No Event Afternoon this week!
We have come to the end of the month of May, and you know what that means – our monthly JAFWA Member’s Prize draw will take place. In addition to the chance to win the weekly Door Prize draw.

This week we will have one more preview episode before the Dinner Break.
For during the Dinner Break we shall have the Survey to see what you, our dear JAFWAites, enjoy and appreciate in the JAFWA program. And not just any Survey, for the results of this one will strongly influence the choosing of the new regular program items being introduced in June and July (as the current regular items finish). This survey will include the best results of previous surveys! JAFWA, you decide!

This is another reminder to think about the upcoming Annual General Meeting and committee elections in July. We request that all signed up members come along that afternoon to find out how the current committee have been doing over the last year, discuss issues to be dealt with, raise motions for actions to be carried out in your names, and then in the evening Dinner Break, vote in the new committee.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Non Non Biyori – Repeat

In the countryside small town village of Asahigaoka, a place lacking many of the conveniences that people from the city are accustomed to. The nearest stores are a few miles away and one of the local schools consists of only five students, each of whom is in a different grade of elementary or middle school. Hotaru Ichijo, a fifth grader from Tokyo, transfers into Asahigaoka Branch School and has to adjust to countryside life with her new friends. A year has passed

This evening’s Episode: “I Practiced Really Hard ” season 2

Konomi decides to pretend to be a monster to tease Renge, who seems to show a talent for multiplication. The next day, Renge decides to try riding her bike without training wheels, with minimal supervision from Kaede. As Renge ends up with a fever the day afterwards, Kaede comes over to help look after her. After Renge recovers, Kaede decides to take the day off work to teach Renge how to ride her bike.

Uramichi-Oniisan

31-year-old Uramichi Omota has two sides to his personality. He appears as the young man in charge of physical exercises on the educational program “Maman to Together.” Although he has a fresh and upbeat demeanor on the show, he is actually a bit emotionally unstable, he can’t help but reveal his jaded, worn-out personality.

This evening’s Episode: “Subzero Spiral”

The beach commercials our crew suffered to make in Winter are finally screening. But an outdoor shoot in Summer might be considered a worse experience, especially when dressing for Winter. Is their Director suffering heatstroke? Will Kumatani’s violent past be exposed? Can Uramichi-oniisan explain “harassment”.

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family’s confectionery shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka’s parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu.

Tonight’s Episode: “Nagomu and Itsuka”

Thirty year old Nagomu Irino is stopped by a ten year old girl who mistook him for her father. Nagomu had moved away to Tokyo to pursue a failed music career, but has returned to his family sweet shop in Kyoto thinking his father Heigo is ill. However, he finds Heigo robustly healthy. Heigo announces since Nagomu never learned sweet making he is an unworthy successor and the shop will be inherited by Yukihira Itsuka, the girl from the train who has been lodging and working at the shop.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s greatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organisation that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “An Invitation From the Past ”

Lupin has set up his quarters in New York, but suffers from boredom until Fujiko tells him about a jewelry auction featuring treasures associated with classical myths. When he sees a large red jewel in the catalog which was stolen from his grandfather’s vault by a female master thief, Lupin decides to steal it back.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Missing Link Necrosis ”

Suzuha explains how SERN was able to build a time machine and use it to create a totalitarian world in 2036, stating that she had originally planned to travel to 1975 to acquire an IBN 5100, but made a detour to the year 2010 to look for her father. When she tries to start the time machine, she discovers it has broken down.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Akaza ” Mugen Train arc

After the train derails, Enmu disintegrates. Tanjiro struggles with his wound but manages to stabilize it under the flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku’s guidance. They are met by Upper Rank Three, Akaza, who tries to persuade Kyojuro into turning into a demon, achieve immortality and reach a higher power, having sensed how powerful he was.

To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 1

An omnipotent narrator casts an orb of light to the Earth, watching as this entity copies the shape of a rock and then, many years later, mimics the moss on a rock. When a wolf dies beside the moss, it evolves, taking on the creature’s shape and gaining movement for the first time. As the wolf, the orb observes the dead wolf’s owner, a young man who lives alone on a frozen tundra. The time the orb spends with the boy leaves a mark on the entity as it observes, mimics, and bonds with the boy and then the other creatures it eventually comes across—all while transcending death and living for time immemorial.

Tonight’s Episode: “Jananda, Island of Freedom”

Fushi enters into a competition between criminals to achieve his goal of freeing Pioran. In the first round, Fushi is not able to enter the arena after being tackled by a man. As most warriors kill each other, Fushi enters the arena when there is only one surviving. Fushi is shocked to learn that Parona is dead.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Fellow Traveler ”

Tanigaki, a Matagi, escapes his pursuers by using his skills in hunting and trapping. Tsurumi arrives, and forces Nikaidou to expose the traitors in the 7th. Elsewhere, Shiraishi is drowning after falling in a river, but is saved by Kiroranke, a former friend of Asirpa’s father. Kiroranke reveals that Asirpa’s father is Nopperabo, and that he is now in Abashiri Prison.

Cells at Work! Code Black (Hataraku Saibou Burakku)

A newbie Red Blood Cell is one of 37 trillion working to keep this body running. But something’s wrong. Stress hormones keep yelling at him to go faster. The blood vessels are crusted over with cholesterol. Ulcers, fatty liver, trouble (ahem) downstairs… It’s hard for a cell to keep working when every day is a CODE BLACK.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Stomach Ulcer, Friendship, and Loss” and “Desperation, Gout, and Rebellion”

The body gets a stomach ulcer, so the red blood cells are called to supply oxygen and nutrients so it can be repaired. When a few red blood cells are killed by splashes of stomach acid, AC1677 runs away in fear, but eventually comes back. The battle with H.Pyloricauses tremors and AA2153’s leg is injured by a splash of stomach acid. AC1677 pulls him to safety, but falls into the stomach acid himself and dies. AA2153 is so depressed that he passes U-1196 without greeting her, then she notices his discarded glasses.
A huge crystal appears in the big toe. Thinking it is a germ, the immune cells attack it, but cannot damage it and only manage to damage the surroundings and cause inflammation. AA2153 wanders aimlessly and runs into a cell whom AC1677 flirted with. In despair, he goes to the spleen and begs to be killed, only to be refused and ordered to get back to work. The cells realize the crystal is Uric acid and the body is suffering Gout. AA2153 arrives and rallies the cells to attack the body so it will listen to them and stop its unhealthy lifestyle.
