JAFWA continues in August (Winter Hours:- 4:15PM->9:45PM)
Just as daylight is lasting longer, JAFWA is in the process of renewing its program.
Most of our regular program has finished, and a couple more items conclude this week (bye-bye “Mob Psycho 100” and “Legend of the Galactic Heroes”). On the week of the 23rd we start introducing our new regular program items.
However, as the observant will notice, this means there should be a large empty hole in this week’s JAFWA program.
It’s MOVIE NIGHT!
For fans of “Overlord”, we witness the next stage of Ainz Ooal Gown’s conquest of the world.
It is a nice lovely long theatrical movies, and we are even looking at even having an intermission somewhere.
As we have mentioned previously, before the screening on the week of the 23rd JAFWA will have the Hall for make your own fun.
As one of the activities, we are making a plug for PLUG. The Perth Linux Users Group will be attending to show us how to liberate ourselves from the shackles of Microsoft Windows and embrace the elegance of Linux on our personal computers. So if you have an old laptop or PC that you wish to revive the O/S, bring it along on the 23rd.
If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.
And there is the end of year irregular screening to consider. What do you want to see in it?

Mob Psycho 100 III
Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.
This Evening’s Episode: “Confession ~The Future~” finale
Reigen and Serizawa continue forward through the storm, but Serizawa is forced to stop due to Mob absorbing his psychic power, so Reigen goes on alone. “Shigeo” continues to consume Mob, telling him he only loves Tsubomi because she was the only one to accept him for his powers, and that part of him shouldn’t be shut away. Reigen tries to call out to Mob, but “Shigeo” refuses to listen, considering him a fraud who has just been using him for his powers this entire time. Suddenly Reigen appears, having been possessed and saved by a returning Dimple.
Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective (“Ameko Takao no Suiri Karte” literally “Ameku Takao’s Mystery Medical Record”)
Dr. Takao Ameku is the brilliant yet eccentric director of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, in charge of diagnosing patients the other hospital departments cannot. However, due to her love of solving mysteries, Takao also gets involved with mysterious deaths and murders, all while dragging along her assistant Yu Takanashi in her various adventures.
This evening’s Episode: “Drowning in a Dry Room [Part 2]“
Takao meets with Sakurai to get more information on the case. Sakurai reveals that Daiki was suspected of being involved in selling illegal stimulants, and also received a large sum of money from an unknown source. He also reveals that the police plan to formally arrest Seiji for Daiki’s death, since all of the available evidence points to him being the only possible killer, especially since it is clear he is lying about his alibi. With no other choice, Takao and Yu track down Seiji to question him themselves.
The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2
Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…
Tonight’s Episode: “The Shi Clan“
During the royal guard’s invasion of the Shi stronghold, Jinshi confronts Shishou, claiming responsibility for the assassination attempt and is stabbed to death by the royal guard—dying with memories of a young Shenmei. Loulan leads Jinshi to Shenmei and Suirei, revealing the truth.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Die Neue These Kaikou) season 3
In humanity’s distant future, two interstellar states – the monarchic Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance – are embroiled in a never-ending war. The story focuses on the exploits of rivals Reinhard von Lohengramm and Yang Wen-li as they rise to power and fame in the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance respectively.
Tonight’s Episode: “Fortress vs. Fortress Akt III: Return of the Magician” finale
von Lohengramm is less then thrilled with Admiral Kempf’s assault on Iserlohn Fortress. Yang rushes to the rescue. The political fallout of the Court of Inquiry move in Fezzan’s favour. Yang’s rescue is deliberately to be not a surprise. In the fog of war each side attempts to guess the other’s actions and produce and counter-offensive. Even scrap has its uses.
Overlord movie
With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination.
Tonight’s Movie: “The Sacred Kingdom“
The Roble Holy Kingdom is under attack from the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and his demi-human forces. Unable to defeat him, young paladin squire Neia Baraja and her companions set off abroad to find someone with the power to fight the demon. But with Momon, the only person to best Jaldabaoth in combat tied up in the Sorcerer Kingdom, the party is forced to put their hopes in the one person stronger than the great adventurer. And so Neia finds herself as the personal attendant to the Sorcerer King himself, Ainz Ooal Gown, as they travel to save her dying kingdom…
