Screening on the evening of Saturday, February 18th 2023

JAFWA begins its retro timelsot this week, with an old favourite, last screened at JAFWA in 2017.
Our usual program continues with several series approaching their end, meaning March will be a lot of new regular series. Thus your beloved JAFWA committee has reviewed some of the anime coming out of Japan, and found a few worthy-appearing episodes to preview this week, to see if anything appeals, and gets voted in in next week’s survey.

Tenchi Muyo Sugar Apple Fairy Tale Witch From Mercury Tale of Outcasts

The next fundraising for JAFWA at Cannington Bunnings sausage sizzle is scheduled for Saturday May 6th, and we would like a volunteer or 3 to help out.

Dale’s Suggestive Remarks

The month of January presented an entry in our suggestion box. In fact two suggestions from Saturday 28th of January.
Both Suggestions are anonymous, but the hand-writing appears different:

  • Gate, thus the JSDF fought there

An excellent little anime, where the isekai genre was too new to be ubiquitously annoying, where the JSDF had to deal with and inter-dimensional invasion, where the invaders were a little too low-tech, and in the protagonist we all saw our otaku selves. JAFWA screened all 24 episode of “Gate: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri” back in 2016, hence it is a little too soon to request it for the retro-anime timeslot (when that resumes, possibly later in February).
As a side note, our dear JAFWAites enjoyed this series so much that one of our members even ordered the rather expensive “Rory Mercury” figure. That was gorgeous, and I am trying not to be jealous.

  • Girls Frontline
    Feb 22

OK, I must admit I missed this when it first came out. Thankfully there is such a large quantity of anime being produced each Season that overlooking some titles is easy enough to accomplish. According to skimming trusty Wikipedia, this is based off of a Chinese made strategy RPG for mobile phones, then converted into an anime in Japan. We will attempt to dig up a copy from Feb 2022, and the JAFWA committee will evaluate whether it should have a preview episode sometime.

Expected program for the evening of Saturday February 18th, 2023.
