Winter continues, as we approach the longest night of the year. Aren’t you glad that we are operating on an earlier hour?
JAFWA continues to warm your soul with the cultural goodness that is anime.

This week we farewell three regular series (but season 2 of “Golden Kamuy” starts next month), and we will be adding new regular series in the weeks to come. But this week we will have a preview episode of a different anime from Japan – one where love shall transcend worlds, but dares not show openly.

Nominate for the JAFWA committee

Official announcement that JAFWA is still taking nominations for election to the JAFWA committee.

Yes! this is when fresh blood enters the governing committee of JAFWA!
If you are have been a signed up JAFWA member for the last 3 months, and resident in WA (preferably the Perth region), please nominate your self for the election in July, by bringing written notification to either the President/Shogun Drew, or our Secretary/Daimyo Glenn.

This is a reminder to think about the upcoming Annual General Meeting and committee elections on July 16^th. We request that all signed up members come along that afternoon to find out how the current committee have been doing over the last year, discuss issues to be dealt with, raise motions for actions to be carried out in your names, and then in the evening Dinner Break, vote in the new committee.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Non Non Biyori – Repeat

In the countryside small town village of Asahigaoka, a place lacking many of the conveniences that people from the city are accustomed to. The nearest stores are a few miles away and one of the local schools consists of only five students, each of whom is in a different grade of elementary or middle school. Hotaru Ichijo, a fifth grader from Tokyo, transfers into Asahigaoka Branch School and has to adjust to countryside life with her new friends. A year has passed

This evening’s Episode: “A Year Passed ” season 2 Finale

Everyone goes to the mountain to pick bamboo shoots, with Hotaru bringing along her family’s dog, Pechi. Later, the girls prepare some lunches for a flower viewing party, having to find ways to pass the time while Natsumi and Komari’s mother talks with the neighbor. As everyone enjoys the party, Hotaru looks forward to spending another year having fun with her friends.

Uramichi-Oniisan

31-year-old Uramichi Omota has two sides to his personality. He appears as the young man in charge of physical exercises on the educational program “Maman to Together.” Although he has a fresh and upbeat demeanor on the show, he is actually a bit emotionally unstable, he can’t help but reveal his jaded, worn-out personality.

This evening’s Episode: “Awkward Smile”

Has Uramichi-san reached his limit and is ready to quit? Usahara-kun and Kumatani-san can only recall how they all met all those years before at college. The times they had. How can rabbit and bear continue without their senpai? How can Uramichi be so happy?

Deaimon

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family’s confectionery shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka’s parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu.

Tonight’s Episode: “A Summer Night’s Accompaniment”

Yukihira awakens from a dream of her father promising to take her to the local festival. As the festival is soon Nagomu offers to take her but she refuses. On her way to school Itsuka sees another young man with a guitar and, desperately wanting it to be her father, follows him.

In order to combat the villainous Secret Society Gekko, who have burnt half of the world and are planning to burn the rest, the hero group Freezing Sentai Gelato 5 is formedunder their leader Professor Big Gelato. However, things change when Gekko recruits a new member, the Reaper Princess Desumi Magahara. Not only is Desumi a formidable fighter, but she and Rei Fudou (Red Gelato) also happen to fall in love with each other despite being mortal enemies. Even though neither of them have any experience in romance, they begin dating in secret, trying to hide their relationship from their respective organizations

Freezing Sentai Gelato 5 team leader Fudou Aikawa, also known as Red Gelato, enjoys a date with his girlfriend, supervillain Desumi Magahara, while his teammates fight her minions. However, when Blue Gelato finds them, Fudou and Desumi immediately engage in combat. When Blue leaves, they return to their romance. How did things turn out this way?

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Made in Complex ”

Despite the change in divergence, Mayuri’s death still takes place, albeit a day later than in the previous World Line. Kurisu theorizes that, since negating Rintaro’s D-Mail stopping Suzuha delayed the attack, undoing the effects of the other D-Mails could bring them back to a World Line where they have an IBN 5100, allowing them to hack into SERN and delete the records that set them on their trail.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui ” Entertainment District arc

Akaza meets Muzan, now disguised as a young boy, who reveals his disappointment on Akaza for not being able to kill the other three Demon Slayers other than Kyojuro the Flame Hashira. Akaza vows to kill Tanjiro as the latter goes to meet Kyojuro’s brother Senjuro and his father. Four months later, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke accompany the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui to their next mission – infiltrating the famed Yoshiwara red-light district, where demons are said to reside.

To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 1

An omnipotent narrator casts an orb of light to the Earth, watching as this entity copies the shape of a rock and then, many years later, mimics the moss on a rock. When a wolf dies beside the moss, it evolves, taking on the creature’s shape and gaining movement for the first time. As the wolf, the orb observes the dead wolf’s owner, a young man who lives alone on a frozen tundra. The time the orb spends with the boy leaves a mark on the entity as it observes, mimics, and bonds with the boy and then the other creatures it eventually comes across—all while transcending death and living for time immemorial.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Children’s Dreams”

Fushi continues bonding with the children though Tonari keeps her ambitions hidden, having been shocked by her father’s death years ago in the arena. In March’s form, Fushi is able to sneak in Pioran’s prison and tells her he will save her. In the final match, Fushi faces none other than Hayase who confesses that it was she who had killed Parona.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part B

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline

Tonight’s Episodes: “Sneak Attack”

The freed Survey Corps eventually decide to help Eren, though Mikasa expresses her doubts about Eren’s motives. Meanwhile, the vicious battle of Eren against Reiner and Porco continues, with the Armored Titan eventually pinning down the Attack Titan, preparing to eat Eren. Will the Beast Titan Zeke be in time?

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Trickster Fox” Finale

Shiraishi meets Ushiyama and Ienaga, who survived the explosion, but does not disclose this to Sugimoto. Sugimoto’s group encounter Inkarmat, a traveling Ainu fortune teller who Asirpa does not trust. Shiraishi takes Inkarmat to a horse race, where they win two races on Inkarmat’s predictions. Kiroranke meets old friends at the track, who ask him to ride a horse and throw the race at the behest of a yakuza boss.

Cells at Work! Code Black (Hataraku Saibou Burakku)

A newbie Red Blood Cell is one of 37 trillion working to keep this body running. But something’s wrong. Stress hormones keep yelling at him to go faster. The blood vessels are crusted over with cholesterol. Ulcers, fatty liver, trouble (ahem) downstairs… It’s hard for a cell to keep working when every day is a CODE BLACK.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Cardiac Arrest, Revival, and a Change” Finale

The body receives chest compressions and the heart fibrillates. The cells chant for the heart to work again except for a veteran red blood cell who is tired of working. The heart is shocked by a defibrillator and works again. The coronary artery gets a stent inserted to clear the blockage, allowing the blood to circulate again. The red blood cells deliver oxygen to all the body’s cells, saving them
