Returning from Technical issues

Many apologies for last week, but for the second time in a decade technical issues interfered with us from presenting all of the night’s program. As such we will be making up for it this coming week.

Now that we have reached the end of the month it is time for a couple of regular events. Firstly there is the monthly survey, where we get feedback from you, our dear JAFWAites, on both the current program and the various preview episodes we have screened. What is your number one?
While we try and make JAFWA a pleasant experience for all, we should ask how can we make JAFWA better experience for you?

This week as well as our regular program, we will try to include a preview item, a slice of life about a high-school girl from a lonely island finding her voice.
Both Elliot and Greg have provided little 2 minute shows that you might be interested in.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay and Elliot both did last year, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash (“Saijaku Teimaa wa Gomihiroi no Tabi o Hajimemashita”)

Young Ivy can’t catch a break. Though she has a few memories of her past life, she was reborn into an RPG-like world in the weakest class, and worse, as the weakest rank. As a no-star Tamer, even her parents want nothing to do with her, and she soon realizes she must survive on her own. She learns to live off the land and salvage what she can from other people’s leavings. But when Ivy manages to tame Sora, a lowly slime, everything changes for both of them. There’s something special about this frail little monster, and Ivy’s care will bring out the best in both of them.

This Evening’s Episode: “To Travel Beyond Imagination“

Ivy starts the day by going hunting with Ciel catching game rabbits, to sell to the butcher. Afterwards, Ivy comes across a peddler selling zaro fruits, which only grows in her home village of Latomi and is the village’s main source of income. The peddler explains the troubles going on in Latomi. That night, Ivy remembers what fortune teller Luba told her about finding people she can trust, and how the people at Latome are nice.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all.

This Evening’s Episode: “Doctor vs. Doctor“

Chrome and Kohaku scout the enemy’s base of operations and become concerned about Gen since he managed to infiltrate their base to begin with using his mentalist abilities. They contact the science crew to inform them of what they found, but Senku, not wanting to risk the enemy eavesdropping on their conversation and knowing that Gen is feigning betrayal to infiltrate their base, cuts them off. Later, the science crew is contacted again, this time by Dr. Xeno who asks for Taiju’s presence, still believing that he’s their science leader as referred to by Gen.

On Tonakishima, a small island with a population of 600, lives Hana, a high school girl. She loves recitals and holds regular reading sessions for the island’s children. Mizuki, the president of the Broadcasting Club, senses Hana’s power to attract people through her reading and invites her to join the club.

Hana Haruyama develops a love for storytelling after watching a recital of “An Asura in Spring” by child actress Shura Saionji in her youth, and she hones it upon enrolling at Sumomogaoka High School. She is scouted by a student named Mizuki Usurai, who invites her to the school’s Broadcasting Club after seeing her skills, though Hana is reluctant to accept her offer.

That Time I Was Re-incarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) season 2 part b

37-year-old Satoru Mikami died at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster. Now champion of monsters Rimuru Tempest ends the orc war and earns the esteemed title as Slime Chancellor. Now that the Jura Tempest Alliance is growing even further, they will now be meeting the animal kingdom of Eurazania, reuniting with King Gazel, rising tensions between monsters and humans, and Rimuru encountering the strongest enemy he’s ever faced.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Signal to Begin the Banquet“

Rimuru continues with preparations for Walpurgis, including making Treyni evolve into a Dryas Doll Dryad. Meanwhile, Benimaru and his forces his have arrived in Eurazania via transport magic, and they promptly run Clayman’s army into a trap set by Geld. The Three Beastketeers, determined to rescue Carrion, set out to subdue the enemy army’s leader.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Mirrors“

Maomao inspects one of the new mirrors gifted to the four high concubines by the foreign envoy. Later, Gaoshun approaches her with a peculiar case: a rich man’s overprotected identical twin daughters. Somehow, though thoroughly guarded, one is pregnant. Meanwhile, Jinshi learns that the special foreign envoy is searching for a woman of “otherworldly beauty who sheds pearls as tears”.

Oshi no Ko (“My Favorite Idol” or “Their Idol’s Children”) season 2

Goro Amemiya works as an OB-GYN in a small rural town and is a huge fan of upcoming idol Ai Hoshino. After an unexpected meeting, Goro ends up dying suddenly only to be reborn as one of Ai’s children; a boy named Aquamarine Hoshino (or Aqua for short). He and his twin sister Ruby then grows up as one of show-biz’s biggest secrets.
As Aqua continues his quest to find his father—the puppet master behind his mother’s murder—within the Japanese entertainment industry, he finds himself acting in a stage play based on the wildly popular manga Tokyo Blade. Surrounded by competent professionals— including his friends Kana and Akane—it looks like this will be one of his easier jobs… If only things could be that easy.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Curtain Rises“

After Aqua recovers, Akane promises that she will support him no matter what, even after he tells her he is seeking to get revenge on somebody. In return, Akane asks Aqua to support her against Kana and Taiki, as she has no chance of surpassing them alone. Aqua agrees and they consult with Gotanda for advice, who agrees to help coach Aqua to master emotional acting.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) season 3

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Where You Point Your Strength“

Ren recalls when his party was wiped out by the Tortoise, with his knowledge from the video game he played in his old world proving insufficient. After running away with Myne, she betrays him and steals his equipment. This event, the townspeople chastising him for disappearing during the Tortoise’s attack, and the otherworldly assailants trying to kill him spiral Ren into further madness, causing him to unlock his Curse series, and take on his bandit identity.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) season 3

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favour, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

Tonight’s Episode: “A Dark Torrent“

Emilia is unsure as to what a virgin is, which delights Regulus as he introduces her to one of his wives, Number 184. Julius stays behind to fight Roy while Subaru and Crusch head inside, where they quickly subdue a dragon and rescue a hostage. Meanwhile, Kiritaka is unable to get in contact with the Council of Ten, and just as he and Anastasia are about to evacuate, they are attacked by Sirius.

Overlord season 4

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Ruler of Conspiracy“

Following Albedo’s departure to Re-Estize, Ainz decided upon a publicity stunt to show his power and mercy. Along with Ainzach, Ainz smuggled himself into Jircniv’s Empire. Ainzach pointed out hiring experienced adventurers could be problematic, so it would benefit Ainz to train amateurs. Ainz decided a fight in the coliseum would advertise to potential trainees.

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Kicking Turbo Granny’s Ass“

After arriving at the tunnel, Momo and Okarun plan to lure Turbo Granny to the city outskirts to defeat her, but they are immediately cornered by Turbo Granny, who takes away Okarun’s curse. Remembering Seiko’s advice about Turbo Granny, Momo goads her to a game of tag, distracting her long enough for Momo and Okarun to capture her and regain Okarun’s curse.
