Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, March 29^th 2025

We come to the end of March (we have an extra week compared to February) at JAFWA and as our long time attendees are aware, we have a couple of special end-of-month activities.
First, during the Dinner Break we will have a survey on current and recent preview shows to determine their popularity in a scalar fashion.
Secondly, after the usual Door Prize draw (where you can buy extra tickets) we will have the monthly Member’s Prize draw (which gets you entries based on how many times you attended this month).

While we try and make JAFWA a pleasant experience for all, we should ask how can we make JAFWA better experience for you?

This week we have our regular program (minue “Re: Zero”) another series coming to an end (“That time I was Reincarnated as a Slime”), and a preview episode that shows the struggles of professional ice skating. Also this week we will Lord it over you with two episodes of “Overlord”.
Both Elliot and Greg have provided little 2 minute shows that you might be interested in.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay and Elliot both did last year, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash (“Saijaku Teimaa wa Gomihiroi no Tabi o Hajimemashita”)

Young Ivy can’t catch a break. Though she has a few memories of her past life, she was reborn into an RPG-like world in the weakest class, and worse, as the weakest rank. As a no-star Tamer, even her parents want nothing to do with her, and she soon realizes she must survive on her own. She learns to live off the land and salvage what she can from other people’s leavings. But when Ivy manages to tame Sora, a lowly slime, everything changes for both of them. There’s something special about this frail little monster, and Ivy’s care will bring out the best in both of them.

This Evening’s Episode: “Into the Vortex of the Incidents“

Lattrua beats Meela in a game of rock paper scissors, and Lattrua chooses the place the five go out for sweets (chosen to keep Green Gale in check). While eating, Ivy tells Meela that she can make great use of her slimes she tamed. That night, Ivy and the two parties discuss Green Gale’s role, and using advice from her past life, Ivy comes up with a plan to use herself as a decoy for Green Gale and pass on false information to the organisation to capture them.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all.

This Evening’s Episode: “Light of Science“

While his bulletproof bag softened the blow, Senku is badly wounded from the sniper shot and is now bedridden. As a former med student from the old world, Luna offers to help treat Senku’s wounds after Taiju begs her to do so. Chrome and Kohaku continue to scout the American’s base with Tsukasa, Hyoga, Ukyo, and Suika joining them. To buy time, Ukyo shoots an arrow with the Medusa to Xeno’s base for him to analyze, as well as intimidate him about the true nature of the device itself.

Inori Yuitsuka, an 11-year-old girl in the fifth grade, dreams of becoming a world-class figure skater. While she practices in secret at her local ice rink, competitors her age are considered “too old” to begin seriously training; in addition, as her older sister’s skating career ended in failure, her mother is resistant toward putting her through the same experience.

This Evening’s Episode: “A Genius on the Ice“

Tsukasa Akeuraji is a former ice dancer who is now employed at a local ice rink for figure skating run by his former ice dance partner Hitomi Takemine. One day, Tsukasa catches an 11-year-old girl named Inori Yuitsuka attempting to skate at the rink without paying the entrance fee. At a nearby park, Inori explains that she wants to figure skate but her mother has forbidden it. Tsukasa tries to motivate Inori.

That Time I Was Re-incarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) season 2 part b

37-year-old Satoru Mikami died at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster. Now champion of monsters Rimuru Tempest ends the orc war and earns the esteemed title as Slime Chancellor. Now that the Jura Tempest Alliance is growing even further, they will now be meeting the animal kingdom of Eurazania, reuniting with King Gazel, rising tensions between monsters and humans, and Rimuru encountering the strongest enemy he’s ever faced.

Tonight’s Episode: “Octagram” finale

Crazed and half awoke as a True Demon Lord, Clayman plans to kill Rimuru to keep his title. However, Rimuru simply pummels and devours Clayman instead; learning the Moderate Harlequin Alliance works for former Demon Lord Kazeream, whose body Leon killed to take his spot, but was reincarnated as Kagali by Yuuki. The Demon Lord’s Alliance gets reconfigured.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “The Empress Dowager“

Hongniang “banishes” Maomao to the storage shed for scaring Yinghua with a lizard’s tail she got, which she actually enjoys since she can make as much medicine as she wants. Maomao eventually meetsShisui, but their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Empress dowager Anshi. Shisui reveals that Anshi helped establish the unofficial clinic, and had banned slavery and eunuchs. Once alone, Anshi tasks Maomao with investigating whether she “cursed” the late emperor.

Oshi no Ko (“My Favorite Idol” or “Their Idol’s Children”) season 2

Goro Amemiya works as an OB-GYN in a small rural town and is a huge fan of upcoming idol Ai Hoshino. After an unexpected meeting, Goro ends up dying suddenly only to be reborn as one of Ai’s children; a boy named Aquamarine Hoshino (or Aqua for short). He and his twin sister Ruby then grows up as one of show-biz’s biggest secrets.
As Aqua continues his quest to find his father—the puppet master behind his mother’s murder—within the Japanese entertainment industry, he finds himself acting in a stage play based on the wildly popular manga Tokyo Blade. Surrounded by competent professionals— including his friends Kana and Akane—it looks like this will be one of his easier jobs… If only things could be that easy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Dream“

Aqua gives an extremely convincing performance that impresses even the other actors. After Touki is defeated on stage, Blade and Tsurugi explain that they can save Princess Saya by reversing the effect of her sword. As Princess Saya is revived, Aqua imagines what would have happened if Ai never died, and gives off an equally convincing performance of relief and catharsis.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) season 3

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Perfect Hidden Justice“

Naofumi excuses Melty from her duties in order to help Filo regain her levels, as well as let herself level up too. S’yne is revealed to have been taking part in underground fights for extra money, and tells the group about one of the fighters, an archer known as “Perfect Hidden Justice”, who Naofumi, Ren, and Rishia realize its Itsuki.

Overlord season 4

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination.

Tonight’s Episodes: “An Unexpected Move” and “Countdown to Extinction“

Demiurge manipulates the Roble Holy Kingdom into trading with the Sorcerous Kingdom. Phillip becomes the new Baron Montserrat but his farmers are unable to farm as much food as Ainz’ undead and his finances suffer when Ainz gives food to the Holy Kingdom for free so they stop buying from Phillip. One of Ainz’ food deliveries is stolen and the theft traced back to Phillip. After some “negotiating”, Albedo declares war on Re-Estize, though she promises Ainz will use no higher tier spells. Brain, who now holds Gazef’s sword Razor Edge, decides to evacuate his sword students out of Re-Estize. Demiurge moves soldiers to surround Re-Estize, preventing other countries interfering. Ainz worries victory will be too easy.

DanDaDan

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “I’ve Got This Funny Feeling“

Despite being saved by Momo and Okarun, Aira remains adamant in believing Momo is a demon and plans to free Okarun from her control, much to Momo’s chagrin; Turbo Granny also reattaches Okarun’s kintama to his body. But then at school, Okarun notices the school flooding and his classmates disappearing, leading him to meet with Aira and he reasons they are trapped in a realm similar to his fight with the Flatwoods monster. Elsewhere, Momo hides from an alien resembling a plesiosaur as Okarun and Aira are confronted by a mantis shrimp-like alien.
