JAFWA continues to provide Japanese cultural goodness through the medium of anime.
This week we start a new regular series, and provide 2 preview episodes. The spread of isekai is resulting in the deconstruction of the genre. Still, it won’t be as much new anime as the week after when we have an afternoon of anime.

NOTE We are now required by City of South Perth to check our attendees’ Vaccination status.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contact Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.
– We are now required by City of South Perth to check our attendees’ Vaccine status.

Uramichi-Oniisan

31-year-old Uramichi Omota has two sides to his personality. He appears as the young man in charge of physical exercises on the educational program “Maman to Together.” Although he has a fresh and upbeat demeanour on the show, he is actually a bit emotionally unstable, he can’t help but reveal his jaded, worn-out personality.

This evening’s Episode: “I Can Do It by Myself”

The cast of “Together with Maman” are right to fear a new program segment. Especially without rehearsals to demonstrate the feasibility of the concept. The easily confused Iketeru-oniisan is losing it. Who will take responsibility? Somethings cannot be faced head on.

preview item – Akebi’s Sailor Uniform (Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku)

Komichi Akebi is starting junior high at the prestigious Roubai Academy in the countryside. It’s been her dream to wear a sailor-style school uniform and tomorrow her dream will come true. Except the school has changed its dress code.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Sailor Uniform I Always Wanted ”

Komichi Akebi is an energetic, friendly, and athletic girl, who has recently finished elementary school. As she has been accepted into the private all-girls middle school Roubai Academy, she is close to accomplishing her dream of wearing a sailor-style school uniform, following in the footsteps of her favourite idol, Miki Fukumoto. She arrives home, where her mother, Yuwa, is tailoring the uniform herself, as she herself attended Roubai Academy in her childhood. However, in the entrance ceremony, Akebi quickly realizes that she is the only one wearing a sailor uniform, as every other student is wearing a blazer based attire. What to do?

Restaurant to Another World (Isekai Shokudou) season 2

The Western Restaurant Nekoya is a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which offers a lot of Japanese versions of Western dishes. It opens during usual business hours but is closed during holidays and weekends. But secretly it is also open on Saturdays, as on this particular day it creates doorways to another world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake of its exotic food, with many of them becoming regular patrons. But while Nekoya mainly offers food, it is also a place where relationships are forged, inspirations made, and salvation for the needy is provided.

This evening’s Episodes: “Quiche / Coffee Float ”

Puzzled as to why Prince Shareef is seeking an alliance with the Great Empire, Emperor Wolfgang travels to the Land of Sand. Afraid that this might lead to another war with the Empire, Edmon, the Demon Kingdom’s spy master, visits the Nekoya through his personal door to find out more details. All is eventually revealed when Shareef, Renna and Adelheid unite in the restaurant; in front of all assembled guests, Shareef proposes to Adelheid, and she accepts, causing the patrons to celebrate and Edmon to deliver a favorable report to his superiors.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Chaos Theory Homeostasis III ”

Realising the D-Mail Faris sent prevented moe culture from being introduced into Akihabara, he discovers that Luka’s earlier D-Mail had in fact changed his sex to female. Afterward, Rintaro talks with Suzuha, who reveals she came to Tokyo to try to find her father, mentioning she will leave if she is unable to find him the next day.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s geatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organization that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “Darwin’s Bird ”

Fujiko checks out the fossil of an archaeopteryx on display in the British Natural History Museum for a man who calls himself Mihail, Michael, or Miguel, on behalf of his lord who wants her to steal it. The specimen was uncovered in a quarry in Solnhofen, Germany in 1861, 2 years after Charles Darwin published On the Origin of Species. Mihail’s employer believes that the three discovered fossils of archaeopteryx are the work of forger Karl Häberlein.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku ” Mugen Train arc

Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku becomes involved in the hunt with a woman and her granddaughter. The woman remembers that his father once saved them as well, and his son is proud to continue the tradition. Kyojuro later boards the Mugen Train, where three underlings from the Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, join him to assist in the investigation of the train.

To Your Eternity (Fumetsu no Anata e) season 1

An omnipotent narrator casts an orb of light to the Earth, watching as this entity copies the shape of a rock and then, many years later, mimics the moss on a rock. When a wolf dies beside the moss, it evolves, taking on the creature’s shape and gaining movement for the first time. As the wolf, the orb observes the dead wolf’s owner, a young man who lives alone on a frozen tundra. The time the orb spends with the boy leaves a mark on the entity as it observes, mimics, and bonds with the boy and then the other creatures it eventually comes across—all while transcending death and living for time immemorial.

Tonight’s Episode: “New Family”

Although Fushi is defeated by the Nokkers, Gugu manages to save him thanks to the fire he can through thanks to Booze’s mask. Afterwards, Gugu returns to the restaurant and teaches Fushi how to cook. Gugu then makes peace with his guardian. Four years later, Fushi becomes glad that he is growing up after his human form grew facial hair. The Beholders reappears to Fushi, telling him to abandon the area.

preview item – The Executioner and Her Way of Life (Shokei Shoujo no Baajin Roudo)

The Lost Ones are wanderers who come here from a distant world known as “Japan.” No one knows how or why they leave their homes. The only thing that is certain is that they bring disaster and calamity. The duty of exterminating them without remorse falls to Menou, a young Executioner. When she meets Akari, it seems like just another job until she discovers it’s impossible to kill her. And when Menou begins to search for a way to defeat this immortality, Akari is more than happy to tag along.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Executioner ”

Mutou Mitsuki is summoned from Japan to another world by the king of Grisarika Kingdom who measures him for a power called Pure Concept. Mitsuki is surprised when the king summons another, a girl from Japan, while he is thrown out of the castle. He meets a priestess called Menou who, kills him instantly after witnessing how destructive his Pure Concept is. She reports to Archbishop Orwell her successful kill and the existence of the second Lost One, the girl summoned after Mitsuki.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

This evening’s Episode: “Hunter’s Soul ”

Nihei tells Tanigaki that he wishes to hunt Retar, the last Hokkaido wolf. Asirpa and Sugimoto are joined by Shiraishi, who tells Asirpa and Sugimoto that Nihei is a tattooed prisoner. Asirpa, Sugimoto and Shiraishi track the hunters and ambush them.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) season 2 part B

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favor, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

This evening’s Episodes: “Choose Me”

In the aftermath of their battle, snow begins to fall in the Sanctuary and Puck realizes Roswaal had activated the spell to change the weather before their fight. Roswaal stays behind, trying to heal the unconscious Ram. Emilia finds a large ice sculpture protecting the villagers from the snow and learns that Puck used most of his magic to save them. The Great Rabbit horde that has appeared. At the burning mansion, Beatrice reflects on her life.
