Screening of Saturday 15th November 2025

November continues in full swing as Spring made its definite appearance last week. It makes us even consider that soon we may need to bring out the Sun Disactivator.
It is good to see such a healthy bunch turning up at JAFWA, even going as far as following the Yoitsu exercise regimen, though being merely human nobody got past the ear stretches. I was kind of hoping some non-humans might have come along. Perhaps this week?

With the Mamoru Hosoda Retrospective soon to screen at Luna Leederville, JAFWA has scored some free double passes, to be used as Prizes. We already have two lucky winners from last week, Harper and Andrew, and the final two double passes will be selected from amongst our membership this week.

This week at JAFWA we have most of our usual delightful program, but “Zatsu Tabi” is skipping this week so that we can screen a second episode of “Solo Leveling”. This week’s preview episode involves a reluctant detective with supernatural assistants in old-time Tokyo trying to solve a baffling crime spree.

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon. The battle between scientists is about to start.

This Evening’s Episode: “Scientist, All Alone“

Suika begins gathering everyone’s statues and placing them all together in one place despite the hard struggle, all while attempting to survive on her own. One day, Suika discovers the roadmap for the original revival fluid recipe and becomes determined to recreate it and revive everyone. However Senku wrote down 3 methods – the first two are quick so Suika tries them first.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto)

Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy. and she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.

This Evening’s Episode: “Bernie Jones and Everett the Mute“

Two years ago when Monica was attending Minerva’s Mage Training Institution, Bernie Jones, a noble from the House of Count Ambard and the top student at Minerva, saved Monica from bullies, befriending her shortly thereafter, and taught her quick-chanting magic. In the present, Monica, Elliott, and Benjamin Mording are chosen as representatives for the upcoming chess tournament against University and Minerva, which has Monica feeling uneasy. Bernie is likely to be there, and her friendship with Bernie ended after he became jealous of Monica for surpassing him with unchanted magic.

365 Days to the Wedding (“Kekko surutte, Hontou desuka” literally “Are You Really Getting Married?”)

The J.T.C. travel agency is looking for someone to manage its brand-new branch in Irkutsk. But for employees Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji, they’d rather just stay home in Tokyo. Thankfully, they’ve discovered a way out—their manager has narrowed down the recruits to bachelors, so they decide to get married. The problem is they barely know each other at all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Are You Okay with Dating?“

For the Date to settle misunderstandings, Ohara follows Honjoji’s instructions and meets her in Hamura city where she reveals she will be touring Tamagawa Aqueduct, but he is free to go home if he finds it boring. Honjoji plans to be her normal self all day without considering his feelings, hoping that once Ohara sees the real her, he will change his mind. Ohara is fascinated by Honjoji’s passion for geography and especially her smile.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”)

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Divine Visionary“

An Adler dorm prefect follows directions on a note and finds the concealed door. Love, an emotionally unstable Tornado magic user, decides to kill Dot from jealousy when he claims to be engaged to Lemon. Dot creates a smokescreen to try steal her wand but is trapped inside a tornado. Love reveals Milo set a trap on the concealed door; unless they defeat Milo in 30 minutes Mash will turn to stone.

SAO alternate: Gun Gale Online season 2

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s Episode: “An Invite to the Battlefield“

After winning Squad Jam 3, LLEN considers quitting GGO, but Fukaziroh correctly deduces that she doesn’t want to deal with Pitohui and SHINC’s rivalries against her. They then receive a message from the GGO administrators inviting the top ranking teams from Squad Jam to participate in a Test Play, where they will be pitted against experimental AI opponents.

During the Edo period lives Ichitaro, the young owner of Nagasakiya, one of the largest stores in Nihonbashi. He has been physically weak since birth and is unable to go outside. However, Ichitaro is always surrounded by spirits who serve and protect him. A series of bizarre murders began to occur in Edo. With the help of the spirits, Ichitaro’s search for the culprit begins.

Solo Leveling 2 – Arise from the Shadows

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episodes: “We Need a Hero” and “It’s Going to Get Even More Intense“

The Japanese S-Rank Hunters win the duel, though Jin-woo is forced to step in to protect Hae-In. The Guild Master Goto Ryuji challenges Jin-woo to a duel, but it’s called off partway when the duel escalates. Jin-woo again refuses the offer to join the operation, though he hides his soldiers in the Hunters’ shadows. The operation starts off well, only for a creature to begin slaughtering the Japanese S-Rank Hunters. Meanwhile the Korean S-Rank Hunters successfully kill the Ant Queen but learn that she gave birth to a superpowered Ant King, who proceeds to tear through their ranks, incapacitating Hae-In and injuring several others, before the slaughter starts. Can Jin-woo stay away?

Akiba Maid War (Akiba Maid Sensou)

In Akihabara in 1999, a 17-year-old girl named Nagomi Wahira begins her new job working at a pig-themed maid cafe, trying to follow her dream of being a cheerful and hardworking maid. However, Nagomi soon finds the world of maid cafes in Akihabara is a lot more cutthroat than she anticipated at first.

Tonight’s Episode: “To Die For Love: Tears Fall on Electric Town“

Mr. Suehiro strangles a maid to death before visiting the Oinky Doink Cafe, where business is booming after their victory in the Lady Omoe Festival. Suehiro has been a frequent guest of the maid cafe and of Ranko in particular, and asks Ranko out on a date. Though Nagomi is against the idea of Ranko falling in love, the Manager accepts on Ranko’s behalf, thinking Suehiro is a wealthy banker.

DanDaDan part 2

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Secret Art of Being Attractive“

In a flashback, Kinta recalls observing Okarun around school, during which he sees Okarun and Momo’s accidental kiss. In the present, Kinta approaches Okarun to ask how he managed to befriend Momo and Aira despite his unremarkable appearance. Momo barges into their classroom to tell Okarun about the kintama, bewildering Kinta. Tensions escalate when the class representative, Rin Sawaki, requests Momo to leave on Okarun’s behalf, thinking she is his bully, causing Kinta to believe that Okarun is popular with the girls.
