Screening

The tentative JAFWA program for Saturday 25th May 2013 is below. To be held
in the Collins Street Community Center on Collins Street just off Canning
Highway in South Perth.

JAFWA has a social afternoon before the screenings from 12:30 to 4:30. It is
make your own fun, but some people will be bringing games (video or otherwise),
crafts and costuming. Try making a cosplay costume for the evening.

All items in the original Japanese language with English subtitles.

Synopsis

Kamisama Hajimemashita (Kamisama Kiss)

After her father runs away to escape his gambling debts and she is evicted
from their meagre apartment, Nanami Momozono finds a sudden change in her
fortune after rescuing a stranger from a dog. She is rewarded by being made the
diety of the local shrine, gaining a home, two cheerful servants and one very
snarky fox spirit.

Tonight’s Episode: “The God Goes to the Palace of the Dragon King”

Having travelled back in time, thanks to Mizuki’s Route of Time, in order to
find Tomoe in the past and get the Dragon King’s right eye to save Tomoe in the
future, Nanami has achieved half of her objectives. However this Tomoe is very
different to the one she knows. Things are not off to a good start as Tomoe
from the Past flies off, leaving her behind. Only some extra assistance from
Mizuki prevents total failure. But greater surprises still await. It turns out
Tomoe did not steal the Dragon King’s eye for himself, he got it to heal
someone he seems to care for deeply … a woman named Yukiji.

Hyouka

Unable to say no to his elder sister, Oreki Hotaro joins his school’s
Classic Literature Club to prevent it from being shut down. And despite his
earnest desire to avoid expending any energy at all, the other members of the
club will drag him along on all manner of mysteries. Making good use of the
deductive skills he refuses to believe he possesses.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Furuoka Deserted Village Murder Case”

Having agreed to help out the Movie Club with the ending to their murder
mystery movie, the Classics Club is now introduced to the three amateur
detectives who will put forward theories as to who is the murderer. First is
Nakajou Junya the assistant director on the movie. After him will be Haba
Tomohiro, the props master, and then finally Sawakiguchi Misaki, the publicity
manager. Each will present their theory and it will be up to the Classics Club
to see what stands up to scrutiny.

Little Witch Academia

Akko Kagari joins an academy for young witches after being inspired at a
young age by a witch named Shiny Chariot. However, she has trouble paying
attention in class and is looked down on by the school’s more elite students
for admiring Chariot, whom they consider little more than a children’s
entertainer and not a real witch.

Movie: Fairy Tail: Priestess of the Phoenix

Fire Village is being razed by an army of soldiers. Éclair, a priestess
from the village, manages to escape with the aid of another more senior priest,
who does not fare as well. Before dieing he entrusts her with one of the
village’s two ceremonial Phoenix Stones. The other falls into the hands of the
attacking army. Meanwhile, Lucy, Natsu and company are on the hunt for a bandit
leader, and not having much luck. On their way home Lucy encounters Éclair,
and when the girl collapses she takes her back to the Fairy Tail guildhall to
recover.

Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World)

A thousand years into the future all mankind possesses psychic powers, and
the people live in idyllic splendor. But the path that led to this tranquil
life was not so perfect, and the world that Saki and her friends live in may
not be as gentle and pleasant as it seems.

Tonight’s Episode: “… Then Darkness”

Within the darkness of Pinewind, Shun’s decimated hometown, Saki has found
herself confronted by a Tainted Cat. The beast leaps at her but the collar Shun
gave her prevents it’s teeth from sinking into her throat, giving Saki the time
to fight back. She continues into the strange, warped landscape, encountering
mutant animals wherever she goes. Exhaustion, or perhaps despair, causes her to
fall to her knees when suddenly she hears Shun’s voice recounting one of the
cautionary tales from their earlier school lessons. The tale of the Karma Demon
…

Mawaru Penguindrum

Miracles! Mystery! Penguins! After a hat they purchased at the aquarium
brings their terminally ill sister Himari back to life, Shouma and Kanba
Takakura find the hat has a mind of its own and uses their sister’s body to
command them to seek out the “Penguin Drum” with the assistance of three
helper penguins… that no one else can see.

Tonight’s Episode: “I Love You” (Finale)

A long time ago Kanba and Shouma were locked in boxes. Able to see each
other through the bars of their cages, slowly starving to death with nothing to
eat and only each other for company. Back in the present day, the bombs are in
place. Shouma has confronted Kanba and demanded he return Himari. Himari lies
unconscious in her bed on the cusp of death. Everything is going according to
Sanetoshi’s plan. And then Ringo boards the train…

Psycho-Pass

In a future where the psychological profiling system Sybil determines your
place in society, or your removal for the good of society, new police force
recruit Akane Tsunemori finds herself facing both the challenge of catching
madmen loose in the city, and of working alongside those deemed half mad
already. All the while dealing with the consequences of a society that will
lock you up or kill you for thinking bad thoughts…

Tonight’s Episode: “Those Capable”

Kogami awakens in a hospital bed. Being shot by a Dominator, even in
paralyzer mode, is not a pleasant experience. Akane also awakens, albiet in her
comfortable bed with her hologramatic personal assistant hovering over her.
Recollections of her first day on the job, shooting her partner, come flooding
back.Fortunately she’s not due back in the office until the afternoon, she’s
having lunch with her friends Yuki and Kaori before that. A hologrammatical
redecoration of her apartment, a shower, a calorifically precise breakfast, a
hologrammatical change of outfit and then its finally time to face the day.
