The month of November dawns, and we once again praise our Librarian Kris and his Sun Disactivator. Technically JAFWA is starting a new regular series this week, but strictly speaking it is the continuation of the wonderful “Golden Kamuy” as our intrepid gold seekers invade Imperial Russia.
And we will sneak in a preview episode aimed at the DIY enthusiasts, called “Do It Yourself”.

And we have scored some passes to see “One Piece: Red” at the cinemas. Can anyone say “Door Prizes”?

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!) season 2

Having been thwarted in his attempts to conquer Ente Isla, the mighty demon lord Satan escapes through a portal with his general Alciel… And winds up in modern day Tokyo with very little magical power left. His resources for world domination now consist of a tiny rented apartment and a job at a fast food restaurant. To survive and find a way to return to Ente Isla, Satan adopts the name Sadao Maou and finds that the Hero Emilia is in similar circumstances.

This evening’s Episode: “The Devil Learns the Pain of Losing Something Precious”

After Suzuna explains to the group the Yesod’s role in the Tree of Life, and the angels’ belief that its disappearance will result in a catastrophe, Emi agrees to stay the night with Maou and Alas Ramus. The next morning, Emi wakes up to find Gabriel waiting, still intending to take Alas Ramus and her sword, revealing it contains a Yesod fragment. Maou begs Gabriel to let her stay, causing him to retaliate. Alas Ramus defends Maou as aerial battle breaks out.

Spy x Family part 2

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “Disarm the Time Bomb”

Keith is forced to flee, and as WISE arrests the other students, he takes the last bomb dog and rigs his last hideout’s door with a bomb. Anya learns through the dog’s future vision that Loid will die from it. But will an overprotective Yor stop Anya from warning Loid?

preview item – Do It Yourself (Yofukashi no Uta)

Serufu Yua (pronounced “yourself”) is a laid back first year high-school student, very accident-prone and is known for having a perfect attendance record at the nurse’s office. She fails to get into Yuyu Girls’ Vocational High School for technology with her best friend Miku Suride, instead getting into the lower class Gatagata Girls’ High School. But their is a student club that may catch her attention.

This evening’s Episodes: “What is ‘DIY’?”

Serufu Yua begins attending Gatagata Girls’ High School after failing to get into the elite Yuuyuu Girls’ Vocational High School with her childhood friend Miku “Purin” Suride. On her way to school, Serufu crashes her bicycle but is aided by third year student Rei “Kurei” Yasuku. Wanting to give Rei her thanks, Serufu comes to a hut around the back of school which is revealed to be the DIY Club that Rei is the head of.

Shadow’s House season 2

In a Western-style mansion on a cliff lives the aristocratic, faceless Shadow family. They live together with lifelike doll attendants who serve as their faces. After finishing their “debut,” Kate, Emilico and three other pairs who started with them begin a new life as adults. With the mystery of the “Shadows House” still unsolved, a new incident occurs in the children’s wing. Kate and Emilico, whom the Star Bearers suspect of being malcontents, investigate a mysterious robed Shadow who may be the culprit.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Identity of Master Robe ” and “The Last Lessons ”

Margaret gives a peony flower to Patrick, who later has a meeting with Kate and the others. They compare notes about Master-Robe and identify two likely suspects, but when John and Shaun arrive and relay what they learned from Jeremiah about scorches and phantoms they’re back at square one.
Kate, Emiliko, John and Shaun are shocked at the identity of Master-Robe, who doesn’t possess much soot but unbeknownst to them can control scorches. Our heroes will learn their Master-Robe’s motivations and reveal the gruesome truth about Shadows becoming adults. Meanwhile, Edward, accompanied by Aileen and Gerald, is on his way to check the outcome of a Shadow’s attempt to become an adult, as required by his duties as warden.

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou) season 2

An orphan girl named Riko who lives in the town of Ousu on an island in the sea of Beoluska. The city surrounds a strange, giant hole going deep into the earth, which is commonly called the Abyss. The Abyss harbours artefacts and remnants of a civilisation long gone, and is therefore the popular hunting spot for so-called Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and dangerous descends into the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find. However, the deeper one goes into the Abyss, the more one is afflicted by a progressively fatal malady called the Curse of the Abyss; few who have descended into the lower regions have returned to tell of their experiences.

Tonight’s Episode: “Concealment ”

Reg attempts to make his way back to the village, but gets lost and is attacked by monsters. He is saved by Faputa’s robotic companion, who explains it is a robot called an Interference Unit, designed to collect data on the Abyss. At the village, Riko has a brief conversation with Wazukyan, who she finds out is one of the Three Sages, the founders of Iruburu. She then decides to search a cave on the outskirts of the village that the Hollows are too scared to enter, hoping to find Reg and Nanachi in there. Nanachi traded their own freedom to Belaf to stop him from using Mitty as a food source.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) season 2

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Katana Hero”

Raphtalia is thrown into a prison cell alongside L’Arc, Therese, and Glass, who themselves ended up there due to Kyo’s trap re-entering their world. After she tells them about meeting and rescuing Kizuna from the Infinite Labyrinth, Raphtalia uses her illusionary magic to allow them to steal a talisman from a guard, giving Glass the power to let them escape. They then stumble across a ceremony where the new Katana Vassal Weapon Hero will be declared, with Raphtalia realizing it’s Kazuki about to claim the katana, when suddenly, it vanishes and reappears in her hands.

Tokyo Revengers

Watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend from way back in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had was just killed by a villainous group known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a crappy apartment with thin walls, and his younger boss treats him like an idiot. At the height of his rock-bottom life, he suddenly time-leaps twelve years back to his middle school days. To save Hinata, and change the life he spent running away, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the top of Kanto’s most sinister delinquent gang.

Tonight’s Episode: “Releap”

Naoto divulges that Draken was killed on August 3, 2005 following an altercation with Mikey, and that preventing his death is critical to changing the present. After returning to the past, Takemichi meets Emma, a girl who is friends with the Tokyo Manji Gang members, and is later invited to one of their gang meetings.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “To Karafuto” season 3

A ship with Lt. Koito, Tsukishima, Sugimoto and Tanigaki arrives at Russian Sakhalin on the trail of Kiroranke. They find Cikapasi stowed away on board, but Sugimoto and Tanigaki believe he can help them find Asirpa. While Lieutenant Koito visits a shop to sample local Hurep wine, they learn that Asirpa has been taken to an Ainu village further north.

SummerTime Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “to be/not to be”

Shinpei and Ushio take a trip through Hizuru’s memories as a high schooler, flashing in and out of on various encounters she had with Haine on the second floor of the Hishigata clinic. Including how Hizuru’s brother dies and she acquires his data. Shinpei and Ushio then loop to a moment in time right before they attempt to deal with Shiori at the Kobayakawa residence. He nixes the plan and forms a new one, using Ushio’s ability to impart memories to recruit the Hishigata siblings, Totsumura and Mio.
