No Screening this Saturday, 21st December 2024

No JAFWA screening until Saturday 11th January 2025!

An thus it has come to pass that JAFWA has had its last screening for this year, and the attendees did enjoy themselves with a final flurry of anime, icecream and presents. We may have had too much anime, as we were in rush to finish the night and eject you into the pleasant night. Yet put aside your wailing, gnashing of teeth, and rending of clothes and fear not as we intend to return in 2025 with a new line up in the program. You shall not be bereft of anime for too long.
The first hint we give of our new January 2025 program, still in the process of being finalised, is that it will contain a few series we have seen before, and the story continues into a new Season. Think “Overlord” when it doesn’t refer to your benevolent JAFWA committee.

Though many of our members might be experimenting with this (possibly over-rated) thing called “Life” as we head into the Holiday Season, be aware that anime is becoming more mainstream. Last I heard there were a couple of anime movies in cinemas that started on Thursday 5th December and may still be in cinems for a while. First there is the delightful “Ghost Cat Anzu” movies for younger audiences, that I reviewed back in November. And to my surpise, the recent “Solo Levelling” TV series has a movie, which I am not certain if this movie is the first several episodes of the TV series or a whole new story.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did last year, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.
