Screening of Saturday 29th November 2025

Know that this is the final week of screening in November. The final week of regular screening in 2025. How time flies when you are having a good time at JAFWA. After this week there is only the special, irregular screening of December 13^th (lucky you), before we take a Festive Season Break before returning refreshed and revived in 2026, on January 10^th.

But worry not about the finality of the Saturday’s JAFWA screening. For you know that the best episodes of a series are often the last ones.
We will have the last preview episode of 2025 this week, embracing the topical points of training AI, robotics and what constitutes a healthy family life.
Then during the Dinner Break we will have a Survey to help decide what goes into the program next year. Please be involved, engaged and choose wisely.
And along with the Door Prizes, there is JAFWA’s monthly Member’s Prize afterwards. Make certain that your membership is up to date, for the possibility of great prizes await.

Believe it or not, the “Chainsaw Man” movie is still at the cinemas, with what seems to be a longer time at the cinemas than the “Demon Slayer” movie. What will happen when the “Jujitsu Kaisen” movies comes out?

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto)

Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy. and she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.

This Evening’s Episodes: “Monica Becomes a Delinquent” and “A Book’s Worth” finale

Isabelle invites Monica to attend the bell-ringing festival in Corlapton to give the dead a send-off, but declines because she was summoned by Starseer Witch, Mary. She informs Monica that she will perform a magecraft offering at the Corlapton festival and asks Monica to observe it, as well as Felix’s star that Mary could not foresee for ten years. Bartholomeus the thief steals Mary’s magical item, the Starweaving Mira, so it is up to Monica to retrieve it. But the Starweaving Mira has its own plans. Can Monica deal with this, and Prince Felix, who reveals he is a fan of the Silent Witch, and has found a bookstore with an unburnt copy of one of Monica’s father’s books.

Alma is a super high-performance girl-type robot weapon created by two genius scientists, Enji Kamisato and Suzume Yobane. However, because the pair created her, Alma thinks that the two are actually her parents, and uses all in her considerable power to make them the perfect family.

Genius engineer Suzume and genius artificial intelligence programmer Enji are both ostracised by the scientific community for their ridiculous theories and odd personalities. Deciding to prove their critics wrong they cooperate to build a human shaped military asset they name Autonomous Learning Military Android, or Alma. They are surprised Alma identifiers them as her parents. How to test if her AI is working and learning?

365 Days to the Wedding (“Kekko surutte, Hontou desuka” literally “Are You Really Getting Married?”)

The J.T.C. travel agency is looking for someone to manage its brand-new branch in Irkutsk. But for employees Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji, they’d rather just stay home in Tokyo. Thankfully, they’ve discovered a way out—their manager has narrowed down the recruits to bachelors, so they decide to get married. The problem is they barely know each other at all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Are You Really Getting Married?” finale

Kurokawa takes the blog to her boss Mamaru as proof that Honjoji and Ohara are engaged. Mamaru decides that Gonda will transfer to Alaska. Ohara is filled with guilt and ends up admitting everything to Kurokawa. When the fake engaement is over, what is left?

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”)

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Magic Mirror” finale

The Innocent Zero mage arrives to kill Abel. Mash obliviously covers him in cream due to a poorly timed sneeze, bewildering everybody. The mage realises with some disgust that Mash is who he is looking for. Abyss is almost killed saving Abel. Refusing to believe Mash is using physical strength only, the mage gloatingly uses a Spell-flection Mirror to reflect Mash’s spells back at him.

SAO alternate: Gun Gale Online season 2

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Pitohui’s Attack” and “The Reason to Fight” finale

Realising that ZEMAL are merely pretending to surrender to get into the castle, Pitohui foils their plans by firing at the castle and provoking the NPCs, whose return fire scares ZEMAL away. Pitohui then decides that the NPCs are too powerful for any individual team to defeat, and accepts and alliance with T-S. She then has LLEN send messages to SHINC, MMTM, and ZEMAL to join the alliance as well. Characters will die and respawn, and Pitohui takes out her trump card. Can the objective be met, and what is the secret of the NPCs?

Solo Leveling 2 – Arise from the Shadows

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “On to the Next Target” finale

Jin-woo finds that the voice is Byung-Gyu’s soul. Jin-woo raises him as a Shadow, and he promptly heals Hae-in’s injuries; at Baek’s request, Jin-woo subsequently releases his soul. The remaining ants go haywire and attack the Hunters on the ships and mainland Korea’s shores. Jin-woo is touted as a hero by the media, though some criticise him for not participating from the beginning.

Akiba Maid War (Akiba Maid Sensou)

In Akihabara in 1999, a 17-year-old girl named Nagomi Wahira begins her new job working at a pig-themed maid cafe, trying to follow her dream of being a cheerful and hardworking maid. However, Nagomi soon finds the world of maid cafes in Akihabara is a lot more cutthroat than she anticipated at first.

Tonight’s Episode: “At Moe’s End” finale

Nagi’s fellow maids discover that Ranko’s murderer was the lone surviving maid from the Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam massacre. Nagi did not intend for Ranko to be murdered but decides to let the killer maid go and finish the fight with the Oinky Doink Cafe. Meanwhile, Nagomi stays in her funeral maid outfit and takes Ranko’s revolver as she tries to get revenge. Can Nagomi’s maid ideals survive the carnage to come?

DanDaDan part 2

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Clash! Space Kaiju vs. Giant Robot!” finale

The group struggles with controlling the mecha and fail to coordinate, as the kaiju easily beats them up. Kinta, realizing he can fulfill his dreams of piloting a mecha after experiencing alienation from his classmates due to his interests, fully controls it and matches the kaiju’s strength. But the conclusion will shock everyone.
