’s newest students find her a little intimidating, at least until she saves them from an incoming soccer ball. The school’s other idol, and Riko’s polar opposite, is the student council president Maki Natsuo. Elegant, friendly, and top of her class. A year after getting in, the point at which the boredom of this perfect little school was just starting to get to her, Riko is asked by one of the teachers to take some printouts to the student council room…

Log Horizon

Elder Tale is an MMO with over twenty million players world wide. When a new expansion is added to the game, Shiro and his friends find themselves amongst the several hundred thousand players across the world that are now literally trapped inside the game.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Forest of Lagranda“

In part to quell Marie’s demands for a beach trip, the lower level adventurers in Akihabara have been invited to participate in a training camp, a chance to interact with others of their level and hone their skills. Meanwhile other members of the Round Table are at the Palace of Eternal Ice, by invitation of the local lord, Segiatte Cowen. There is much interest in the adventurers and when they are asked to join the couples already waltzing, Crusty takes the opportunity to make Shiroe uncomfortable. Henrietta however, comes to his aid, making good use of her Bard skills.

Gin no Saji (Silver Spoon)

What’s it like to live and work on a farm? Get ready to find out. Join Yugo Hachiken, newly enrolled student at Oezo Agricultural High School, as he learns the details of modern agriculture and farm life from both his instructors and his fellow students.

Tonight’s Episode: “Hachiken Hesitates Over Pork Bowl“

His brother has thwarted his attempts to cut off communication with the rest of his family, and he has learned the high cost that carelessness and inattention can have on a dairy farm. But in spite of it all Hachiken has learned some valuable lessons and walked away with a decent paycheck. But summer break is over and its time to return to school, where Pork Bowl is fast becoming a full-grown pig … and fast approaching the end of his life. He is still the runt, however, and his stunted growth means he will be graded poorly, and sell for less, when he is finally slaughtered.

Galilei Donna

Hozuki, Kazuki and Hazuki Ferrari have endured many lectures from their mother about how they must live up to the legacy of their illustrious ancestor Galileo Galilei. But when shadowy groups start attacking them to get to “Galileo’s Inheritance” they discover their ancestry may be more important than they ever suspected.

Tonight’s Episode: “Space-Time Goldfish: Part 1“

The Galileo has arrived at the Libyan desert, location of the sixth and final sketch. But there is something extra with it this time, an old telescope. As Hozuki examines it Anna thinks back to her last phonecall to Roberto. Their time in Japan may have troubled her conscience, but Anna is still Roberto’s spy. Back onboard the Galileo Hozuki questions Anna about the possible seventh sketch she mentioned when they first met, but suddenly an alarm sounds. An enemy vessel is approaching, and even worse, the Galileo is running low on fuel and cannot make an escape.

Samurai Flamenco

Hazama Masayoshi; male model by day, superhero by night. Or at least, that is the plan. With no super powers, no high tech gadgets, and no real training, enthusiasm is the only thing Hazama has to help him battle the drunk office workers and truant teenagers of Tokyo. Police officer Hidenori Goto becomes an unwilling accomplice to the exploits of ‘Samurai Flamenco’ and along the way they both learn what it truly means to be a hero of justice.

Tonight’s Episode: “Predetermined Order“

Despite his dramatic first appearance, King Torture has quickly become almost irrelevant. One of his monsters appears, Samurai Flamenco defeats it. Noone even bats an eyelid anymore. The government is paying less and less attention, and Hazama is no longer giving much thought to the suicidal antics of his opponents. Mari has almost completely lost interest in the entire affair. Only Gotou is still concerned by all this, however his job has now mostly been reduced to cataloguing Hazama’s victories for the police report.

Jormungand: Perfect Order

Child soldier Jonah continues his job as bodyguard to the eccentric arms dealer Koko Hekmatyar. Allies are threatened and enemies start to pile on as her plans for the mysterious “Jormungand” begin to take shape.

Tonight’s Episode: “World of Shame (final)”

Jonah has done what he never believed he would do. He has left Koko and become a bodyguard for Kasper. Koko demonstrated the power of Jormungand by having Bookman kidnapped in North Africa and immediately rescued by the US Navy, effortlessly bypassing the communications security of both groups. But it has now been two years and Koko still has not set Jormungand fully into action. The conflicts she predicted have broken out across the globe and even Kasper sees a third world war as nearly inevitable.

Kyoukai no Kanata (Beyond the Boundary)

Akihito Kanbara is the half-human son of a dreamshade. Although never completely normal his life becomes a little more exciting when he meets Mirai Kuriyama, the last surviving member of a cursed clan of dreamshade hunters, and Akihito takes it upon himself to help her integrate with the other spirit warriors of their town and boost her confidence.

Tonight’s Episode: “Silver Bamboo“

Akihito finds himself the focus of a conflict between the Nase Clan and the Dreamshade Hunter’s Association. Of course there is little he is able to do about it since Izumi secretly put him into a coma just as the Lull began. Now, just as Fujima Izumi and Ayaka come to blows outside Aya’s shop for possession of the unfortunate half-dreamshade, and just as Kuriyama heads back to Aya’s shop to spend the night with him (Sakura having persuaded her to be more honest with her own feelings) the monstrous side of Akihito’s body begins to express itself again.

Kill la Kill

Ryuko Matoi is a girl on a mission; to find the person responsible for her father’s death. Her search has led her to Honnouji Academy, a brutal, totalitarian school where the student council, led by Satsuki Kiryuin and empowered by their Ultima Uniforms, rule over everyone else. Ryuko quickly finds herself at odds with Satsuki’s dictatorship, but aid comes to Ryuko both from unexpected allies within the school … and a set of skimpy talking clothes.

Tonight’s Episode: “I Want To Know More About You“

Strategy, and improved mastery of Senketsu’s powers, has allowed Ryuuko to defeat the seemingly unbreakable Gamagoori. Her next opponent will be Inumuta, the information officer of the Four Devas. Inumuta first came to Satsuki’s attention when company security caught him in the midst of hacking the REVOCs computer system and she offered him a place at Honnouji Academy, just as she did with Gamagoori. And speaking of Gamagoori … Mako now has some company down in the bleachers.
