Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 12:30PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, March 26^th 2022

We have reached the end of the month of March already. So you know what that means – the monthly JAFWA member prize.
Also, we will have our member survey, where you tell us what you enjoy on the JAFWA program by ranking regular items and recent preview items.
But that is not all! We have a preview episode before the Dinner Break, that will hopefully not be a training montage for your inner Mad Scientist.
But last, and by no means least, we are going to screen a full length theatrical anime movie. It has been a while since JAFWA has done this, so we will start off slow with an old classic “Night on the Galactic Railroad”, adapted from the award winning novel by Kenji Miyazawa. (In May, we are looking at something more modern)

There is also the Shounen Jump anime movie ““Jujutsu Kaisen 0”” screening in select cinemas, to which JAFWA has handed out some free passes.

Some of as wish to go to Tokyo to witness Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away Comes To Life With Puppets in person.

Looking for volunteers to help out at our next Bunning’s Sausage Sizzle fundraiser, to be held Saturday May 7^th at Cannington Bunnings.

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contact Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

From March onwards, JAFWA’s canteen will have to raise prices. After many years of stable prices though rising costs, for instance cans of soft-drink will now be $1.50, rather than $1.20.

Sad news! The Hyogo Prefectural Center is being closed. However, there is a petition being raised to keep it open.

Uramichi-Oniisan

31-year-old Uramichi Omota has two sides to his personality. He appears as the young man in charge of physical exercises on the educational program “Maman to Together.” Although he has a fresh and upbeat demeanor on the show, he is actually a bit emotionally unstable, he can’t help but reveal his jaded, worn-out personality.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Once This Concert Is Over…”

Another day, after another unhealthy night. How does Uramichi continue doing the same old, same old? Disappointment is his companion, and worries turn into vague anxieties before you know it. The annual concert is rapidly approaching, this will be fun when it is over.

preview item – Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department (Kaijin Kaihatsubu no Kuroitsu-san)

Kuroitsu is an assistant researcher in the superhuman research & development department of Agastya, a villainous secret organization that battles with heroes who try to save the world. Kuroitsu lives a busy life in Agastya, caught between the absurd requests of her bosses; making presentations; implementing new features into superhumans; and getting results within the allotted time, budget, and spec requests; all without vacation.

Tonight’s Episode: “She Cried Inside When the Monster to Strike Fear into the Hearts of Men Was Born into the Evil Secret Society Plotting World Domination ”

Megistus, the Chief of Staff of the evil secret society known as Agastia, explains how the group’s competition is struggling against superheroes of their own. The Monster Development Department comes up with a new monster that looks like an old man wearing a Nessie-like mascot outfit, holding a sword. Kuroitsu is angry at her superior, Doctor Sadamaki, for forcing her to present an underdeveloped proposal to Agastia’s board after throwing the idea together at the last minute.

Restaurant to Another World (Isekai Shokudou) season 2

The Western Restaurant Nekoya is a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which offers a lot of Japanese versions of Western dishes. It opens during usual business hours but is closed during holidays and weekends. But secretly it is also open on Saturdays, as on this particular day it creates doorways to another world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake of its exotic food, with many of them becoming regular patrons. But while Nekoya mainly offers food, it is also a place where relationships are forged, inspirations made, and salvation for the needy is provided.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Macaroni Gratin / Fruit Jelly ”

Myra, the daughter of a baker whom Pikke and Pakke sold the recipe for knight stew to, is taken to Nekoya by her boyfriend Johan after he discovered the door the two halflings had used on their last visit. While visiting a port town in the Grand Duchy, Fardania and Alice meet Camilla, a mermaid priestess and Nekoya regular who imported her favorite treat from the restaurant – fruit jelly – to this world.

movie – Night on the Galactic Railroad (Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru)

This 1985 anime adaption of the 1934 novel of the acclaimed novelist Kenji Miyazawa. On the night of a festival, a young cat named Giovanni embarks on a train that takes him across the Milky Way. Joining him in this trip is his friend Campanella. Together they meet peculiar passengers as they travel to an uncertain destination.

Cells at Work! Code Black (Hataraku Saibou Burakku)

A newbie Red Blood Cell is one of 37 trillion working to keep this body running. But something’s wrong. Stress hormones keep yelling at him to go faster. The blood vessels are crusted over with cholesterol. Ulcers, fatty liver, trouble (ahem) downstairs… It’s hard for a cell to keep working when every day is a CODE BLACK.

This evening’s Episodes: “Excitement, Swelling, and Emptiness”

Following the body’s arousal, AA2153 is summoned to the male reproductive organ’s Corpora-Cavernosa to produce an erection. He is bullied by veteran Erythrocytes cutting in line and saved by U-1196. Along with two other Neutrophils they go to the testes, depicted as a nursery for spermatogonia where Sertoli cells take care of them. The perfect conditions for an invasion of STDs.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

This evening’s Episode: “Grim Reaper ”

Sugimoto leaves the village and returns to Otaru alone, where he learns of the incident with Ushiyama. He is captured by Tsurumi, who accuses him of killing the soldiers. Asirpa and Retar track Sugimoto and find Shiraishi, who tells her Sugimoto’s location.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) season 2 part B

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favor, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

This evening’s Episodes: “Happiness Reflected on the Water’s Surface”

While Garfiel and Elsa engage in combat, Subaru confronts Beatrice in her library. She claims that since her death was foretold in the Tome, she is satisfied with that being her purpose. Subaru tries to talk sense into her – to leave behind her promise to Echidna and carve out a new path for herself. When she asks if he is “that person”, he says no – but before he can clarify, she instinctively kicks him out of her room.
