JAFWA returns to Normal Hours (5:15PM -> 10:30PM) in October

The month of October is upon us already! You know that JAFWA has a good program when the the year rushes by so fast. Remember that as the seasons change, this week JAFWA starts an hour later, at 5PM!

This week’s program will include a preview item that may be a little cyberpunky, a genre that has not graced our screen for quite a while.

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.
Note that Feb 14, 2026 is already reserved.

• Monday November 10^th 2025, 6:30PM — Luna Monday double feature at Leederville – “Tokyo Godfathers” and “Paprika” Japanese language, English subtitles, 15 minute intermission between the two movies. Satoshi Kon goodness.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon. The battle between scientists is about to start.

This Evening’s Episode: “Diamond Heart“

Upon reaching their destination, the advance party discovers a massive pile of Medusa devices, all rendered inactive by dead batteries and remnants of the ancient petrification event. With such a supply, the advance party can be rough in their analysis. And build a stealth ship. Now to manufacture diamonds, setting the stage for the Medusa’s reactivation.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto)

Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy. and she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.

This Evening’s Episode: “A Cup out of Place“

Monica fails her ballroom dance test and practices for her retest, but struggles to master the art of dancing, even with Nero’s assistance. Days later, Monica is assigned to a group for the tea party course with Lana, Casey, and Claudia, known as the Walking Library due to her intelligence. Isabella cautions Monica that the one absolute rule for a tea party is not to bring the same type of tea as somebody else.

Zatsu Tabi (That’s Journey)

Chika Suzugamori is a college student who has been shopping some manga pitches around to publishers ever since she won a rookie manga award, but keeps getting rejected. Just as she was about to lose hope in ever breaking into the manga industry, she decides on a whim to go traveling without any particular goal. During her journey, Chika meets different people, experiences local cultures, and finds new inspiration for her manga.

This evening’s Episode: “Crows, Dragons, Soba, and a Remote Island“

Chika originally took journeys to work off frustration from rejected scripts, but now? Will she travel to all the prefectures of Japan? In this solos journey she travels up to go under. Looking for something new she finds ruins. And joy in out of the way places. No end of journeys, but some are better with company.

For Electronic Investigator Echika Hieda, diving into peoples’ memories via the Your Forma and hunting for evidence is all part of a day’s work. The problem is, she’s so adept at what she does that her assistants literally fry their brains trying to keep up with her. After putting one too many aides in the hospital, the top brass finally furnish Echika with a partner on her level, a brilliant yet cheeky android named Harold Lucraft.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mechanical Friends Amicus Robots“

The main suspect in a recent assault case turns out to be Harold. However, during Harold’s interrogation, someone else attacks his flatmate, Darya. Echika “Brain Dives” into Darya’s “Your Forma” where she sees the attacker’s face-which is identical to Harold’s.

365 Days to the Wedding (“Kekko surutte, Hontou desuka” literally “Are You Really Getting Married?”)

The J.T.C. travel agency is looking for someone to manage its brand-new branch in Irkutsk. But for employees Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji, they’d rather just stay home in Tokyo. Thankfully, they’ve discovered a way out—their manager has narrowed down the recruits to bachelors, so they decide to get married. The problem is they barely know each other at all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Are Two People Happy Together?“

Honjoji decides to resist feeling anything for Ohara. Their co-worker Shinshi brags about his great marriage. The next day, JTC is thrown into chaos when Shinshi misses work, leaving a lot of customers inconvenienced. Shinshi’s young son Hideo visits, revealing that Shinshi’s wife had asked for a divorce. Ohara realises that with his limited understanding of marriage, he cannot even begin to understand divorce.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”)

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Magic of Iron“

Silva wagers that if Dot survives ten hits from his Iron Magic he will leave Lauren alone. Dot somehow withstands all ten but Lauren reveals she was Silva’s partner all along. Mash steps in to take on the ten hit challenge and avenge his ruined cream puff. Maybe a scorpion will save the day?

SAO alternate: Gun Gale Online season 2

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s Episode: “BTRY’s Choice“

Pitohui from LPFM, Eva from SHINC, Elvin from T-S, Tomtom from ZEMAL, David from MMTM, and Cole from TOMS are selected to be the “Betrayers”. They are transported to the secret area at the center of the map, which is revealed to be a grounded cruise liner. As the other teams rush to the ship to escape the rising tide, a waiting game will not work. Pitohui works to keep tem BTRY’s advantage.

Solo Leveling 2 – Arise from the Shadows

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “Don’t Look Down on My Guys“

The giant orc Kargalgan nearly kills the party leader, forcing Jin-woo to reveal himself. Jin-woo kills Kargalgan and resurrects him as Tusk while the Hunters Association swears the party to secrecy. Meanwhile, famous actor Lee Minsung awakens to Hunter powers to much fanfare.

Akiba Maid War (Akiba Maid Sensou)

In Akihabara in 1999, a 17-year-old girl named Nagomi Wahira begins her new job working at a pig-themed maid cafe, trying to follow her dream of being a cheerful and hardworking maid. However, Nagomi soon finds the world of maid cafes in Akihabara is a lot more cutthroat than she anticipated at first.

Tonight’s Episode: “Blood in a Sisterly Troth and the Menace of the Red Bat“

Manami Yamagishi, a legendary Maid known as the “Crimson Supernova”, is released from prison and escorted to the Maidalien group’s HQ. After calling Maidalien’s current leader soft for letting Wuv-Wuv Moonbeam get wiped out, she takes over the group herself. Meanwhile, Nagi and the Debt Collector issue an ultimatum to the Oinky Doink Manager to deal with Maidalien’s leader or they will destroy her cafe themselves.

DanDaDan part 2

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “We Became a Family“

The group immediately douses Jiji with hot water and worries about Evil Eye’s growing strength, as a visual kei band named Hayashi arrives and reveals themselves to be the exorcists Seiko requested. Momo, Okarun, and Aira decide to become stronger to hold back Evil Eye and assist Jiji in managing his spiritual powers. Momo decides to help renovate the house by taking a part-time job.
