Screening on the evening of Saturday, February 24^th 2024

A reminder that starting from Thursday February 22^nd 2024 various cinemas will be screening the introduction to the next season of “Demon Slayer” anime – “DEMON SLAYER – KIMETSU NO YAIBA – T0 THE HASHIRA TRAINING”. We advise watching it subtitled whenever possible.

During the Dinner Break we will be having our Monthly Survey, where our dear JAFWAites can express their opinion on the ranking of various programs previewed and other suggested possibilities, utilising a scalar grading system.
And later, we have the monthly Member’s Prize Draw, with so much good stuff to choose from for the Winner.

This week we will have a feature-length movie in the program after the Dinner Break, This will be the sequel and conclusion to the regular series we screened last year – “Kaina of the Great Snow Ocean”. If nothing else it feels like it could cool you down while watching it.

Dr Stone season 3 “New World”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. With the Stone Wars over, the former members of Tsukasa’s Empire of Might join forces with the Kingdom of Science to build a ship capable of sailing across open ocean to seek answers on the mystery of the global petrification. However, before they can begin their voyage Senku and his friends need to find some key resources and push some new scientific advancements to build the type of vessel they need.

This evening’s Episodes: “Treasure Island” and “Beyond the New World” finale

Senku’s plan involves collecting skilled people and materials from all over the world, so they plan to leave after freeing everyone Ibara petrified. Soyuz decides to stay and is accepted as the new master. With Soyuz as an intermediary, the islanders become allies of the Kingdom of Science. Kirisame and Matsukaze agree to accompany Senku to other countries. As they depart on the Perseus Senku reasons going to space will require Ryusui as the pilot, himself as a scientist, and their strongest warrior. Returning to Ishigami village with Medusa everyone rejoices as Senku can now petrify and revive the fatally injured Tsukasa, still safely preserved in the freezer where Senku placed him. However Medusa’s power supply is running out. Luckily, it has just enough to petrify Tsukasa, after which Senku revives him completely healed. Next, the task of reviving enough people to start a space program.

The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today (Dekiru Neko wa Ky? mo Y?utsu)

One day, a young woman named Saku took in a stray black cat who she later named Yukichi. However, as time went on, Yukichi grew large enough to be mistaken for a bear. Instead of being a threat though, Yukichi spends his time cooking food, doing laundry, and taking care of his owner after she comes home from hard days at work.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Masterful Cat Goes to the Aquarium“

The day Yukichi has been waiting for, when Fukuzawa Saku goes on a date with her superior the Chief to the Aquarium, where the sea-slug themed idol group UMYU-Sea that Yukichi is a fan of will be playing. Saku is sure this isn’t a date, but what will she wear? And who is this other woman? And how can Yukichi resist coming after spending so much time training Saku? And also avoid the Chief.

movie – Kaina of the Great Snow Sea (Ooyukiumi no Kaina)

Kaina lives on a world covered in an organic membrane called the Canopy, created by massive Orbital Spire Trees. Far beneath the Canopy at the foot of the Orbital Spire Trees lies the endless Snow Sea, where Princess Ririha and her country of Atland struggle to survive against the cold and the rival nation of Valghan. When Ririha travels to the Canopy in a desperate bid to save her country, she is rescued by Kaina, setting in motion events that will have the pair travel the world to uncover its secrets.

Tonight’s Movie: “The Star Sage“

Peace has been forged between Atland and Valghia, but the rising threat of the Snow Sea remains unabated. Kaina and Ririha’s quest isn’t over yet. With a new ship at their disposal, they embark on one last journey past the fabled great oceanic trench, towards the central orbital spire tree, with its technologically advanced nation, and into the roots of the mysteries that will determine the fate of their dying planet.

Undead Unluck

Fuuko Izumo is known as a woman cursed with “Unluck.” Fuuko brings misfortune to anyone who touches her and the scale is proportional to how long they had physical contact. She’s saved by Andy, a man who cannot die (“Undead”). He hopes to figure out a way to use Fuuko’s misfortune to finally bring him death. The unlikely pair team up to complete missions given to them by the Book of Revelations, but if they or any of the other negators in their union fail, the book can punish humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Spoil“

Fuuko, Andy, and Shen travel to Longing, Nevada after learning the previous intelligence was a false lead. Shen says that Union scouts walled off the city before they died. Upon arrival, Andy blows a hole in the wall to gain an entryway but unleashes a horde of zombies. Andy quickly disposes of most of them except for one, who is still cognizant.

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!)

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Tonight’s Episode: “Unseen Intentions“

Rose’s escape makes her appear guilty, which has dire consequences for inter-kingdom politics. Alexia decides to find and protect her, but Beta stalls her from interfering, already well aware that Rose is hiding in the city’s labyrinthine underground ruins. Cid meets an elf named Beatrix who is searching for her missing niece and happens to greatly resemble Alpha. While meeting with Perv Asshat, Iris discovers Rose didn’t injure him at all and observes that he has a sinister influence over Rose’s father, the King.

Goblin Slayer season 2

In a world of fantasy, adventurers come far and wide to join the Guild, in order to complete contracts for whatever jobs are available. An inexperienced priestess joins her first adventuring party, but comes into danger after her first adventurer contract involving goblins goes wrong. After the rest of her party is wiped out, she is saved by a man known as Goblin Slayer, an adventurer whose only purpose is the eradication of goblins with extreme prejudice. And when rumours of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Elven King’s Forest” season 2

The ambushers are goblins so Priestess shields the raft with a barrier. The goblins block the fjord with shipwrecks, until Priestess uses her new healing spell to cleanse away the rotten wood, destroying the dam in the progress. Goblin Slayer swears to destroy the nest on their return. They camp for the night while the girls catch for fishes and swim in bikinis, though are disappointed by Goblin Slayer’s lack of reaction.
