Event afternoon and Screening of Saturday 23rd August 2025

Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Special Guests the Perth Linux Users Group will be attending to show us how to liberate ourselves from the shackles of Microsoft Windows and embrace the elegance of Linux on our personal computers. So if you have an old laptop or PC that you wish to revive the O/S, bring it along on the afternoon of Saturday 23^rd.

Other than PLUG, does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

After the Event Afternoon Screening on the evening of Saturday, August 23^rd 2025

With the excitement and interest in the Event Afternoon out of the way, it is time for our anime evening. And what a JAFWA program it shall be!
First, we have the last two episodes of our previous regular series to finish (“Ameku – Doctor Detective” and “Apothecary Diaries”), which will clear the room for two new regular series to begin on the 30^th.

Second, we have a preview episode for this week, where a delicate girl receives the patronage/blessing of the “Gorilla God”. You might even consider voting this into the program, if you think the Gorilla God would like that.

And thirdly, we have seven, count them 7, new regular shows starting this week. Do not miss this night!

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon. The battle between scientists is about to start.

This Evening’s Episode: “Watching the Same Moon“

In a flashback, Xeno recalls meeting Stanley for the first time as a child when he helped calculate the position of his target using his machine gun that he built. As a show of gratitude, Xeno offers to share his scientific intellect with Stanley. In the present, the advance party form a plan to reach South America, all while avoiding Stanley and his cohorts who are planning to pursue them across the world. Xeno, and Chrome work together to pinpoint the exact location of the original petrification beam.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto)

Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy. and she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.

This Evening’s Episode: “A Colleague Arrives and Acts Unreasonably“

After saving the Kingdom of Ridill is attacked by a horde of pterodragons led by the Black Dragon of Worgan, Monica Everett, known as the Silent Witch of the Seven Sages receives a secret order from the king to protect the second prince Felix Arc Ridill. Now Monica, along with her black cat familiar Nero, will struggle against her shyness and anxiety to go undercover asa student at Serendia Academy. Introduced to the villainous Isabelle Norton, Count Kerbeck’s daughter whose land Monica saved from the black dragon.

Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective (“Ameko Takao no Suiri Karte” literally “Ameku Takao’s Mystery Medical Record”)

Dr. Takao Ameku is the brilliant yet eccentric director of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, in charge of diagnosing patients the other hospital departments cannot. However, due to her love of solving mysteries, Takao also gets involved with mysterious deaths and murders, all while dragging along her assistant Yu Takanashi in her various adventures.

This Evening’s Episode: “Drowning in a Dry Room [Part 3]” finale

The suspect turns out to be Kojiro. Takao explains that in the video of everyone discovering Daiki’s body, Kojiro, a trained Cardiologist, failed to follow the proper steps to determine if Daiki was alive. She thus deduces he was actually removing illegal stimulant drugs from Daiki’s pocket that Daiki had been paid by Kojiro to plant in Ryuichiro’s office to ruin his reputation. Except this doesn’t solve the murder. Yet.

Sophia Reeler takes part in a ceremony with other students to receive blessings from the Animal Gods. Being shy Sophia panics at the thought of some of the blessings which would draw the kind of attention she prefers to avoid. To her surprise Sophia is blessed with the combat strength of ten men by the Gorilla God, who almost never blesses anybody. What is Sophia to do?

365 Days to the Wedding (“Kekko surutte, Hontou desuka” literally “Are You Really Getting Married?”)

The J.T.C. travel agency is looking for someone to manage its brand-new branch in Irkutsk. But for employees Takuya ?hara and Rika Honj?ji, they’d rather just stay home in Tokyo. Thankfully, they’ve discovered a way out—their manager has narrowed down the recruits to bachelors, so they decide to get married. The problem is they barely know each other at all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Why Don’t We Get Married?“

Ohara is a social introvert at the JTC travel agency who struggles with talking to people so he is often yelled at by his manager Kurokawa and is frequently terrified by his co-worker Honjoji glaring at him. In reality Honjoji is also an introvert with little interest in others. JTC’s head office requires someone, preferably unmarried, to transfer to Alaska in 365 days. Ohara and Honjoji both fear they will be chosen. How to avoid this?

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “The Beginning” finale

Maomao wakes beside Jinshi, re-bandaging his scar and calling it manly—acknowledging how others had reduced him to just his beauty. Before they can kiss, the Shi children stir, prompting Maomao to request Suirei’s help; Jinshi realizes the covert meaning of Loulan’s final request. But with the rebellion over, life goes back to normal and various people get their happily ever after. Even Maomao and Jinshi?

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”)

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Body of the Gods“

In the Magic Realm all humans can use magic, possessing black marks on their faces as proof of God’s gift. Regro Burnedead lives in a forest with his air-headed, magic-less teenage son Mash. Regro raises Mash in isolation because Mash would be hated if people knew, so instead he trained Mash’s physical abilities, giving him superhuman strength and athleticism. Against Regro’s instructions Mash visits the city to buy cream puffs, causing many to notice he is Unmarked. Mash is offered a deal; enter magic academy and graduate as the top ranked student, earning the title Divine Visionary, to prove God accepts him, or be hunted forever.

Solo Leveling 2 – Arise from the Shadows

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “You Aren’t E-Rank, Are You?“

At a guardian/teacher conference for Jin-ah, Jin-woo is asked to convince truant Han Song-Yi to return to school; she refuses to give up her life as a Hunter. To convince her otherwise, Jin-woo gets Sangmin to allow them on a C-Rank dungeon expedition led by A-Rank Kim Chul. Meanwhile Dongsoo arrives in Japan, seeking revenge on Jin-woo and Jin-ho for his brother’s death.

Akiba Maid War (Akiba Maid Sensou)

In Akihabara in 1999, a 17-year-old girl named Nagomi Wahira begins her new job working at a pig-themed maid cafe, trying to follow her dream of being a cheerful and hardworking maid. However, Nagomi soon finds the world of maid cafes in Akihabara is a lot more cutthroat than she anticipated at first.

Tonight’s Episode: “Oink It Up! Starting Today, You’re an Akiba Maid!“

In 1985, an older maid is walking into a teahouse in Akihabara when she is gunned down by a rival maid. 14 years later, Akihabara is covered by multiple different maid cafes as a girl named Nagomi Wahira prepares to begin her new job working for the “Oinky Doink Cafe”, a pigsty-themed maid cafe. Nagomi is quickly pressed into service along with the stern yet professional 35 year old Ranko Mannen as new maids that same day. Despite their enthusiasm for the job, their lack of experience creates problems for the other maids. Then comes a task no other maid dares perform.

DanDaDan part 2

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Like, This Is the Legend of the Giant Snake“

Momo fights off the attackers at the Hot Springs, while Jiji and Okarun hide the talisman-filled room when the Kitos, a family of older women and men, arrive at Jiji’s home. Jiji reveals the Kitos are his landlords as they begin interrogating him. Elsewhere, Momo tracks down a rumor about a tsuchinoko (a type of monstrous serpent). It turns out that the Kito want to sacrifice Momo, Okuran and Jiji to what lives under Jiji’s house.
