July is ending, 1 more month of Winter passed, with our old enemy the Sun (Taiyo-dono) staying in the sky noticeably longer. And yet JAFWA continues to love you in its own way, with anime.

What do you get this week, as we continue to warm your soul with the cultural goodness that is anime?

• Firstly, a preview episode about two classmates struggling to make friends.
• Secondly, a further demonstration of love and care, as we survey our attendees as to which shows they like.
• Thirdly, our Monthly Member’s Prize draw!
• Fourthly, an apology for showing the wrong episode of “Demon Slayer” last week, as we show the episode we should have been shown (you guys voted me in through inaction).
• Fifthly, we have the final episode of “To Your Eternity”, and farewell our immortal voyager Fushi. Though the second season of the anime is scheduled to start in October.

Log Horizon series III – Destruction of the Round Table

It’s been a year since Shiroe and his friends were trapped in Akiba due to the Catastrophe. Their forging of the Round Table has brought order and prosperity to its people. But fracturing political alliances and the constant menace of the Genius monsters threaten to destabilize all they’ve fought for and built.

This evening’s Episode: “Akiba General Election”

The city of Akiba prepares for an election to choose between the Akiba Government, represented by Ein, or a reformed Round Table, represented by Reyneshia as their new form of government. Before the campaign begins, Reyneshia meets her mother and grandfather, convincing them to allow her to follow her own path. On the election’s eve, Ein recognizes that he has the advantage, but is wary about what Shiroe is planning to do in order to reverse the situation.

In his first year of high school, making companions isn’t easy as Raidou struggles to make friends. Short, quiet Reina Aharen sits next to Raidou in class. Aharen is not so good at gauging the distance between people (or personal boundaries), and Raidou initially sensed some distance between the two of them. Then one day, when Raidou picked up the eraser that Aharen had dropped, the distance between them suddenly became uncomfortably close. From “way too distant” to “way too close,” Aharen is simply unpredictable.

Tonight’s Episode: “Isn’t This Too Close?”

Raido begins his first year of high school. Due to possessing a naturally unfriendly face, he struggles to fit in and tries to become friends with Reina Aharen, who sits beside him in class. He is baffled when she either ignores him or speaks too softly to be heard. Aharen becomes extremely close to Raido after he retrieves her fallen eraser. Raido asks for an explanation of her behaviour, so she reveals she has a warped sense of distance that makes it difficult to judge when she is invading someone’s personal space.

Deaimon

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family’s confectionery shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka’s parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu.

Tonight’s Episode: “Chestnut Retrospective”

Kanoko remembers how she met Nagomu when she was drunk and began dating. Then when Nagomu decided to return to Ryokushou she broke up with him hoping it would make him stay, but he went anyway. She admits to herself she came to Kyoto to be near him. Visiting Ryokushou she finds Nagomu panicking over losing his chestnut helmet at the sports festival.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s greatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organisation that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “Fakes Attract Lies part 2 ”

Following Hazel’s death, Cotornica’s borders are closed and Zenigata is held in jail. Yata and Ariana review the evidence, and Ariana discovers that her tutor, Tomoe, also taught Hazel. They also learn that Selim is being questioned over an attempt to blackmail Hazel, but he did not kill her. They raid the paparazzo photographer who had been tailing Hazel and use copies of his photos to have Zenigata released.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Paradox Meltdown ”

Not wanting to move to a World Line where Kurisu dies, Rintaro decides against the hacking. Too afraid to tell Kurisu the reason behind his change of plans, Rintaro accompanies Mayuri to a comic market, trying to think of a way he can save her without sacrificing Kurisu.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Layered Memories ” Entertainment District arc

Tengen finds Hinatsuru on the outskirts of the district, having poisoned herself to escape but remained unable to contact him. Battling Daki by himself, Tanjiro tries to use his Hinokami Kagura but realizes the fatigue on his body is preventing him from fighting effectively. Elsewhere, Inosuke discovers an incredibly narrow passageway under his House, leading to a cavern which appears to serve as a holding cell, full of obi that Daki has used to absorb her victims.

To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 1

An omnipotent narrator casts an orb of light to the Earth, watching as this entity copies the shape of a rock and then, many years later, mimics the moss on a rock. When a wolf dies beside the moss, it evolves, taking on the creature’s shape and gaining movement for the first time. As the wolf, the orb observes the dead wolf’s owner, a young man who lives alone on a frozen tundra. The time the orb spends with the boy leaves a mark on the entity as it observes, mimics, and bonds with the boy and then the other creatures it eventually comes across—all while transcending death and living for time immemorial.

Tonight’s Episode: “Echoes” finale

Although initially hesitant believing that his presence will only cause her pain and eventually death, Fushi decides to rejoin Pioran even though the Beholder warns him that she is nearing death from old age, which Fushi does not understand. One day, the dying Pioran speaks to the Beholder and asks him to have herself be reborn as something that will help Fushi on his everlasting journey.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Great Plan to Infiltrate the Asahikawa 7th Division!!” season 2

Shiraishi is captured by the 7th, though Hijikata and Kiroranke attempt and fail to rescue him. Tsurumi meets his old friend Lt. General Arisaka, a weapon designer who gives Nikaidou a false leg that can fire buckshots. Hijikata introduces his companions to Kiyohiro Suzukawa, a con artist and tattooed prisoner.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Jamais-vu”

Ushio is convinced she is alive again and can remember that she died wanting to tell Shinpei she loved him. Shinpei suspects she is a shadow that actually believes she is Ushio. Ushio insists on seeing her friends and family but Shinpei angrily refuses. Mio calls Shinpei’s phone, which Ushio answers before he can stop her, forcing him to lie to Mio.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part B

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Thaw”

Eren and the Wall Titans march off to trample the world outside of Paradis. Reiner and Gabi search for Falco who was presumably carried away by Jean and Connie. Reiner was wounded while protecting Gabi from falling debris for his Titan’s armor also disappeared. The Pure Titans created by Zeke run amok in Shiganshina.
