JAFWA continues in July (Winter Hours:- 4:15PM->9:45PM)

This year has passed quickly at JAFWA with its delightful program.
It is already July, and the last week we can accept nominations from our fully signed up financial members (at least 3 months, and resident of WA) to run in the JAFWA committee elections. Whom of our signed up members wish to run/rule JAFWA?

Next Week (on July 19^th, starting 2PM) we will be having our Annual General Meeting as per incorporation rules. What item do you want raised at the AGM?
Then during the Dinner Break will be held the committee elections, if enough people have nominated that an election is needed.

Long, long ago the JAFWA committee was trying to decide between two superhero anime to screen as a preview. By the tiniest of margins we went with “One Punch Man”. I have always wondered what would have happened if we had chosen “My Hero Academia” instead, But fear not, this week at JAFWA we screen a preview episode of an anime set in the “My Hero Academia” universe.

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Apocalypse Hotel

There is a solitary hotel in Tokyo’s Ginza district. After society has collapsed, humanity has disappeared, and nature has begun to reclaim most of the land. Despite the lack of guests, Yachiyo is a hotel management robot who continues to manage the Ginzarou hotel alongside other robots.

This Evening’s Episode: “Bookmark Today’s Page in Our Guests’ Lives“

Ponko introduces Yachiyo to her fiancé Ponstin, who she met when he arrived at the hotel as a guest, and tells her that they plan to marry. After securing the blessing of her parents, Ponko asks for the wedding to be held at the hotel, to which Yachiyo agrees. But Ponko’s grandmother Mujina’s declining health my change plans.

Mob Psycho 100 III

Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.

This Evening’s Episode: “Transmission 2 ~Encountering the Unknown~“

On their trip up Mt. Mudboat, the group end up running into several troubles. Mob gets car sick, Reigen ends up taking the wrong turn up the mountain, and Tome is miserable, not believing that Takenaka is a telepath. Then there is getting lost, hiking, forgetting stuff and other assorted problems. Will they be able to summon any aliens?

Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective (“Ameko Takao no Suiri Karte” literally “Ameku Takao’s Mystery Medical Record”)

Dr. Takao Ameku is the brilliant yet eccentric director of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, in charge of diagnosing patients the other hospital departments cannot. However, due to her love of solving mysteries, Takao also gets involved with mysterious deaths and murders, all while dragging along her assistant Yu Takanashi in her various adventures.

This evening’s Episode: “Prescribed Poison“

Momoka, the mother of Suzuhara Soichiro, the boy Takao diagnosed with vitamin A poisoning in the first episode, accuses her of misdiagnosing him since Soichiro is still ill. As a result of the lawsuit Takao’s uncle moves to close the Investigative Pathology Department. Other doctors believe Soichiro was being overdosed as some of his symptoms have improved, but he continues to have regular periods of serious illness.

Tonight’s Episode: “I’m Here“

Koichi Haimawari is a first-year college student who possesses the “Slide and Glide” Quirk, which allows sliding movement at about the speed of a bicycle (or a cockroach). Street performer Pop?Step put on a show using her “Leap” Quirk. To let out his frustrations, Koichi dons an All Might hoodie, and takes to the street helping people with simple tasks, where he’s dubbed the “Nice Guy”. He runs into Pop in an alley, being hassled. A masked man known as “Knuckleduster” arrives to deal with the hasslers.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Festival“

Shisui brings Maomao to the harvest festival and shows interest in her hair stick from Jinshi, which Maomao won’t give up. Shisui explains the village’s history involving western settlers, and the symbolism of the fox masks’ red and green paint, linked to the prevalence of color blindness.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Die Neue These Kaikou) season 3

In humanity’s distant future, two interstellar states – the monarchic Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance – are embroiled in a never-ending war. The story focuses on the exploits of rivals Reinhard von Lohengramm and Yang Wen-li as they rise to power and fame in the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance respectively.

Tonight’s Episode: “What Was Lost“

Lohengramm’s secretary Hilde asks a favour of the artistic admiral Mecklinger for her cousin Baron Kummel, but it is Hilde who learns something. The plan to warp Geiersburg Fortress continues, with its worries. And how has Lohengramm changed?

Bye Bye, Earth (“Bai Bai, Aasu”) season 2

Despite having incredible fighting skills and the strength to wield the enormous sword Runding, Belle Lablac has grown up as an outcast due to being the only human in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Desperate to find a place where she belongs, she goes on a quest to find others like her.

Tonight’s Episode: “Hymn: Erehwon“

As Belle declares she chooses her own future, her spell restores her arms and Runding, then she breaks Rusty Nail and one half of it impales Adonis. Mist is informed of a new tunnel that formed between the castle and the catacombs and investigates it. The Army of Insatiable Emptiness attacks Guinness and Gaff’s groups. The god orders Gaff to kill Sherry.

Solo Leveling

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “What Is This, a Picnic?“

Joo-hee tells Jin-woo she is retiring as a Hunter. Jin-ho buys the dungeon rights for multiple C-rank dungeons and recruits low-ranked Hunters to fill dungeon requirements while Jin-woo and Jin-ho are the only ones who go in to clear them. The White Tiger Guild’s Second Administration Team manager notices that Jin-woo has survived several dangerous missions and deduces that Jin-woo must have reawakened.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (“Re: Life in a Different World from Zero”) season 3

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favour, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

Tonight’s Episode: “Regulus Corneas“

Arriving at the church, Emilia convinces Regulus’ wives to help defeat him, getting them to admit how much they hate him. Emilia discovers the wives’ role in Regulus’ power: he connects his heart with theirs, allowing him to stop time on himself without consequence. Concluding that defeating Regulus requires their deaths, the wives prepare to commit suicide.

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) season 2

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Dragon’s Tears“

Skel and Po break into Cid’s room and steal six tickets to a Mitsugoshi hot springs resort. Unfortunately, as the tickets were personal gifts to Cid Shadow Garden interrogates Skel and Po and mistakenly concludes Cid has invited Skel, Po, and three of the Shadows to the hot springs for a mission posing as three romantic couples.
